Yeah I had a look at them too when I was doing my search, but they didn't have an adaptor that put out 2A.

Nothing beats a nice bit of exhibition grade quilted maple, feathered crotch walnut or flamed redwood. So long as the grain pattern is nice and bold.

I know the preshape doesn't defeat the graphic eq in the series 6 amps, you can have both on together if you wish.

I bought a few off Ebay recently from this seller for a couple of hard drives I have. Plus they work off 240 or 120v. You will need to make sure the plug fits your pedals however but even if it doesn't you could always rig an adaptor cable up to convert between plug sizes if you're handy with a soldering iron. The plugs on the ones I bought (as shown) are about 5.5mm. Previous adaptors from Maplins just kept getting over heated and burning out. I was fed up with replacing them.

1) Fretless - slower attack, total freedom in your intonation and note choice (ie. its possible to play a quarter tone passing note between two notes a semi tone apart) Headless - better balance, (especially beneficial for extended range basses) and if you have a tremolo, better tuning stability. 2) Never as loud as a guitar 3) Compare an NS CR5 cello (34" scale) to a NS CR5 electric upright bass (41" scale) if you ever get the chance. Generally, the longer the scale the deeper the instrument sounds. 4) Only if they have a Ferrari decal and are low to the ground 5) Disturbed by your avatar.

I still think the amp is at fault.

I'd go for the jap one and give it 3-6 months. Ultimately there's no accounting for taste but with instruments that have been built to a budget you can never tell whether the've skimped on the wood (which isn't upgradable) or any other bits, until you've tried the bass out.

Bugger, I couldnt make it. I had a job interview (yes, on a Sunday). Would have been good to catch up with Herbie and Lawrie.

Personally I would tend to go for any bass in that price range with a graphite reinforced neck. There aren't that many around TBH, but a Status Groove might fit the bill at £200-350 and then whack a nice, thick, compound radiussed, ebony fingerboard on it to make the neck even stiffer. You could look at all sorts of offerings from Yamaha, Fender, Peavey, Ibanez etc as well. All decent enough basses but that graphite reinforced neck will help reduce deadspots (but not guarantee to remove them completely unfortunatey ).

For me, finding the space. If everyone in the band gives each other space, it makes things sound so much tighter and more meaningful.

I guess that could be so you don't have to bend down in order to use the infra red D beam. You still have to stop playing to wave your hand in front of it though so probably only good for the climatic endings of songs. Oh no, hang on, you can wave the neck of the bass over it instead.

I don't know about you but if I was going to pay that much for a bass, it would need to be my main bass that I gigged every week... ...but if you're earning enough or have the right amount saved then go for it. If not then maybe start saving, this probably won't be the last Jerzy you encounter. Patience is often a cheaper alternative.

Great stuff Gwil, I'm very fond of the F-basses too. Very growly and versatile and I was gassing like mad for Bassjamms when he had it for sale. I haven't been quite as impressed with the Ibanez Gary Willis myself but people do rave over them.
