1. Have you fitted those Wizard soapbars Sean?
2. I've discovered over the years that I find it very difficult to work with people who don't have much experience in collaboration. Last example was the percussionist in my band who basically treated the band as his business of which he was the boss. By default he treated us like employees which lead to all sorts of personal tensions building up which then developed into cliques and eventually a subtle form of alienation. the ironic thing was that he probably had the best of intentions for everyone but the project became too much of his personal mission. I've heard its common with bands though. The big regret I have is that it started off as a group of friends wanting to share something and ended up as a business with a demanding and overly commercial approach which people were given the stark choice of either opting in or out of.
3. Oh bloody hell, I've been mulling over whether to buy one of these and get back into drumming, pending one coming up at the right price. And I'm no longer in the UK!
4.
there are much worse places to be.
All the Taiwanese people I've ever met on the mainland were a little bit neurotic or just loopy in some way. Is that the case on the island itself or have I just been unlucky? I heard one time that Taiwan has the greatest density of webcams per square km of anywhere in the world. In fact webcams were starting to become a real nuisance in changing rooms and toilets resulting in the government having to step in and pass legislation.

6. +1 youtube has to be a first stop on the search, Kate. As far as I'm aware though there ain't a lot of electric double bassists playing dance tracks out there. I suspect you may have to improvise a little bit by looking at technique lessons for double bassists (which may have a jazz or classical emphasis) and then repetoire lessons for electric bassists in the style that your partner wants to play.
7.
Seems like the UK pickup gurus can more than hold there own.
Andy at Wizard used to work for Kent Armstrong so has wound pickups for some fairly well known US based manufacturers

Basswood

Basswood has often been described as having a mid emphasis and poor lows. Its popular with Ibanez because they use it a lot in their guitars. The lack of lows can be compensated for with pickup design but it takes a bit more focus on the design to come up with a good sounding instrument.
9.
who's the tasty bird in your avatar?
Trade in deal. One in the hand is worth two in the bush apparently.
10.
Best ring Andy - he's a great guy and a lot of help. I won't buy pickups anywhere else now.
+1 I remember you and I chatting about replacements. I won't have any other kind of soapbars in my instruments either. The kiwi customs he made me are astounding - warm, sweet and clean.
11. Hey Johan, welcome aboard Got a link for TKS? Nice choice in amps, let me know if you ever want to tell the Quatravalve.

13. Ni hao Ni hao ma? What are you up to in Taiwan?
14. Do yours get really hot after a gig? Mine are almost too hot to touch. They used to warm the car up nicely on a winters evening on the way back.
15. Oh blimey, I've just soiled myself again...NURSE!!! Thats the first complete Pro 4000 + matching 4x12 rig I've ever seen apart from the adverts. Do you have two Pro4000's? What are the serials? Does the 4x12 have the original volt speakers or replacements?
16. I've had one on a passive bass and it sounded more like an active bass, which wasn't bad. I tried the same maximiser on an active bass and it just made things sound more scoopy. I think they're the sort of kit that might be worth having if you prefer a vintage sound most of the time but occasionally need to do some slapping.
17. Failing that, check: The size of the piezo transducers and see if the contact point is slipping in between windings on the string. Or whether the piezo has been damaged or the saddle filed down to take the string.
18. Sounds all too similar to the situation with my last band. We were turned into a gigging machine and it was doing my head in.

21. Oh thats a real shame, the pub is an institution in its own right. I've been there a few times.
22. Klaus Noll does a 3 band parametric eq. for the ultimate in versatility. http://www.noll-electronic.de/sites_d/bassel.html Great circuits, Ritter use them. Clean without sounding brittle, warm without losing focus.
23. They're also pretty sensitive so can be used with heads ranging from 100w up to 600w+
24. I've been told by a luthier I know here in NZ that a famous acoustic guitar maker is less discriminate about where some of their wood comes from because they simply can't get enough of it to meet demand when sourced through official channels.
25. I have two Neo 212 cabs I bought one and played it for about 6 months...then I bought another. Good for hollow stages. So light they should be chained to the floor.
