  1. Good god, Pete, beat that… All i can offer is interviewing Gary Moore on the phone some months after he did the dirty deed. My mag had taken him to task and I was told if I mentioned it the phone would go down…😂
  2. Did you make him smile, Mike - yay or neigh? 🐎
  3. Very smart! I clocked the headstock. Bit like Billy Talbot of Crazy Horse fame.
  4. What bass are you using?
  5. If Linda had joined Squeeze, it might have saved the world from Jools Holland!😂
  6. Can’t be Diana Ross… she’s in tune!😂
  7. Just had my annual sub taken automatically… the best value I’ll get all year. Basschat has been a part of my online life for nearly two decades (well, over one and a half). It has made me friends, got me at least one keeper bass (Sonic the Jazz) and informed me on a wide range of matters. So thank you Basschat and all behind the scenes who keep her afloat!🙏
  8. Some gear sales have stuck in my mind years later… Bought a Hohner Pianet keyboard - remember them?- from a young jazz musician. His name, Django Bates, on the receipt meant nothing, but I later saw him rise to fame in his field. I never forget a name…well, not that kind of name.😁 The guitar player of the Keys, 80s power pop combo produced by Joe Jackson, bought a Maine 50w combo from me. My wife insisted on him signing a single she had - sadly, he declined to perform the song in our kitchen! Finally, in 1981, I sold a PA system to an Oi! Band, or similar. They played me a song I still can’t get out of my heads that would have been a hit for the Angelic Upstarts. The chorus ran T-D-Ayyyy T-D-Ayyyy Taking…and driving…awayyyyyy! Catchy AF!👏
  9. Nice one, Len! All available on Kindle, but I noticed a physical copy of Maybe on ebay today for £6.60 post paid! A bargain for someone…
  10. No, it was the bass. The body looked like my Vintage Jaco!
  11. Just wanted to recommend a book that’s on Amazon Kindle at £1.99 right now. I run a blues appreciation group in the local u3a and got a couple of local musicians in to do a presentation. One of these was John Holmes, who has mixed with some big names - Andy Fraser invited him to audition as Kossoff’s replacement - without ever ‘making it’. Mind you, seeing the car he drives I bet he’s happy he kept his day job (financial services, since you ask). Anyhow this book was his lockdown project and I found it both fascinating and hilarious. I have no affiliation, nor am I on a cut of the royalties, just wanted to recommend a book that will entertain anyone of my ancient vintage … or anyone who has toiled in the semi-pro world. Written by a down to earth, self-deprecating guy. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wing-Night-Years-Semi-Pro-Guitarist-ebook/dp/B095SLVFMG/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1AOMWO4EEGNNM&keywords=john+holmes+book+music&qid=1655899896&s=books&sprefix=john+holmes+book+music%2Cstripbooks%2C59&sr=1-4 Do let me know if you enjoy it… or not!
  12. Just parted with one of these, and concur!
  13. Welcome! Where are you based?
  14. I had an OLP MM2 - two pickup Stingray clone - and anchored on the neck pickup. Easy for a P player like me…
  15. How much Motown did she actually do? The three songs I suffered on Radio 2 were all obviously new pastiches… The Supremes were the first headlining band I saw - admittedly just post-Ross, in 1973.
  16. Just bumping this great opportunity. Think Steeleye with mire drugs, the Airplane with less!
  17. He - Martyn S, that is - is still around and still reliable! Deal with confidence. RIP MB1, however…❤️🎸
  18. ELO(E)+OBBM= ? 😂
  19. He is actually a humble chap. He came to the dressing room (tent) of a friend of mine, Deke Leonard, to get a single signed - Man’s Sudden Life - that he’d bought as a teenager. Unusual for a bill-topper, I was impressed.
