1.
I'm watching The Mighty Boosh live show tonight.
Our sound man does the sound for those gigs too, but I don't know whether he's the only one they use. Have a look and if you see a skinny medium height bloke with a crew cut that'll be him. I'm hoping to go and see the Sunburst Band with Julian Crampton on bass in mid November. Anyone else fancy coming?
2.
how is the low end on this btw, That is my one swithering point, I play 5 and 6 string and dont have my own car so this and a sub wouldnt be an option.
I'd like to know as well. The Omni 10.5 I tried at the SE Bassbash struggled with a low B string. It handled the mids and highs quite nicely though.
3. like shooting fish in a barrel...
Its Baudin's Ken Lawrence 11 string, made for tapping. Im getting so itchy to try a stick.
Don't do it. Your 9-string orgasmatron will never forgive you. (HOW much did you pay for it again?)
4. Looks like a chapman stick to me. Nice sound with that multitap delay though.

pangborn bass

is that a chieftan?
6. hello Jack, we should probably be running a sweepstake to see who makes the first "hi jack" terrorist joke. Welcome anyway, hope you find something of interest.
7. It looks like the body consists of two facings of 12mm thick plastic sheets which are laminated or screwed (I can't tell) onto a wooden core. Interesting idea, at least he's daring to be different but personally I'd prefer a solid body in 3 dimensions. There's all sort of potential for sweat and crap to get into the spaces between the front and back facings which would make cleaning a nightmare.
8. Freddie King Albert King BB King... ...only Joe King?
9. The prices are surprisingly reasonable and the more recent Shukers can easily stand up to a Smith or Fodera in terms of build quality IMO. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait, Jon's priorities are quality not deadlines. Just looking at PSN's build diary now, I like that new shape too and it has me gassing for a pair of headless workhorse 5 strings with that body shape using 3 piece maple necks and a mahogany body...but then I remember I already have those coming but with graphite necks instead and a custom body shape and custom pickups.
10. ok, everyone should have a PM with the prices for postage first class.
11. just the one I'm afraid
12. Sorry Matt, I've been running flat tack fielding agents phone calls and attending job interviews since last week. Its been crazy, for example, yesterday I had calls from Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Brisbane and Manila all between 8am - 1pm. I am packing all the books and videos as I type with an intention to pop down to the post office today.
13. bump
14. depends on their committments and how soon they can get a replacement for you. I'd ideally allow 6-8 weeks if you're leaving during a heavy (ie. weekly) gigging period. If you're gigging less frequently or can line up some auditions for the band then maybe less?
15.
The definition of ULTIMATE is "the finest or most superior quality of its kind". We're not looking at personal taste here but generally accepted superior bass amps that have stood the test of time and opinion. In this category you've got to be looking at the Ampeg SVT and the Eden WT800.
With that approach wouldn't you be excluding less popular amps that might otherwise be technically superior? Can you say how much of the "superiority" the SVT and WT800 is down to marketing and accessibility in the shops and how much is down to having a technically competitive product?
16.
Is there a 2 ohm class D out? I thought that they run too hot at that load... or perhaps am I completely wrong?? Why would you want two independent inputs? This is interesting stuff...
The two inputs are for two basses. There are some amps out there like the Hevos 800D which already do this. In fact the Hevos is pretty much two amps in one rack, with independent output volumes too. But its 1300 quid (although hand made at that also). The Genz Benz NeoPak 3.5 has a class D power section and is capable of 2ohms, but its not as powerful as the Shuttle 6.0. The Eden eq is unsurpassed in my experience for nailing boomy or soaked up frequencies
17. good grief, I thought you'd already gotten shot of one.
18. sorry to hear about your situation, good luck with the sale - looks like an eye wateringly powerful rig!
19. Awwww do you have to sell NOW? :(:(:(
20. s'nice bass tho. how much are new wals these days?
21. Nice to see the recharging facility - hope there's a change of battery packs possible or at least some advance warning of when the instrument needs charging. Looks like Moses have supplied the graphite necks.
22.
Nope
I'm not surprised, you're probably working most Saturday nights instead of watching BBC1
Nice hat though Steve
Re: hat, hey gotta maintain the bass playing tradition
I put this in the 'weddings' thread but thought I'd post it here too as it was a bit of a giggle.... The (wedding) audience were wasted by the time we started at 8pm. First set (1hr) went down very well and we were well up for the 2nd set (10pm-midnight). By the time we came on for the 2nd set it was carnage. We had to stop 3 times for smashed glasses to be cleared from the dancefloor and they destroyed some light fittings. There was a two-foot inflatable c*ck doing the rounds as well. There was just time to include some posh totty dry humping the speaker stacks to 'I bet you look good on t'dancefloor' (who undoubtedly are still profoundly deaf from the experience) to round off a smashing evening.
Nnnnnnnnnice. At least they didn't invade the stage and wrestle a mic off one of the singers for their own improvised karaoke night...
23. Definitely. But I've probably lost less depreciation by sinking the money into basses My gigging set up and my car are probably worth about the same.
