I was a professional journalist. The only unpaid work I did was an interview with George Best. He was paid £500... Now I’m retired I am glad I bent my rule... Sorry, not really relevant to any of the above😂

Newly formed REM tribute band need bass player. Singer/rhythm is very convincing and drummer and lead guitar know their stuff. At present for the love of the music, but who knows where it might go. I was the original Mike Mills, but cannot continue. DM me and I can put you in touch.

To be fair (and you weren’t unfair!) there’s a story behind all that of film running out... They put these clips together decades later so used crowd shots as a place holder. I had an EB-3 L for the longest time. But when I interviewed AF he was singularly uninterested in gear matters, and was toting a Toby. PS: If anyone would like some Free Appreciation Society mags for the price of postage, message me! Great little fanzine, but I have read and enjoyed them CLAIMED BY RUSHBO

I had this problem until I discovered it was a phrase followed by the same phrase played backwards (tape reversed). I then gave up... -

Hardback, 800-plus pages. New. Offered at less than half price (£10, rrp £30) plus postage (£3.20). Rivals Of The Beatles is about the stories of some of the many excellent British and American groups who were part of the music scene in the 1960s at the time of The Beatles. Each chapter focuses specifically on one of these groups. What they have in common, for the purposes of the book, is some form of link to the Fab Four. Maybe they were inspired by The Beatles, or were helped by them. Perhaps they copied them. The ways in which these influences occurred varies considerably. There are detailed, in-depth, chapters on twenty groups of the era including The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, The Byrds, The Kinks and The Yardbirds. There are also a few unexpected inclusions – to keep things varied! This book is very detailed indeed! The chapters on The Rolling Stones and The Beach Boys, for example, are well over 80 pages in length. But although long, the various chapters are packed with interesting info. As a central part of the focus of the book is on the various records that each group produced during their career. So the more familiar with the records that the reader is, the more they will get out of the discussion of them. It will also give readers a chance to re-evaluate some of the music in their collections, and maybe shine new light on some overlooked or forgotten gems. Author was a teenager in the 1960s and has always been a committed fan of the music of that era. Rivals Of The Beatles is available in an initial, privately published, print run of 500 hardback copies. There are no firm plans at this stage for a further print run in either hard or softback. An electronic version is possible at a later date, depending on reaction to the book, and demand for it. GROUPS FEATURED 1. The Rolling Stones 2. The Beach Boys 3. The Byrds 4. The Kinks 5. Brian Poole and The Tremeloes 6. The Searchers 7. Billy J. Kramer with The Dakotas 8. Gerry and The Pacemakers 9. The Pete Best Four 10. The Dave Clark Five 11. The Yardbirds 12. The Grass Roots 13. The Grateful Dead 14. Moby Grape 15. The Association 16. The Left Banke 17. The Monkees 18. The Mothers Of Invention 19. Twice As Much 20. Cliff Richard and The Shadows
