Personally I would tend to go for any bass in that price range with a graphite reinforced neck. There aren't that many around TBH, but a Status Groove might fit the bill at £200-350 and then whack a nice, thick, compound radiussed, ebony fingerboard on it to make the neck even stiffer. You could look at all sorts of offerings from Yamaha, Fender, Peavey, Ibanez etc as well. All decent enough basses but that graphite reinforced neck will help reduce deadspots (but not guarantee to remove them completely unfortunatey ).
