2. OK I'm taking this off the market. Compared to the other stuff, this doesn't take up too much space anyway.

4. Yes, and I've been saying so on here for the last 8 years. Some combinations that sound very articulate in my experience include: Musicman Stingray through almost anything valve powered e.g. Mesa Boogie Bass 400 or Trace Elliot V8 and 2x12" cabs Musicman Stingray through Warwick amps (e.g. CL150 combo and WA600 head) and 2x12 cabs Modulus Quantum SS through SWR SM400 (the SWR tamed brittle highs and added lots of warmth to a fairly sterile sounding bass - could be a good combination for Status Empathy users too) Fender Jazz through SWR SM400 Fender Jazz through Eden WT500 Fender Jazz through Mark Bass CMD121 combo Smith and Spector basses through GK RB700 or Trace Elliot AH300 4x10 combo or Ashdown MK sig head and 4x10 or EBS HD350 and 410 Jaydee Mark King Sig/Status Series 2000 and Trace Elliot (Mk V or earlier though with matching 410 cabinet, Series 6 AH250 I used with SWR Triad was a bit gutless) Fender Precision with flatwounds through Ampeg SVT Classic + 810 fridge Alembic Series basses and any PA system (!) Smiths/Spectors through Genz Benz Shuttle Combinations that haven't worked are usually due to clashes between the coloured characters of the backline and instruments include: Anything, apart from a Fender with flats, through an Ampeg SVT Classic and 810 (poorly defined highs) Smith through SWR SM400, SWR Basic350 and Eden WT800 (poorly defined mids) Smith through Mark Bass CMD121 combo, Ampeg SVTClassic (poorly defined highs and lows) Status Empathy or Musicman Stingray through GK RB700 or EBS HD350 (ear bleedingly brittle sounding unless using tweeterless cabs) Surprises with non Fender basses: Ampeg SVT6Pro - very warm and clean (even through a tweeterless cab). Matched my Smith very well. Eden WT500 - very articulate in the mids but not brittle - again, good for any basses lacking midrange definition
5. Guitar Rig Kontrol will do what you ask easily. Not sure if a software based solution is what you are after though.
6. Erm...I know you had reasons for not selling up but were you aware there was a Basic model which fitted your requirements almost precisely? http://www.sandberg-guitars.de/basscat-overview/basic-series-top/basic-kt
7. These kinds of nuggets are why I keep coming back here...
8. Labella Flatwounds I believe.
9. I had to learn a 36.5 bar bass solo for this song, cycling through three different key signatures and two time signatures which I forgot to transcribe or record. EDIT: Apparently that was just the bridge in Cuddly Toy. No wonder it didn't sound right.
10. Interesting - not much to back up the provenance considering the asking price is nearly £2000. Also if it was me in would have cannibalised another G88/G77 for the electronics rather than install an updated set.
11. Those ASIO drivers always seem to be the weakest link in my experience. If it's not latency, it's instability.
12. Sigh - gorgeous. Best fretless ever made.
13. Thanks for your support, guys. Welcome back Vail.
14. We actually have plans for something similar to this thread on a semi permanent basis - slightly different budget but, I'm interested to see how popular this thread becomes.
15. Or you could consider going down the hardware route and avoid redundancy from windows updates - check out the classifieds perhaps for synth modules? *cough*
16. As part of the phase two of my clear out of stuff, I have two of these ABS plastic racks available in anticipation of selling the synth modules they've been housing. This one is in great condition and has been used only for home use (and to protect rack gear during shipping). This case has one of the wing nuts replaced with a normal nut and tightened into a permanently 'latched' position. The case lid is still secure, it just means the wing nut side goes on after the permanently fixed side. Parts are available for free from SKB and if you live in London I can recommend a very good reasonably priced luggage repairer off Baker Street. I've never needed to bother myself - the rack worked fine for home and occasional gig use. Specifications: • Exterior depth: 21.50" (54.61 cm) • Exterior width: 22" (55.88 cm) • Exterior height: 9.5" (24.13 cm) • Rack space units total: 4 • Rack depth front rail to back lid: 15.94" (40.48 cm) • Rack depth front lid to back lid 18.94" (48.10 cm) • Lid depth: 2.50" (6.35 cm) • Weight: 12.20 lbs. 18. I bought this off Merton about 5 years ago but have moved away from racks since getting a second GB Shuttle 6. This amp has seen its share of work but is more than capable of dealing with any musical situation it's thrown into. What you get is 1u class D amp putting 350w into left and right channels at 4 ohm. There are additional sockets so that up to two speakers per channel can be added and the whole lot can be bridged for the full 750w. I powered this amp up recently after being in storage for 18 months and there was a loud hum from the power amp through both channels regardless of gain or volume controls. It might be a dry solder joint or it might be new caps - neither are likely to be an expensive repair but I just don't have the time to take it to a repairer - hence the cheap as chips asking price. Although superceded by the 2080, reviews suggest the 1080 still sounds fatter. Many of the 128 presets are instantly recognisable, it has 64 voices of polyphony and 16 part multi timbral meaning you can plug a MIDI guitar (or bass) into it and have one string per MIDI channel. It's STILL fully capable of holding its own with any recent offerings from other manufacturers. I'm also including the SR-JV80-04 Vintage Synth expansion card which includes an additional 255 waveforms and 255 patches featuring numerous old analogue instruments and electronic effects.
