Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to allow for those and customers would end up paying them regardless, even if I had sufficient volume in sales to justify UK based warehousing. Another option would be to bring a stock of necks over personally as checked baggage but the quantities would be limited and I could only do it during a public holiday here in China (Late January, August and, at a pinch, first week in October). Update: Shipping... I've spent the last day reaching out to various shipping companies. My regular guy quoted me 2000RMB (over 200 quid) to express UPS ship to the UK in 4-6 days. I said 'no'. Another company has offered 390RMB for the same delivery based on some BS volumetric/weight calculation. However, it made me wonder if I could combine two necks in a single shipment but then the reciever would have to make sure one neck got to it's respective owner. If two BCers are open to collaborating it could slash the shipping charges in half.

My Classic 5 is: Nut width: 44.1mm Neck depth at nut: 20.5mm 12th fret width: 60.9mm Neck depth at 12th fret: 23.8mm Heel thickness: 28.3mm Width at 21st fret: 69mm <- this might be incompatible with your SUB5 neck if it has a 22 fret neck heel. Yes. To get a firm price, I'll need to weigh the package and enter the measurements. I don't have that information to hand because I don't have the necks yet. I will supply an educated guess based on some assumptions about the weight of the neck but it will be subject to confirmation. Initial enquiries for UPS/DHL express shipping (3-5 days) are eyewatering and I've asked if there are cheaper 'priority' options. I don't know what the shipping companies are smoking but I will look into insured rail and sea as well but the shipping times will be significantly longer. Options for every neck are fingerboard focussed. Options beyond that, e.g. nut widths, number of strings etc. are going to be subject to MoQ, or the custom route is an option.

Can you provide SUB neck measurements? Nut width and depth, width and depth at 12th fret and at the heel plus heel length? I suspect there might be differences to discourage neck swapping between models but I can compare your measurements (if you have them) to my bass and we can both take a view.

This neck is based on the Classic 5 neck with measurements taken off my own bass but with a narrow nut (43mm). The photo above shows my own commission, to explore the feasibility of offering fingerboard binding at some point in the future and to demonstrate what a wooden fingerboard and custom inlays might look like. I've been told the Classic 5 neck will also fit the 21 fret USA SUB5 as well (which was a precursor to the Classic 5) but not the 22 fret Indonesian made Sterling SUB5. Great, narrow or original nut width? This is very much my aspiration, having owned four of them. I'm not sure how much of the Cutlass sound was due to the less rigid neck though. I guess we shall see, I'm definitely planning on getting an SR5 neck made for my Classic 5 and then it'll be the closest thing to a 5 string Cutlass out there, with the vintage eq.

@Raslee and @RaNoFuNkY mentioned they would be interested in a narrow SR4 neck with a 38mm nut (and there are some wooden necked versions out there in the wild.) Yes, blocks are available for a £30 upcharge, 22 fret fingerboard is no charge. I haven't overlooked this interest. As mentioned, I'm personally tempted by a SR5 neck. The neck off my preEB could be used for the other mold. This is very feasible but I have to avoid being stretched in too many directions at once right now. So if the jazz bass necks don't go ahead, maybe we will try SR5 and SR4 to see what broader interest there might be.

If I had a template to follow, preferably in CAD I could do it. But again I'm reluctant to offer guarantees about fit when fractions of a millimetre matter so much. Yes, it's possible. Timescale depends on how long it takes to reach the minimum order quantity, fabrication will take a month after the orders are recieved. The heel can't been pre-drilled because the location of the holes depend very much on where the holes in the body are located and different basses may have holes that are out by a fraction of a millimetre - which matters when it comes to the neck. However, inserts and neck bolts will be included. Drilling the holes is relatively straight forward if you have brad pointed drill bits, clamps and a drill press. Just install the neck in the body pocket, make sure it's a good fit against the longer side of the neck pocket and mark the holes by putting a drill bit or something pointy and the same diameter as the holes. Then just twist so the end makes a mark in the heel and then transfer the neck to a drill press, clamp it securely and drill out the mark with a brad pointed drill bit that almost matches the diameter of the inserts. Then screw the inserts until flush, add a blob of superglue to each and install the neck in the body.
