here's another one, Cannonball. I remember this one used to get used a lot as incidental music on TV motor racing programmes as they drove around the track on a flying lap... ...it might have been on the Red Arrows performance as part of the Farnborough Air Show highlights as well "and... ...here we are... ...cruising at an altitude of approximately 1300 ft and ...a speed of 650 knots as... ...we go into formation... ...for the first of 106 loops... ...Mrs Flight Lieutenant Sanderson has packed a nice chicken salad for having on the way... ...unfortunately she's put sugar in the flask of coffee... ...a court martial offence I believe in the days of the British Empire..."
It never stopped! Herby is one of the coolest guys on the planet - even playing a tuba wrapped in (mains) fairy lights...
Well crikey flip and call me Grandad, lets have a youtube clip of them. I wish they'd stand up and move about a bit but there's no faulting the musicianship.

I haven't had time to read through 9 pages, so sorry if I repeat: Dry Cleaner From Des Moines - Jaco and Joni Love Games - Level 42 You Keep Me Hanging On - Supremes (w/ James Jamerson) If Thats Your Boyfriend - Meshell Nedgeocello (although you could pretty much include the whole album Plantation Lullabies) You Make Me Wanna Holler - Meshell Nedgeocello Open Letter To A Landlord - Living Colour Toccata in Dm - Sky (with Herbie Flowers, I loved the drums and the bass on that whole Sky II album long before I even started learning a musical instrument. One day its going to be cool to like them again) U Make Me So Hot - Sunburst Band (with Julian Crampton) +1 Good Times - Chic (of course) +1 What's Goin On - Marvin Gaye (w/ Jamerson again) I thought about adding School Days by Stanley but he doesn't really groove like the others.
Did you sell it through the Bass Centre? I tried one exactly like that a couple of years ago and there didn't appear to be anything wrong with the neck at all. In fact if it hadn't been such a hideous colour I may well have bought it! ;-)

Yeah, it was in the bass centre. I went and saw it there but was also put off by the colour!
Hehe, the colour wasn't to everyone's taste but some people on the forum liked it IIRC. Yes it got sold through the Bass Centre, it went pretty quickly as well - within 2 weeks I think. BTW, regarding the neck, although the fingerboard was planed, I had no way of knowing whether the neck would have continued to bow after I sold it on. Hopefully the neck has either reached some kind of equilibrium internally or gone to someone who likes medium to high action anyway.

I tried one out in the Bass Gallery a few weeks back. LOVELY LOVELY bass, it gets the kiwi mark of approval and goes onto the list-of-basses-I-would-love-to-own-but-could-never-justify-buying-for-the-type-of-music-I-play. It's up there with the Yammie BB5NE2, Status Stealth 5 headless, Celinder Larry Graham, Spector NS-5XL, Ken Smith BSR6TN, and Sandberg Ken Taylor custom. Have a bump.

we have a couple of lawyers on the forum I believe...
-
Wow, that was utterly amazing. I really wish others stood up to bullying tactics like that, but not everyone is an experienced lawyer.
I seem to recall that you advertised your dodgy neck fretless here a couple of years ago Crazykiwi. I almost considered buying it! Sure glad I didn't now!
Do you mean the modulus? I ended up getting the fingerboard planed by Rob Green before selling it on. So I made sure the bass was capable of being set up well for the new owner.

Ped had an OLP with a status neck on it once. I think Dr Funk has it now.

no 5 string version from the looks of the Fernandes website. That sucks a bit.
Next morning 7.30 a m,, my house, blokes there with the cash, has a cuppa, and takes the amp out of it, only a couple of things, out she slides, then the starts getting well excited, like shaking a bit, turns out to be a forerunner prototype of the AC50 twin, cause its got the original wooden transformers or something, as rare as hens teeth or similar, this guys a dealer in this stuff, Vox, ect and hes chuffed big time, like the holy grail, hmmmmm
Great story. I've got one too but a little different. Found this Jaydee for sale on Ebay a few years back: From the listing he thought it probably wouldn't be of much interest and the starting price was £90. I made a quick call to John Diggins because it looked to me like someone had chopped the wings off a Roadie, given them a bit of a plane and stuck 'em back on. Only it turned out that this was one of a series of prototype basses that John made for Geezer Butler. So after pondering about whether I'll snap it up, I decided to tell the bloke instead. Turns out he was a really nice chap and a bit down on his luck financially. Geezer was one of his bass heroes too so he was well chuffed and said the bass was going up on his wall at home. Only thing was that it came back up on Ebay about 6 months later and made £560. Turned out that he still needed the money.
That said, the trace V4's are very highly spoken on here.
That reminds me, we're up to one combo owner and one head owner at the moment, aren't we? Plus 3 or 4 V8 owners? BTW Syed, that Fender looks like a monster. Stuff of legend from what I hear.

Blimey, if they make a 5 string, the fret work is OK and the neck wood is stiff enough it might be a bit of a winner as a gigging workhorse. I'll keep an eye out for them when I'm next in Demark Street.

hi jon and welcome I have a GK RB700 combo which I gig regularly with at weddings, birthday parties etc. Its bloody loud but if I ever need extra oomph (say for when we're playing to crowds larger than about 250) then I have a 2x10RBH cab to fit on it as well. Its probably a good amp for your toby because its quite aggressive in the mids so will make it sound punchy. The basses I play are a little scooped sounding so things tend to even out a bit. I guess you could look at getting a set of EMG humbuckers for your bass as well if you fancied a cleaner and even punchier sound. What I like most about the combo is that I can set it up as a wedge point directly up at me so usually I hear myself pretty good. I think they're pretty good value second hand and sometimes they come up on the forum for sale. A number of members use the GK 1001RB you mentioned with lightweight neo cabs like the Epifani 310UL. Again, keep your eyes peeled, they sometimes come up. In fact I believe Platypus is selling his Epi 1x15 UL at the moment.
