s'nice bass tho. how much are new wals these days?

Nice to see the recharging facility - hope there's a change of battery packs possible or at least some advance warning of when the instrument needs charging. Looks like Moses have supplied the graphite necks.
Nope
I'm not surprised, you're probably working most Saturday nights instead of watching BBC1
Nice hat though Steve
Re: hat, hey gotta maintain the bass playing tradition
I put this in the 'weddings' thread but thought I'd post it here too as it was a bit of a giggle.... The (wedding) audience were wasted by the time we started at 8pm. First set (1hr) went down very well and we were well up for the 2nd set (10pm-midnight). By the time we came on for the 2nd set it was carnage. We had to stop 3 times for smashed glasses to be cleared from the dancefloor and they destroyed some light fittings. There was a two-foot inflatable c*ck doing the rounds as well. There was just time to include some posh totty dry humping the speaker stacks to 'I bet you look good on t'dancefloor' (who undoubtedly are still profoundly deaf from the experience) to round off a smashing evening.
Nnnnnnnnnice. At least they didn't invade the stage and wrestle a mic off one of the singers for their own improvised karaoke night...

Is your bass collection worth more than your car?
Kiwi replied to birdy's topic in General Discussion
Definitely. But I've probably lost less depreciation by sinking the money into basses My gigging set up and my car are probably worth about the same. -
I haven't tried the Hellborg system myself yet, but I'm skeptical that the extra quality it claims to deliver is going to be useful in my situation. I can see how it might be justified for one man playing acoustic solo bass guitar though. I can't really fault my Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 for the job its been designed to do (although a 2ohm output would be nice). So mine would basically take the rack mountable class D amp that they make for the times I need to take an effects unit or other rack gear. Genz Benz NeoPak putting out 600w with two independent and footswitchable input channels and the eq section from the Eden WT800.

Well, this was my gig today - for charidee. Better than sitting at home and emailing/calling agents. You might recognise that bloke with the white tie BTW.
i just checked out the pentabuzz on your site, it has just about the most beautiful tone i think i've ever heard. did you record the audio samples through any fx / compression, or is that a simple straightforward dry recording?
100% straight into the PC and recorded using Soundforge. The only treatment used was normalisation. The Pentabuzz has Alembic P/J pickups which help promote more clarity and midrange than the stock Bartolinis. You could probably achieve much the same with a set of EMGs though.

what do you consider "ultimate"?

I suspect its still going to be a lot more than 200w though Tom: Sorry to hear about your problems, I hope they get their acts together. Funnily enough, my amp tech is still waiting for a few bits and pieces he's had on order for a few months now. I wonder if there's selected shortages in parts...?

God knows why I've hung on to this for so long, but there we go. This is a nearly full (3 cm or so below the fill line) 5 litre bucket of white matt emulsion. Free to a good home or I'll recycle it this Thursday.
-
Bump - no takers? Seems a shame...

One came off a sub woofer and measures 48.3cm x 53.3cm. It has two angled returns on the shorter edges but theres at least 41cm x 53.3 of flat area. The other came off a Hartke 4x12 cab, and has a slight angle back half way along its length. Its in the loft at the moment and its a bit of a faff to get down but I will get dimensions for anyone who asks. Both are painted black. Free to anyone who might find a use for them and is able to collect but I'll be putting them out with the recycling this Thursday if noones interested.
-
Really? I had one of their sub woofer modules and they sent me the user manual via email within days of contacting them. I hope they're not in any trouble. If they are, I'll be stock piling one of their rack mounted Class D power amps and maybe a couple of their Class D amp modules...

There's good ol' BK Electronics... http://www.bkelec.com/HiFi/ClassD/ClassD.htm However they only do one Class D module and it's rated at 600w RMS. They also do a wider range of MOSFET power amp modules but they aren't offered with a back panel. However it's always worth giving them a call and seeing if they can rig something up for you?

there is a voicing option on the RB700 head that allows it to sound like the 800RB.
Kiwi you forgot that we ALSO squeezed in two more basses in hard cases (the Smiths)
You're absolutely right. There I was while typing, thinking I'd missed something out too!

Three rolls of value trade lining paper, 1000 grade, 40m x 56cm. Collection preferred as they'll be a right pain to post (and expensive). Available until this Thursday.

I'm mid clear-out and just uncovered a Trace Elliot sales brochure in near mint condition which I originally got in New Zealand when the range first arrived. No tears or wrinkles anywhere because its spent most of its life in a stiffened envelope. The brochure covers the Series 6 range including the solid state heads, twin, quatra and hexavalve heads, the MP-11, the VA400 head and the VR400 valve power amp, as well as the more standard stuff models such as the AH250 (which I owned). Does anyone know whether it would attract sufficient interest to make it worth putting on Ebay?

I have a Honda Civic V-tech Aerodeck - practical, cheap to own, damn nippy on the motorway. For the SE Bassbash Ped and I managed to get the following in with the seats down: 2 basses + amp (double gig bag) 1 bass (single gig bag) 2 Vigiers (semi hard cases) 2x12 cab Trace V8 Trolley (heavy duty) 3 stands 5 bass rack stand Plus 2 ppl. PS: if any one is looking to buy a car in the next 6-8 weeks drop me a PM.

sounds like a good time for Tayste to shift some of his collection.
-
For all we know from the pics, the arse might be cut out of them. Might be worth dropping the seller a PM actually, Ped could be interested.

EDIT, nope nothing is coming up for combinations of MUD, Les Gray and Tiger Feet plus either ITV, 3-2-1 or 321. However I was thinking that because there are some fans of MUD on you tube, it might actually be worth dropping a few of them a line with the same request. I'd imagine some of them are bound to be willing to help a former member.
