F-Bass BN5

all the F-basses I've tried have sounded even better than they've looked.
2.
Well, not my opinon...but the Opinion of Spectors company and its associates, enough to warrent legal terms and thus the said deal,as reported in Bassplayer magazine, sometime in the 90s..If I recall correctly its was Spectors daughter that broke the news of the deal....the likeness was a little too close iirc.
OK, I'm interested to know why they didn't press ahead with legal action. Maybe they didn't register the body shape as a trademark outside the US perhaps. Still, a lot of it goes on.
3. Still waiting for responses to my PM's about postage costs.
4. I'm still waiting for a response from you Matt.
5. OK Heroine Diaries has gone. Mrs Tinman is getting me the postage for the Croc diaries but I've had no postage yet from anyone else. And in particular no response to repeated PMs I've sent to Overwater#1. I've wrapped all this stuff up in bubblewrap and packing paper order to get postage costs and that took the best part of an afternoon.
6.
CK, What is it about Steinies? I'm attracted to 'em like a moth to a naked bulb.....
For a moment there Bob I thought you were talking about Steinlager. They're still very novel I think and a unique combination of radical features and practicality. (Although obviously the lack of a body was a problem for some but thats because size priorities had been placed marginally ahead of comfort. Although this was later addressed with the M-series, I think the M-Series might have actually been a better introduction model). I'd suggest this bass is a master piece of industrial design and deserves to be considered up there with the best.
7.
And ,If I recall, was threatend with legal action, because the license was not renewed. And had to again be re-renewed when Spector regained the rights to his company and patents.
Indeed, so lets be clear that technically its not stolen at all because there are sufficient differences between the shapes. It's just that in your opinion the shape is stolen. I don't think you don't make that clarification often enough in what you post. Besides which lets not forget Fender clones, Behringer, Status clones, Pangborn borrowing the Jaydee shape which was borrowed from the Alembic Series 1/2, then Alembic used the Fender Dual Showman preamp design which was borrowed in turn by Trace Elliot and then Hartke, blah blah blah.
8. Fantastic! A design classic. I'd love to have it, just bad timing for me Can I tempt you with a left testicle? (Only lightly chewed).
9.
Yeah,That ran through my head too? Has Hans AGAIN stolen an idea/design?
If you're referring to Hans Wilfer stealing the Spector shape, he actually licensed the body shape from Stuart Spector originally. If not, which shape were you referring to?
10. lets get in there and spend our dosh.
11. Certainly some unprecedented porn there. I don't know of another place that has such a high proportion of high spec instruments in its stock.
12. *BUMP*
13. This bass is sold to a fellow Musicman Cutlass afficionado, subject to full payment.
14.
Maybe in your experience but your experience is clearly too limited! This cab can produce far more low frequency output than any non-neo cabs of similar size let alone weight: http://barefacedbass.com/thebigone.html Alex
I thought we had a policy on this forum about commercial promotion?
15.
in my experience neo speakers cant produce any where near the same levels of low frequency as the heavy buggers. as a general rule the heavier your equipment the better it sounds! besides its character building!
neo cones have a slight mid hump to them. Its probably that emphasis that you're hearing rather than a lack of anything else.
16.
We have our winner! Sorry, no prize I think i'll add everything else you've put after to the spec as well. I wonder if I did that whether Jon will ever speak to me again?
He would be howling for my blood. Custom features are both a blessing and a curse for him. He doesn't make a lot of money on the additional features people request and the extra time he spends doing them suck up any earnings he had from making the instrument. However the custom bits do provide him with some interest outside the normal models.
17.
Buzz Feiten or something?
Oooh a GUESSING game. Goody goody goody, now let me see... A Status bendwell? A Kubicki drop D extension? A kahler whammy? An onboard valve preamp? A fanned fret fingerboard? An onboard directional air conditioning system for one-foot-on-the-monitor bass solos? A Dalek voice impersonator? A novelty, flavoured, crushed ice dispenser? A 12v powered mini fridge? A combination marital aid/grasping tool/sink plunger with advanced Quantum X (tm) technology for the closest shave ever?
18. I use a tri truck. It's superb over rough ground and can convert into a flat bed trolley too.
19. Using flash isn't a problem if you are sensitive to the range. Not too close and not too far and make sure there are no obstructions in the foreground to light up.
20. Hi Aljan, welcome. Those Hevos amps are supposed to be superb. We've had small chats about them already here.
21. Well I heard today that the "sure thing" job offer that I was expecting has instead turned into a total u-turn and the reasons aren't clear at all. So unfortunately I have to pull out because the cash is going to be more useful than ever now. Good luck with the sale though Scott.
22.
BUGGER! Just bought a 20th Anniversary You want to swap????
Coincidentally, I was looking for a 20th Ann. and I took a look at the NAMM Stingray too before I bought the Cutlass. I'm probably sorted for stingray sounds for the forseeable with the mongrel preEB which I'm keeping. Thanks for the offer though mate.
23. I know there are people who prefer lined boards and I completely understand why. But lines or not, you end up depending on your ears and muscle memory for accurate intonation eventually. Its not impossible if you have enough patience, and a clear sounding backline that isn't over effected or woolly sounding.
Are you angry enough to swap both basses for one SX jazz and then post the fact at the offending forum?
I wondered last night what his reaction might be if someone ever sent him a headstock in the post.
24. PM's replied to
25.
This is the only headless I've ever hankered after. Can't find any of the buggers mind you...
I saw one for sale on a Philippines auction site a couple of weeks ago.
