1. Nice! Funny how many people replaced the stock pickups in those days... Not unlike my own, but with no buckle rash. Mind you, you don't get that in the loft.
2. Bit like Clarky, we hung around so our drummer could get his arm back working properly (ligaments, I think). He then decided he'd rather be a dad than drum, having fathered a child in the meanwhile - despite being the youngest grandfather I've met. 'I want to be a better dad this time around' - what can you say to that? But while this was going on he'd been moonlighting with a previous band! Drummers, eh? can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em.
3. Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo by Johnny Winter.
4. Don't know how to say this, but it looks like your kid's been nat your bass with some felt tip pens.
5.
I have drawn comparisons with John Entiwstle
Is that John Entiwstle of the How? Don't worry I do it all the item...
6. Worked with Charlie in the Eighties. Charming man, and so knowledgeable. If you're interested go to www.cherryred.tv where there's a lengthy and recent interview with him.
7. I'm interested in the 1989 Fender signature thing as I have an '89 L-1000 with Leo Fender signature on. Anyone know more about this controversy?
8. Don't mod your Precision - no need to mess with a classic. And do you play Message In A Bottle in the recorded key? I'm having trouble getting up to the high notes! Good luck Mick
9.
Sad indeed, but it's already been covered here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=79040
Worth clicking the link though!
10. Can't help. Bobby but since I have a similar and reliable piece of kit I am struck with terror! Will be looking at the conclusions of others with interest. Good luck!
11.
Is it terribly wrong to confess that I so would have 'done' a young Ozzy?
Shaaaarrrroooon!
12.
I would go and see the CBB again anytime. fantastic band.
Sadly Colin Cooper, the sax player/deep singer is no longer with us - passed away about a year ago. What a band, though...ta for the clip
13. Do you know I would never have recognised you?! Bump for a good fella and a good looking bass.
14. I have never had a nut break on me, but my son's Stagg (bought for Xmas) is suffering. How difficult is it to get a replacement nut, and fit it? Do these things come in standard sizes or are they unique to each bass? He's been to a music shop but they are umming and ah-ing. Any help welcome - I can't believe I'm not better informed! Mick
15. My last departure was at the end of a good gig. Handed back my bits of band-supplied gear and said 'I'll deputise until you've got a replacement but that's it'. Amazingly the singer, who'd started firing off abusive emails to me, was the most surprised! Anyhow, it was the best move I ever made as I am now in two far better bands.
16.
(and no comments about the Chelsea game!!)
Well, it's definitely the wrong colour...
17. Upper or lower - sorry, hard or soft - case?
18. Danny Thompson offered me outside once. Mistaken identity, but I wouldn't want to cross him, jovial though he may be!
