1. What's not to be missed? Will be a week there from 11th - any insider insights gratefully received.
2. Other way for me, Michael... Though as a 71 owner -see avatar - I should know better than venture an opinion!
3. Thread derailed I know but RT's album v disappointing I felt. Wtf was that Guitar Heroes track all about?!
4. Hitting HK tomorrow but online gig guides are rubbish and club descriptions depressing. Any kind person have a recommendation as to where decent music can be had of an evening? Thank you!
5. Have just nosed round a couple in Tokyo and Kyoto on my first visit. Couple of impressions. The Japanese made Fenders seemed bargains at £300-350, inc Aerodynes. US Fenders, understandably, about four times as much. Large numbers of 'Lakland Japan Skylines'. And some good looking PB n JB copies called Photo Finish (or something like it) at around £75 apiece. Shame my case is full...
6. My intro to VM was the televised version of the show released circa 1974 as It's Too Late To Stop Now I've bought many albums and seen many shows but he never beat it... Also never seen the concert available on DVD (unless you know better).
7. Whistle test was never two hours, and in early days certainly used pre-recorded backing tapes (the Who, Lindisfarne come to mind).
8. The one factor we haven't mentioned is stage presence. I depped for a girl-fronted band this year. Fab voice but so shy she tried to sing half the songs to the drummer...
9. Homes albums were reissued a few years ago by Esoteric. I had the honour of doing sleeve notes after interviewing Laurie Wisefield. A v underrated band. There's a good live CD out there too.
10. Used Samson for a decade with few problems... Second hand price about £65.
11. Thanks fellas - I did put the question about the aborted BK UK tour, but he was clear that 4 1/2 years of Turn Blue was enough. Only the second interviewee I've had (the first being Andy Summers) who balked at mention of the group with which he found fame... Oh, and he's taken up (and enjoyed) playing a Mustang bass in the studio, so maybe there's hope
12. I have to interview him on Monday and wondered if there were any burning questions DA fans would ask in my place. He has launched a new side band the Arcs, hence the conversation.
13. If so, I'd quite like to pick your brains about his musical philosophy! M
14. Do You Like It Here Now, Are You Settling In Yet? That is all!
15.
i quite enjoyed the Sheridan Smith Cilla TV show last year.
Sure it will be repeated quick style...
16.
Is Deke supposed to be a bit of a fruitcake then ? Enlighten me
This might be the best way of finding out! https://www.youtube.com/user/DekeLeonardTwang?feature=watch He's a funny old stick. Known him for 30 years… Everything a rock star should do to get on, he managed not to do.
17. Should have posted this earlier as I know he has fans on here. Sunday 2 August show. He can be heard on inlayer for half an hour (link below is straight to it). The My 70s feature has always been my favourite but this was something else! When he tells his Hendrix story the punch line is 'I never saw Hendrix play...but he f@$€ing saw me.' Fortunately he censored himself, or he'd have been in hot water http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02ymyxm
18. Have been advised that five-stringers didn't start till later in the decade... So accurate info clearly needed! Apologies for Wal ignorance.
19. She was at the 2004 Strat birthday party. Mind you, so was Jamie Cullum...
