  1. This is a bargain way into wireless folks - you won’t go back! GLWTS Paul...
  2. I think there’s also the question of what the goal is. In the Fleetwood Mac band the singers had been going out with backing tracks but wanted a band for bigger, better-paying gigs. Seemed to me being a pub band bashing away wouldn’t cut it. Hence my comments about volume, light and shade etc. I could see the hard work going to waste when they decided to revert to the tapes!
  3. Great points made so far, folks. Appreciated. What a great forum this is One thing I feel strongly is that a new arrival (not me necessarily) will often have a more objective viewpoint which might help a band refine/improve their act. Assuming they want to, of course. My regular (till Saturday) outfit actually lured me in by saying they wanted to graduate from playing covers to clubs to better-paying corporate gigs, but actually lacked the determination to fulfil that. Hence my frustration with them...
  4. I seem to have a history of being too opinionated and probably missing out as a result. But am I reasonable or a pain in the neck? Recently auditioned for a Commitments type group. Learned five songs, all uptempo stuff. The drummer was about 19 and, at my audition, tore into everything at a rate of knots. I commented on this, and also asked if we could do a ballad (My Girl) as a contrast. They played that too fast, too... I didn’t comment, but knew my goose was cooked. More recently auditioned for a 70s Fleetwood Mac tribute. The volume at the first rehearsal was way too loud, so I commented straight away and got black looks. They did turn down though. The second rehearsal I said nothing but could actually not hear myself at all! I sent an email to the leader putting forward my concerns, and that the drummer and guitarist, both heavy rockers, could do with throttling back and getting under the skin of the music rather than bashing it out with no regard for dynamics. The reply was similar to the one Lindsey Buckingham got a year ago... Go your own way! Finally, for now, on Saturday I quit my regular gigging club band after 18 months of biting my tongue and accepting plenty of lucrative gigs in exchange for not rocking the boat. Sum total of my contribution - two new songs in an otherwise unchanged repertoire. Maybe I should just go solo... 😉
  5. Rattled my Bong? U2?!😆
  6. I would have thought Davy too good for a tribute band. But good luck to him...
  7. Hard to get hold of! Gerry seemed a bit up himself IIRC but guess he felt his side of the story needed to be told. Has a definitive book on Rory ever been written?
  8. What’s Norman’s history with Fenders? Thought he was a Precision man.
  9. Then drive a bulldozer, do us all a favour!😂
  10. There’s nowt wrong with Poole, Mike... (that a bulldozer wouldn’t cure). Shoulda popped in for a cuppa 😆
  11. These are good!!
  12. Interviewed Del once, he has certainly lived the rocknroll life. Enjoy the gig!
  13. +1 for Hercules, worth the extra outlay.
  14. Identical expressions - impressive! But shouldn’t the cat be in the hat?😆
  15. Andy bought a bass from me and has been incredibly communicative, paid speedily and everything was wrapped up within 24 hours. If only life were always this way... Deal with complete confidence.
  16. Sale pending!
  17. Where to start? This bass already has its own plethora of appreciation threads; here is one. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/336744-bruce-thomas-profile/?tab=comments#comment-3687287 I have owned Fenders, Squier CV and Lakland Pres, and this is probably the most playable of all. The pickup is a beast, and the tonal variation astounding. Ebony fretboard, long scale. Why sell? The frets are not as visible under stage lighting as those of my 70s Fender, and I find it hard to navigate by dots alone. Didn’t realise I was so reliant on the visual, but my failing eyesight does me no favours and I lose confidence easily. This is far too good a bass to use for practice alone. As you can see, condition is fab and the gig bag impressive. Based Bournemouth but can send.
  18. Advance warning folks... I will 95 per cent be listing mine, with much regret, within the next week. If you want to discuss before I get to it (I am a fully paid-up seller, btw) please pm me.
  19. First four albums great. Then they went up their own donkey...
  20. Best wishes for a speedy recovery...
  21. No you didn’t!
  22. Wish I was closer! Have fun🙏
  23. Richard bought a recorder from me - a stress free transaction! Deal with confidence.
