  1. Can we come up with a set of songs that contain the word tattoo, as in the Pretenders’Tattooed Love Boys’?
  2. We’ll be spending a few days and nights there next month and wondered if anyone who’s been could alert us to places of musical merit. Thank you! Mick
  3. Otis Jay Blues Band’s second gig at the Ringwood Meeting House outside Bournemouth brought in 30-odd (odd!) people. The venue now has an easy-assemble stage that means those in the pews can see us from knees up rather than the waist! £8 admission shared with the venue, so a good time for a good cause. Playing places like this is a real bonus. As ever recently, my Flea went through an Elf/BF One10 mini rig. Just about sufficient.
  4. Remember seeing you with Micky Kemp👍
  5. Faith: Hugh Burns The song began life in May 1987 at PUK Studios, Denmark with Michael doing a 2-bar LinnDrum loop and Hugh Burns playing the Bo Diddley-style acoustic rhythm guitar part on a nameless metal-bodied acoustic. Perfect: Mark Nevin https://www.songwritingmagazine.co.uk/how-i-wrote/perfect-fairground-attraction#:~:text=British folk-pop band,single%2C Perfect%2C in 1988.
  6. This fine gentleman bought an amp I was selling on behalf of a late friend. Made the potentially complicated transaction easy. Deal with confidence.
  7. Ringwood, Hampshire - historic venue, ancient band!
  8. Joe is a credit to Basschat. Unreservedly recommended, deal with confidence.
  9. An absolute gentleman who made the complicated transaction I brokered very simple and straightforward. A recommended Basschatter without a doubt.
  10. Derrick bought one of @yorks5stringer’s amps. Made the transaction so easy. Nothing but praise for this fella!
  11. With respect, John, I couldn’t agree with you less. Though logic is on your side it is, for me, one of those songs that sends chills. Maybe if i had heard the original first I wouldn’t think that way. Awaiting the Poole Town choir’s version of ‘Tubthumper’😁
  12. Our second gig at an amazing venue, a former Methodist meeting house sitting pretty in the midst of a shopping centre that grew up around it! It’s difficult, as we usually play free admission venues. But the £8 is split between us and the venue. Beer is club prices and is delivered direct to the pew. Starts 7.30 and all over by 9.30 so not a late Friday night at all. We - Otis Jay Blues Band - got 49 paying customers last time. You could be the difference🙏

  16. I had the Ibanez version of this. The case wouldn’t fit in my car!!
  17. The Mustang Sally of punk !
  18. Selling on behalf of the late @yorks5stringer’s family. Could be picked up from SW Bass Bash, alternatively, or could be sent. Pics added. ONE AND ONLY PRICEDROP TO £295. Keith kept his gear in great nick. Combo has a cover as pictured. Thanks for looking!
  19. Selling on behalf the late @yorks5stringer’s family. Price is for the two together, but would consider splitting. Both have covers. Priority to those who can collect. Keith always looked after his gear, so be assured they are in excellent condition. Thanks for looking!
  20. Postscript to above post-but-one: Robert and Keith, our singer, we’re on a college course with a certain John Deacon - two of the three feature in this…
  21. Benefit for Amnesty international in Bournemouth with the Otis Jay Blues Band. Flea through Barefaced One10 and Elf. We had a dep drummer and guitarist - the mighty Robert Ahwai, who played for 30 years with Chris Rea and replaced Jeff Beck in the Jeff Beck Group (Hummingbird). He had been at college with our singer 50 years ago and, though they’d lost contact since, came down to do the gig gratis - good bloke and a fine player. Turned out our drummer had seen Rob playing at Ronnie Scott’s in the 70s with Gonzales … small world!
