I have sponge under my bridge cover on the grounds that I can take it out and the rounds sound brighter. If you have flats you only have the one option...

Note - rather than start a new topic I have bumped this one... Now down to the last copy, so don't hang around, this will be its last Christmas! DEKE LEONARD - THE TWANG DYNASTY Guitarist-singer Deke Leonard was a founder member of Welsh rock’n’roll band Man. He served with them, give or take a couple of sabbaticals, from 1968 until 2004, when he became a solo artist, broadcaster and raconteur. (A series for Radio Wales based on his writing saw him nominated for a Sony Award.) I was proud to be his publisher from 1996 until his death in 2017, and have posted several book extracts on Basschat over the years for general amusement. A link to one is pasted below. I have a dozen new copies of his third book, The Twang Dynasty. It is Deke’s analysis of the most influential guitarists in popular music, acclaimed by Classic Rock as ‘the most illuminating, idiosyncratic, illuminating and entertaining book on the subject available anywhere’. It has 44 Amazon reviews, rating 4.5 stars, and was Book of the Month in Guitar and Bass magazine. It's a great Christmas present idea for yourself or any music-loving friend, and I am delighted to offer it at £12, UK postage inclusive... RRP was £17.99. Once these books have gone, that's it from me - so drop me a line if you're interested. Be warned - its 371 pages long, and you may find yourself unable to put it down!

Now sold The Grail Guitar: The Search for Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze Telecaster. Fascinating 208-page hardback, personally signed by the author. £23.95 on Amazon, selling at £12. New condition. Chris Adams takes readers on a fascinating mystery tour to determine whether a Fender Telecaster bought secondhand in a London music store in 1973 was the one used by Jimi Hendrix to record "Purple Haze" in January 1967. The only clues are its left-handed tuners and the salesman's chance remark that the guitar was brought into the shop by a Hendrix roadie. But these are enough to set the author off on this intriguing journey into Hendrix history. With firsthand details from model Linda Keith, who discovered Hendrix in New York, Adams recounts how the rising star left for London with a white Stratocaster belonging to Keith Richards. The man who made Hendrix's pedals explains how this Strat failed to make the "Purple Haze" recording session and how it was replaced by a borrowed Telecaster. As Adams tracks down the surviving musicians, they shed light on the fate of that Telecaster and gradually the two guitars begin to merge into one. Throughout, Adams weaves his own story as a rock musician and tells how, against the odds, he managed to hold on to this remarkable instrument. Here is a riveting story of one man seeking the truth about a cultural artifact that changed rock history, a story for rock fans and guitar aficionados, treasure hunters and antique dealers, as well as anyone who likes a detective story.

My band need a new, modest website, preferably one easily maintained. Have done some searching of BC for advice, but conclude the passage of time changes things. Anyone done it recently with useful info to impart? Thank you!

As I turn 65 today (gulp), I thought I would weigh in... People like me - ‘white, male and stale’ - have had their day in today’s society. I welcome diversity, but also accept that reality. BC is one place I still feel relevant. I know David, the OP, and he isn’t a negative person. He does have opinions, as do we all, and it would be a shame if he, I or anyone else could not express them here without reservation. ☮️ -
Has anyone played in a band with a sibling?
