  1. I have got 90 per cent of my bands gigs, came up with the name and supply the PA. Yet I bend over backwards to give everyone an equal say. I thought I was okay with that, but have just joined a second band where all I do is turn up, play and obey what the BL says… BTW Keith (post two above), they never deserved you!
  2. I have discovered that Nigel isn’t at all well. He fell, broke a few ribs and punctured a lung back around October and has since been in and out of hospital. He is back in at the moment. Nigel has been a stalwart of this board for many years and interacted with many of us. Please keep him in your thoughts. Edit: Updated with funeral arrangements
  3. I thought it might stand for something/someone…
  4. Steely Dan?😁
  5. Don’t be shy folks… say who you play with!😘
  6. SDJ = ?
  7. New autobiography of Stray singer-main man. I have Kindle edition so this is an unread duplicate. £12.50 posted UK Info: 240 pages paperback. Rock And Roll Survivor charts all the ups and downs of Del Bromham — guitarist, singer and songwriter for the rock band Stray. Del’s story takes you back on his ‘Time Machine’ to share recollections of his life. Born, and growing up in the 1950s. Becoming a teenager in London during the ‘swinging 60s’. Forming his first band and learning his musical apprenticeship playing the clubs at the age of fourteen years in his brothers group. Constantly on tour with Stray he recalls tales of Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmister and touring with Kiss and Rush to name but a few. Meeting the Mafia Boss Joe Pagano. His associations with Wilf Pine and Charles Kray (elder brother of the infamous Kray twins) at the offices of the equally infamous Don Arden, along with Arden’s daughter Sharon (who became Osbourne). Charting the ups and many downs of being a musician over fifty years in the music business. With forewords by life-long Stray fans, The Damned’s Captain Sensible and Iron Maiden’s Steve Harris, this is a true rollercoaster ride.

  8. Yolanda Charles is doing one locally, but I have received Facebook flak for suggesting its a tad overpriced at £35. https://m.facebook.com/groups/209662726215011/permalink/1547836445730959/ What would you be prepared to pay?
  9. Bob knows how to build a show. Johnnie is past it these days, sadly - and prefers the Sixties anyway.

  14. Welcome To The Vault is the first-ever Steve Miller Band rarities collection and features 52 songs that span Miller’s career, including 38 previously unreleased recordings and 5 never-before-heard songs. With demos, rehearsal takes, newly unearthed compositions, classic concert recordings, and more, Miller has dived into the vaults with a celebratory collection that’s bound to please any fan. There are alternate takes of classics like “Rock’n Me,” “Fly Like An Eagle,” “Jet Airliner,” and “Space Cowboy,” alongside gems from their early lineup. Among them are a 10-minute cover of Little Walter’s “Blues With a Feeling” from San Francisco’s Fillmore West and “Super Shuffle,” recorded at the band’s appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival. The set also includes a new, big band version of “Take The Money and Run,” recorded with blues guitarist Jimmie Vaughan as part of the Jazz at Lincoln Center series. Blues tunes also abound, including covers of Otis Rush, Robert Johnson, and Willie Dixon. In an unexpected twist, the blues ace T-Bone Walker is also featured performing his hit “Lollie Lou” in Miller’s living room in 1952. Rounding out the music is Miller’s own rendition of that tune, recorded at his T-Bone Walker: A Bridge from Blues To Jazz tribute concert. The DVD is also a veritable treasure trove of rarities, featuring 21 performances. There’s rare footage from Monterey Pop, a concert appearance at Fillmore West from 1970, and a 43-minute concert broadcast from New York’s Palace Theater in 1973. There’s a collaboration with James Cotton from their 1974 appearance on ABC In Concert, a live rendition of “Abracadabra: from 1982, excerpts from the band’s Austin City Limits appearance in 2011, and footage of Steve Miller performing with his godfather Les Paul in 1990. The discs are housed in a deluxe box accompanied by a 100-page book that includes photos from Miller’s extensive archive and a 9,000-word essay by David Fricke. Miller has also thrown in guitar picks featuring his iconic Pegasus logo, and even an authentic backstage pass from the vault.
