just be aware that it has EMG pickups, not the original Smith jobbies.

The thing with Bernards playing is learning to play very far behind the beat which you've nailed pretty good, but when he plays fill ins or faster parts they tend to drive a bit. I guess in terms of feel you could say that when he wants to play with a lower profile he's more laid back and when he wants to attract a bit of attention he drives a bit. Not bad work though, I've heard a LOT worse.

Lovely set up! Welcome aboard Scott!
.....ok, leaving myself open here. Loads of posts marked as updated "Today" seem to be last updated back in 2007 when you go there. Am I just being stupid, or is something borked? Awaiting abuse
Don't ask us, we're all ballooooooooooooooooons!!! Mooooooooooo.

Roger is a Shuker endorsee. What an insane piece of carpentry. It must weigh a tonne! Come on then Nick, sell a few basses, get in there and grab it so the rest of us can have a go on it next Bassbash.
Just decided to pop my spare lexicon rackmount mpx100 effects unit into my effects loop. I originally bought it for my recording rig to use to add decent reverbs during tracking or as a monitor mix, etc... which it does very well, but as I don't have any pedals or anything thought i'd try it with my bass. Its got some really nice delays, and some interesting pitch based effects too - anyone else got this unit and got any fave settings they want to share? All I need to do is grab a footswitch to plug into its footswitch port and i'll be sorted.
I have an MPXG2 which is also good, I did have the MPX100 on my shopping list as a less frilly alternative. If I find one at the right price, it might yet still be.

Love the black and gold SR5! Almost came close to buying one myself if a business trip to the US had gone as planned.

Its possible to list the membership using the link at the top of the page by gender. But many members haven't listed their gender including a few members that have already said they're female on the forum. Probably a total of slightly less than 40 declared laydeez out of over 3500.
One Jazz song that I don't specifically hate but do find quite boring to play is 'Fly Me To The Moon', a lot of singers seem to like it but to me it just feels very average.. generic chords, generic melody, generic lyrics etc. plus you always end up playing it in 4/4 because thats the time sig that all the singers learn it in.
That one is on my list to learn for playing the chords, harmony and melody on the Shuker 6 when its finished.
Mine are Take 5 and So what (along with a load mentioned already)....
If you play just the bassline, its tedious but I tend to play the chords and bassline just to fatten it up a bit. Very do-able with just a piano and drums. ERB is a great instrument to play in jazz trios! My list of tedious covers includes: Basin Street Blues (and a lot of other Dixie) On Broadway All Of Me Green Dolphin Street Watch What Happens

I thought the Gear Porn section was doing this? Alternatively you could easily use the wiki for this, it has a full reference and search funtion. However part of the problem with any library is that it needs someone to organise the information so that searches deliver consistent results. Modifying the site directly makes it difficult to update the forum software.
Hello everyone, my name's Paul and I've been "spanking the plank" for nigh on 25 years. I've even been known to occasionally pick up a bass guitar! I currently play in a corporate/function band doing 70's funk & disco type stuff but in between gigs I play with a local rock tribute band doing Ozzy, Rush, Van Halen tunes etc. Gearwise, I use a 1990 Warwick Thumb, Steinberger XL2A and Q4, Musicman Stingrays (fretted and fretless), Ibanez Roadstar (my first bass), a custom bass from a local luthier that looks a bit Musicman/Laklandish, a homebuilt fretless, and a modified acoustic. Amps for the rock gigs is an Ampeg SVT with an 8x10, and for the posh gigs that don't require balls out volume it's a Markbass combo to go through the p.a. I don't use many effects, occasionally a spot of subtle chorus, compression, and a little reverb but not always at the same time!
Welcome aboard I'm also in a soul, funk and disco function band - whats in your set list?
-
I really don't like double pickup stingrays. Its not because I'm a purest but its because I think they have gotten so much wrong with the design. The HS version has a highly variable output level depending on which coil options are selected. Just using a preamp with input buffers would sort this out. The neck humbucker on the HH sounds gutless to me as well. They could wind the pickup to have more impedance to it fattens the sound up a bit. I'd suggest go buy a Lakland if you want stingray sound with another pickup. Or, have a chat with John East?

have you looked at MAudio?

Update: Apparently the kiwi inlay is in and looks good, so the top will be going on shortly. Jon says the bass is likely to be finished in the next 4 weeks!
Yes I'm a massive fan of this stuff - Gene Perez rules! I've jammed along to this stuff for years now
Y'beat me to it. Gene Perez is kind of like the NY equivalent of Julian Crampton in London - the industry's first call funk/house session bass player, primarily by association with a known producer. For Julian Crampton it was Joey Negro, for Gene Perez it was Louis Benedetti. Gene has his musical roots in latin music if I'm not mistaken? I've seen one clip of him playing on Youtube: Whats interesting is Gene's close working relationship with a keyboardist - I can identify with that approach quite closely myself.
I know. He didn't tell me the value of it, but im guessing its going to be in the tens of thousands of pounds. Any ideas?
Probably around £30,000 I expect but if he stuck it up for auction and its provenance was concrete, who knows?
