  1. Is it audience reaction (eg the number of people dancing/clapping along), how you play yourself, the overall tightness of the band, the sound? Let’s try percentages: audiences: you: band: other.
  2. I have spent my first weekend as a guest at a Warners Leisure Hotel. They get musical acts in for weekends, and Saturday’s was quite a big name tribute act. They play theatres at the £30 price point and have toured internationally. So clearly this cut-down show was a money maker. I got the feeling they weren’t putting their all into it, with the audience perhaps more subdued than they were accustomed to. Have you played one of these types of venue and what are your experiences?
  3. Ed, pop sold in the (edited) headline and the thread will close. Ta!
  4. Thank you all for your comments! Very helpful indeed. Mick
  5. Anyone used this site to sell gear? Aka Gardiner Houlgate. Opinions welcomed, thanks!
  6. I would pay to play the legendary Hope. What a great pub rock venue it was… All the best with it, enjoy the experience, get photos taken and post them here so we can share the fun!
  7. I don’t deny what you’re saying, Blue, but I object to being described as old😂
  8. Just pop sold in the title by editing and it will automatically close thread!🙏
  9. A spare is permissable! As I mentioned, he actually played all three. Now I can tell the difference between Gibson and Fender but wasn’t sure why the Spector. I have played that venue with an Elf and 1x10: this gentleman had an Ashdown head and 8x10. My ears are still ringing…
  10. Saw a fairly standard blues trio last night playing in an arts centre. The bassist started with a Gibson EB0, went on to a Stingray and swopped back, playing a Spector for one song. That was only in the first half, we left as the volume- especially from him - was crazy loud. How many basses do you take on stage?
  11. Alexa, who is the fairest of them all?😁
  12. Well before, before even Gang of Four. She’d just arrived in London… wouldn’t say boo to a goose. We were looking for a Chrissie Hynde!😳
  13. My dinner party story is auditioning Eddi Reader when she was an unknown and rejecting her because (a) she was so shy and (b) had an obnoxious boyfriend/manager. Just think how much better she’d have done with me… 😂
  14. A small point, but his name was Osborn. Just in case someone is using a search engine to find one… Lovely bass!
  15. On behalf of @King Tut - an excellent show by the Verity Bromham Band in Wimborne. Classic rock with a side order of humour, good fun and recommended!
