1. Jewish wedding tunes. Mind numbingly tedious root fifthing.
2.
Zombie thread time Any updates?
I had discussed going over to Jon's at the end of this month assuming I had my car back by then...which I don't...and then plans for my wedding in China took over but consequently moved on only to be replaced by a huge public consultation event at work...the wedding is now planned for September. To be frank, I've given up struggling against my circumstances at the moment...but whenever I do it, I'd like to drive up and give the car a decent fizzing on the way. Driving through the Peak District is pretty amazing.
I remember this beautiful thing!
Did you see it hanging up?
3.
Hard to measure accurately but a according to t'internet all status 5 ers are 18mm apart from kingbasses. Hope it helps.
My series 1 thru neck has spacing of 15mm (which FWIW happens to be perfect for me.)
4. Perhaps some people would like to believe that, as a measure of quality, the specs are a substitute for being able to hear the cabs. I believe there's a happy balance between technical efficiency and "character" but we all have to find out what that is for ourselves. Claber is on top of that with the try out offer he has for his Barefaced cabs. We went down the same road on here with graphite necks a number of years ago. Composite necks are very efficient at transferring energy but not all graphite necks sound the same...ironically they tend to sound better if they have a little bit of give in them...in my experience. But not too much.
5. So...Mark King's now playing a 'Behringer'. Who'd have thought...?
6. I've gone back to DI.FM No control over the play lists but the music is still good.
7.
I think you can tell from the astonishing success of the Westone Rail and the Gibson Grabber just how much this feature has caught the imagination of bassists the world over.
Quite a few manufacturers have had a go. Alembic did it back in the early 70's, Spalt have a sliding pickup and Bob Daisley developed a bass with sliding individual coils per string.
8. They were my preferred music provider - they had lots of great ambient, house and funk tracks and helped me discover music from Rykksopp, Tycho and Grant Edwards. But I never knew they were unlicensed. 9. One bass, two humbucking pickups with coil splits for single coil and parallel settings. Tweak the pickup pan and roll the treble off if you need to but keep the mids and bass constant or you'll get dirty looks from the soundman.
10. This is what the Fender Jazz should have evolved into. Best bass that Fender have ever made IMHO.
11. John Pattucci had a similar set up on his Lag Jazz bass I believe. This was back in the late 80s though.
12. If I get compliments, I generally credit my 12u rack mounted backline filled with esoteric 80's japanese delays and US boutique compressors along with my 6 string pitch to MIDI bass and intersonic servo drive subwoofer.

14.
Really? In what way?
Clean and powerful, reasonably versatile.
15. These came up in my own research. They came highly recommended on various review sites and Youtube.
16.
As far as I know, the bassist on the JCS tour was Ian King. Phenomenal player.
He has been a member on here on and off. Its a great show but the Australian music tour (just songs, not acting) blew me away. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6PxaBYnOGw John Farnham as Jesus, Kate Cebrano as Mary and the indomitable John Stevens as Judas - what voices!!
17. is that the band our admin Charic was lined up with for an all too brief moment?
