Is it my imagination or did RDJ sound remarkably like Sting?.........overdubs?? Surely not.
Well, he's singing a Sting song so the melody will be similar (sort of speaky)...and Sting sings in an American accent...in the true British rock n roll tradition... I love the space in Stings songs. He's an amazingly elegant song writer.

Glad it was appreciated.

Perfect transaction with David - great comms, outstanding packing and delivery.

yeah I'd always assumed chorus after distortion, but that TH2 vid does it the other way around. The MPX is a swiss army knife in terms of routing options. It's possible to do stuff with it that makes you wish it was over 16 and came from a liberated family.

Show some love for...Burman guitar amps! What do you own?
Kiwi replied to Kiwi's topic in Guitar Amplifiers
Thats probably because people like us talk them up on forums. I've seen prices shoot up on graphite necked Alembics because of forum activity. Having said this, that particular amp is in spectacular condition. There's another for sale at the moment so don't be too disappointed even if its not in the same nick. -

Got any pics/vids? I've seen them for sale as well and wondered what the clean sound was like. -
Bassists who don't play in bands - what do you do?

I like to dress up like Mark King and slap my Pangborn in front of the mirror. "Lessons in luuuuuurve...[BAD PANGBORN! BAD PANGBORN!] when will we ever learn...ALAN MURPHAY!" Yes, its a real Pangborn - not a special name. -
Why do players like P90's? I'm curious and uneducated...

Have you been tempted to refinish it?
I'm sure that this has probably been discussed here before
Yeaaaaaaah you could say that... OK, I have a patch on the MPXG2 which is called 'Boston'...IIRC it had too much distortion and lacked some note definition in the attack. But if/when I'm in the same country as the unit, I might explore in more detail and see if I can wind back the comp a little.

Wear is hard to do convincingly - but when done well, more scars during the course of gigging makes it look better!

I narrowly missed out on a Fender Concert (Rivera era) last week. But it had been modded for metal distortion...why the owner didn't get a Boogie for that is beyond me, but hey ho. I've been checking out vids of the Cornford Carrera this week and have been impressed by the sound of the 6v6 power valve. Remarkably Fender like...but the amps are more expensive than the Concert I'd been bidding on. -

Really? Prices seem to be going up then. Not sure if that's a good thing... -
Scholz was part of Boston, wasn't he?

Its also waiting for its own dedicated site - bloody developers are unreliable, we're currently on number 7 who is looking like they don't know the difference between public and private pHp keys. Welcome aboard though Jalapeno Why not stick around and contribute to the mix, good things are planned.

We had when BC started out but a group of members were block liking each others posts like the former soviet states during the Eurovision song contest and using their enhanced status to bully and undermine new members. A rating system for content would be useful but that experience demonstrated that some people will exploit it and attempt to undermine the sense of community on here. So if we had one, it should be capable of being reduced as well as increased. The standard invision rating system doesn't work like that unfortunately.

I'm trying to get that smooth Magnum PI type sound - doesn't have to be exactly that sound but the sort of thick, chorused distortion that was common in the 80's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OTvTv0EgIg Please tell me if this is right: Guitar-->distortion-->chorus-->compressor-->amp ? It doesn't sound like it when I set this up.

I have a noise free and compact rig at home - a Lexicon MPXG2 into a Burman Pro501. I have about 5 or so patches - one for Nile Rodgers sounds, one for Andy Summers, one for Edge riffs, one for Joe Satch and one for David Gilmour. Still find myself wondering about certain pedals though, like a cry baby wah pedal, as that wah has a very specific character that the same setting on the MPXG2 doesn't do so distinctively. How have some of you made decisions about the route you go down re: effects? Do you have a signature sound that you adapt for different songs or do you have a whole range of pedals that you use more creatively to explore stuff?

If the community helped itself a little, particularly regular/active members, by using the report button, it'll provide the mods with a clear basis on which to take action. It helps give the mods an idea of where boundaries of acceptability lie on matters such as taste or offence. It also helps to avoid tension bottling up and venting threads like the "whats happened to BC recently" thread. While they're popular, they can tend to have a negative influence on the atmosphere of the forum. Sometimes thats OK if temporary but more than a week of that and visiting the forum can become less attractive. If the most active members can help set an example through their own posting and challenge antisocial behaviour where they find it, before reporting, I'm confident that it'll create the best possible outcome in the long run for everyone.

I'm surprised it lasted this long. I unsubscribed back in 2004 after one particular member decided being alpha male meant repressing or undermining any views that didn't agree with his own.
