1. Jeez, I like these basses and this one was used by one of my favourite bass players... ...ghnn... ...must... ...resist...
 2.
Here you go....
LOL Squallypuckerdoo! Bonza mate, no worries!
 3.
At the risk of getting shouted at; I'll play through anything I can hear [s]over the rest of the band[/s] well in the stage sound. All the technical and sonic nuances tend to get a bit lost in some rehearsal and stage situations because of the sheer number of variables involved
But at least if it sounds like crap, you'll be able to make sure its efficiently produced.
 4.
US models will work fine in the EU. There is a distinct design for Australia.
Oh someone please post a pic of an upside down amp...
 5.
Hmmm, now I am thinking maybe a 2x12 and a 2x10. Anyone have any experience playing with this setup?
Right now, it would be my ideal set up as a pair of neo cabs.
 6. I use leathergraft straps - the 4" wide, delux leather ones. Nothing else out there feels as good to me so I got 5 of them. http://www.leathergraft.co.uk/sample.php?swf=deluxe_padded
 7.
Why would it?
Indeed. "is turning into saga now, Dave."
 8.
I'm sure theres a load more things irking Sterling Ball with Steve Barr than a commissioned Lakland bass.
Oh I know there is for sure, but I'm not going to be drawn on it.
 9. Steve is a friend of the forum. Knowing that he used to be pro EB, I'm guessing that has to irk Sterling some.
 10. On my cutlass and stingray I have the following : bass +75%, treble +50% or less depending on how old vintage-y I need the sound.
 11. Based on my limited experience, 10" cones don't focus the low frequencies very well. I'm a fan of 12" cones but you gotta match your set up to the character of your bass. I think 10" cones might sound better with a bright sounding bass like a Spector or Pedulla. 12" cones would sound better with a lower mid prominent bass like a Stingray or Warwick, 15" cones are good with p-bass and the thuddier kinds of vintage designs. I love my EBS neo212, it seems to be all things to all my basses. For a bass that is midscooped like a jazz, a 2x10" and 1x15" offers a nice combination too.
 12. Mark, if you're looking for dep work drop me your details. Mike Brooks normally deps for me but if he's unavailable it would be useful to have a back up.
 13. Man, just get a 1u Class D power amp and run it with your Trace V-type preamp. Personally I'd be looking at a combination of 10" and 12" cabinets though.
 14. this is meant to be Jamie, don't fight it.
 15. Yes, me too. He says he'll be sending some over soon. The neck will be left to settle for quite a few months and then replaned so hopefully its going to be reasonably stable. I suspect the fingerboard will be super dense puriri but we'll see. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the body shape will look like when he gets around to doing that.
 16. Update, he's just glued the neck. He's selected a 7 piece laminate consisting of heart kowhai, tawhai (NZ silver beech) and kohekohe (NZ mahogany). Have to say I don't have a clue what they sound like and Ian is charting new territory as well. The kowhai is very very dense (comes from an old fence post) and the kohekohe is soft so I guess its been choosen for tone. 17. Have you noticed the size of his pupils in that face shot? They're ENORMOUS!! Almost like he's on something.
 18.
Very true. When they arrive, do you think you'll be in the market for an ultralightweight GK head?
Maybe in about 15 years which is how long it took them to start marketing hybrid heads featuring a valve preamp after SWR first introduced them.
 19.
Yes - I'm having a little chat with him tomorrow... M
Sounds like nearly everyone associated with BGM is going to be at the gig.
 20.
and so the interlocking corners wont match up,
I found this with the 210RBH and the combo, the corners were out by about 15mm. Doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.
 21.
and mother of god, I didn't realise the things were so heavy...
Which is as good enough excuse as any to get a Shuttle 6.0 in my book.
 22. another happy customer eh Ben? Clag, did you get to try any of his basses?
 23.
hi guys, i think i've finally decided to go with the GK neo 1001/212 combo. now since there are 2x12 speakers in it, i could either get another 2x12 cab which will lock into place underneath it and fit perfectly. or could i buy the GK neo 410 cab to put underneath it? i'd quite like to have some punchy 10s as well as 12s instead of all 12s. please could you tell me if this would work? (i.e. not topple over) many thnaks
Oh excellent choice Sir. I would love to hear this rig sometime if you fancy coming to one of the Bassbashes. I've just sold on my GK RB700 1x15 combo and a matching 2x10RBH cab. Normally I would suggest that the 2x10 would be a great way to add punch but I didn't find my 2x10 was that punchy. Having said that, it wasn't a Neo cab either. Maybe the Neo cab might be punchier? (Do they make one?)
