I thought about it John, yes. But I think it might actually be cheaper to get Andy at Wizard to rewind the neck pickup given I'm happy with the sound of the bridge pickup. Playing the bass, the A and D strings seem a little more compressed than the other strings, I'm inclined to think this is the wenge effect, although I couldn't discount the settling in process yet, either. Jon's also going to reduce the neck width at the nut a little more, in line with the Spector so there's not quite so much stretch to the E string. I've also installed the AX100 software editor on my desktop and although its a little buggy, I've been able to adjust the sensitivities a lot more easily than if I'd used the tiny LCD display on the unit. The bass tracks surprisingly well although I don't think Billy Sheenan will be out shopping for one any time soon. Still undecided about its live potential though. I'll probably need to play around with it a little more, I think. However the split string facility is a total riot, there's one standard setting on the Axon called 'Jazz Trio' which has an upright bass and hihat/snare accents on the lower 4 strings and a Fender Rhodes on the top two strings. So its possible to sound like a trio by alternating between accented bass notes and melody. I just need to find a cheap MIDI interface for the laptop now...
There nothing in the Forum notes , so no problem . Just thought it needed clarifying , looks like its all got blown out of proportion. Best of luck with the sale,
Thank you. EDIT: Can anyone else point me in the right direction?
Clarification ?
I'd like to know where the rule no auctions came from. If there has been some precedent in how a previous thread has been managed that I was otherwise unaware of, then I'd like to know about it. EDIT: I'd like to know because the Guidelines obviously need to be changed.
I feel bad about this post being so badly perverted, it seems a shame that a couple of fairly ridiculous and misinformed comments where they really weren't required should spoil the sale of a great bass
Thanks Liam. Unfortunately there's a handful of people who have been banned in the past form this forum and from Bassworld (a predecessor), who have been conducting a personal vendetta against me for the last four years. I don't make much of it on the forum because it doesn't really affect me that much and its not fair on the forum either. Maybe there's some background that I'm not aware of. BTW, I still maintain this isn't an auction. I'm accepting offers. None of the individuals who made any of the initial offers have complained about my posting their offers. I made it known to them at the time that I was looking for more - not that its anyone else's business anyway. I can't find any mention of auctions, banned, encouraged or otherwise in the Guidelines. So I'm at a loss to understand where this no auctions thing came from. Has there been some conversation somewhere that I'm not aware of?
Why does it look like some people are so negatve towards CrazyKiwi? Isn't he the site owner or something? If not that and he's just lost is job and needs to sell his bass to pay the the rent then its even worse to slag him off isnt it?
It's bullying. BBC and others in the past know that if I have to defend myself against open and highly personal attacks, that's going to undermine my credibility in dealing with other members as well. The reason is that because in the eyes of critics and those who disagree with how the forum is being run, it will always be difficult to to draw the line between personal interest and the interests of the forum. Additionally if we let insulting behaviour slide as being 'ironic' then it sets a precedent for other behaviour from more impressionable individuals who interpret such ironic behaviour literally and imitate it. This makes managing standards of behaviour on forum even more difficult. Some of the members may have thicker skins than others. There's a diverse world out there, but doesn't mean that the thicker skinned members opinions should run rough shod over those who are more sensitive. Otherwise we'd end up with a forum full of insensitive assholes, wouldn't we? Given the personal attacks on me, some might say I have a vested personal interest in the outcome. Hence the temp ban to bring the situation under control and, for the sake of absolute clarity, I'm going to let Ped and the Mods decide how to deal with it.
C'mon! I hardly think comparing CK to Peter Sutcliffe is unreasonable! Personally, I've been compared to a young Fred West.
OK you've just stepped over the mark. I don't know what your problem is but that remark is just unacceptable for anyone on this forum, let alone you bullying me on this thread. Your user account and PM-ing privileges are suspended temporarily while I discuss with Ped and the mods over whether to make it permanent.
-
I thought CK cleared this up already? When he said "this is not an auction", it ceased to be an auction. The fact that he's taking bids is neither here nor there.
Indeed, I'm taking offers, sunshine. I have a firm figure in mind which isn't unreasonable but if someone thinks its worth more, I'm not going to turn that down either. If I post the figure I have in mind, then that effectively limits the potential values of the offers doesn't it? Now, how about we get this thread back on track and bass focussed? Beefy if you don't like what I do, I'm sure you can other ways to occupy your working day than by trying to undermine this thread.

The most interesting interview with a bassist ..
Kiwi replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
No,but reread the interview, and put yourself in the mans shoes,at that point in time.... We all hate playing somedays.
I can't because I don't really identify with his attitude and "hate" is a very strong word. But I can understand how he might get there, its probably born out of low self esteem and a fear of failure. The guy just needs to get off his high horse and appreciate what he has. -
Sorry, have it all.....have the lot, then have it taken from you...Luck does not exist,we know a 1000 guys that can blow us out of the water, but dont get the light.....its about being happy on the ladder,Scott is right about so much, pretty much all at that moment in time, its only in the last few years..say..4-5 that we really started shrugging the 'Failed guitarist' tag off...Bassists being common leaders rather than the few and far betweens..yes there are a few each decade from Sting,to Macca..or whoever...even Lemmy. Playing with the idea of what the instrument is capable of (ERBs..)...rather than what people, musicians or otherwise expect. He's just one of those people that is a hell of a lot smarter than you,and everyone else...and thats the problem. He's f***ing good, and everyone knows it,and he is confident or at the time was!...There is nothing wrong with being good, some people have problems with that..the 'being good'. Im good,I know it,but I also know theres a few that can send me packing on here Bilbo,OuttoplayJazz, maybe you...but for what I do..Im very good. "It isnt arrogance if you can back it up..." As one late Bipolar drug user once stated.....another bassist that couldnt get a gig. Difference is?? ----------------------------------- The points on education..the simple pay and be praised ethic in music colleges,in the UK..has come true, wander around a 'modern' music school area..its saturated with bullshit and clones and bad taste musicians, thats not opinion, its fact. Thats why I still think a working band would take the guy with 3 years of grafted club/pub playing and ratty gear over the guy fresh out of school with the 5 string and hi-fi setup. A dose of reality after all the ego massage helps ..no? hense "Get a REAL job" ---------------------------------- The Zappa band he was with, were talented, but ultimately jealous musicians.....Who's ever given the bassist, and bassist only carte-blanche..Zappa,the guy annoyed the guitards,by doing whay pretty much all guitards hate...by f***ing with structure. Some ,as he clearly states...dont see this as doing his job,as a traditional role...they 'thought' like most.."This is what a Bassplayer should do!!". But Frank didnt want him to do that....and Frank was in charge. Wictors a sycophantic writer at best, his pieces for Bassplayer in the 90s were fun,but always 'pedestalic',looking for the shock horror rather than music sometimes, and that interview was a looooong time ago. ------------------- Music is a sh*t business...always was, always will be,Scott, like Berlin says it so clearly,it hurts, some people cant take that.
Are you going off on one again? -
Marcus sold me a Ragar turntable and gave me some advice on what power amps to look out for, with the result that I scored on from the local crack convertors for about 50% of the average ebay price. Marcus even bought the turntable down personally to Peterborough and we had a nice evening playing around with the toys. I wouldn't hesistate doing bizniz with him again, and the alembic looked good on him too!
No,he says it how it is,and always will be...
No ARGH, he says how it is to HIM... ...and obviously you agree with that. For a few people it becomes reality... ...for a while... ...mostly through luck and by not being an asshole to work with (at least to begin with). -

He sounds to me like he's projecting his own self esteem issues on the rest of the world and has gone further than many in his reasoning. He sounds unfulfilled, bitter and a little cynical and loathing of the world. I think he's over-rationalised his experiences and lost his passion - music is about self expression and reaching out to people. That second part seems lost on him. -
Its not going to be sunny for too much longer on the Costa Del Dudley if the snow carries on south. welcome btw
