1. ...will be ready soon but Ric is waiting for support from another developer and...in line with the last 8 or so developers we've approached...this one is also unreliable. In the meantime, add the Facebook page if you are a FB user and once everyone who is interested has joined, I'll turn it into a closed group and we can have a chat about what Guitarchat should become. 2. I think you'll be OK so long as you're reducing the string spacing rather than increasing it. I prefer 15-16mm at the bridge but can play up to 17.5mm. I'm surprised that you found so many basses with such narrow string spacing!
3. Look for a bass with a Schaller bridge, the string spacing can be adjusted. Or fit a Schaller bridge to a bass you like...
4. Very special instrument. These are a real legacy.
5. After gigging, I went from a rack based system with a Lexicon MPXG2 to a Zoom B3 as I wasn't using more than three effects at once. I see you are though. MPXG2's are dirt cheap right now!
6. Best bass valve amp on the market, no question. I miss mine.
7. great amp - have a bump
8. Should have booked tickets, I work over the road.
9. Great playing What security can you offer members? I think your location might be putting people off.
10. It's the future, I've tasted it.
11. Every graphite neck manufacturer has had issues with consistency. The good news is that things are a lot better now than they were 30 years ago. Its taken 20 years for those responsible for pushing boundaries to learn how to do it properly...apart from Moses jazz necks.
12.
It's the vagiaries of natural materials combined with craftsmanship and a dash of serendipity that give instruments individuality and character. Graphite is just good engineering, every one identical, consistency rather than character. Any one can do that
Consistency depends on the quality of construction. I've had necks on Modulus basses that have been both too hard AND lacking in stiffness. Graphite has its own character.
13.
I was about to try and get a fender jazz with moses neck, are they really crap, what are the issues with them?
Completely lacking in rigidity.
14. Try one and find all the claims about how great graphite necks are blown out the water. Their steinberger necks are very good however. So its not the brand, its moer the design of the jazz necks.
15.
but not only do graphite necks stay in tune regardless of temperature changes
You need to try a Moses jazz bass neck then.

I met Nolly last year...didn't know who he was. Still a great bass though. Very growly.
17. Don't Stop Til You Get Enough - Jackson 5 Loads of lovely fills that you can stretch out on and a groove that tests anyone's ability to play behind the beat. There are quite a few Stevie Wonder songs that have lovely unison fills too - Do I Do, Superstition, Master Blaster etc. Very satisfying to play.
18.
BBNE2 is reasonably priced... apart from in the UK. I remember I bought one brand new at £1150 off the Yamaha rep when they were about £1800. Just look at them now
At one point they were available to the UK from a Japanese retailer for about £1400. They're priced pretty steeply in Europe too.
19.
Yamaha basses have been solidly good for as long as I have been playing. Having said that, pretty much everything made by them from instruments to motorbikes and everything in between are spot on.
They're my pick too - very solid and dependable instruments, always reasonably priced (apart from the BBNEII).
20. Must do my best to go...
21. Wow...is Sharay playing London...?
22. Wals are lovely but have you tried these yet? Pedulla Pentabuzz (loads of sustain with lots of bright mwah) Ashbory bass (Rubbery sound a little like an upright and very even response) Godin Acoustibass (light weight and very resonant) NS Wav upright (long scale add huge depth and bloom to the notes) All of them are standard setting fretless instruments in their own way.
23. £500 raised for charity too, which is outstanding. Thank you Nik and Colin.
24. Does this mean you have an infestation of basses?
25. Yeah, but all I'm saying is that this was the prevailing opinion after the novelty wore off. IIRC 1212L's were pretty popular back then and the other models may not have been given the same consideration. Lozz mentioned prominent mids during the summary so it seems the tide might be turning - mid hump or not.
