1. i love the look of them (and the sound based on primus gigs) and would love to try one but they very rarely come up in the uk and when they do they are a bit steep for me :^)
2.
Just wish they'd bother replying to me then
its possible they could be away, i had a couple of days wait after the 1st email but then i got an apologetic reply shortly after, couple of years ago now though, or they could have just missed your email, spam filters can be over eager sometimes too. if it was me i would try em again and if you hear nothing back pretty soon then look elsewhere.
3. roqsolid is fine for me, quick, cheap and a perfect fit.
4. Thanks folks, ill be checking your suggestions out :^)
5. Can anyone recommend a band photographer? or do any of you provide such services? im looking to get some promo shots done for my metal band 'Winterfire' individual and group shots ideally im after someone who is used to getting the most out of bands specifically. we are based in the north west cheers in advance :^)
6. keep the lightest maybe? easy mobility has always got to be a bonus
7. ha ha, i forgot about venom, ive never been into the shouty stuff personally but theres a time and a place.
8. for me aguilar hands down over the mark bass, but i would also consider the GK and dont overlook Carvins offerings they are fantastic value for money
9. looks awesome, possibly a bit full on for me but great none the less :^)
10. aguilar tone hammer will do it, also tc rh750 with a little tweaking will easily do that kind of sound. i love the sound of the aguilar but it isnt very versatile whereas the TC is probably too versatile for some it takes a while to get to grips with the in depth eq the tube tone control works great as long as you dont have too much of it, subtlety works great.
11. when i was looking for a custom builder i emailed a load of enquiries with generally what i was after and was surprised at how few replies i got, it seems that a lot of luithers either dont read their emails or just dont want any work, tbh im glad i started to search further afield or i never would have come across Xylem custom basses. i'll find out if it paid off in just a couple of weeks time, its lookin awesome though and anthony was full of ideas and options that i had never considered, cant wait :^)
12. i found them bright and zingy, just how i like em and i love the lower tension, thats the best thing about em. although iv not used em in a couple of years.
13. Roger Dean and Rodney Mathews were awesome, tbh i think they started my obsession with album artwork
14. on pricing I recently had some artwork done and im a picky sod. I had a digital painting done for my bands debut album, i paid 300eu for a piece that will cover 3 panels on a fold out digipack, im very happy with the piece and think that for the right designer/artist this was great value. on the other hand several people i know wouldn't dream of spending that much and were surprised when i told them how much i paid, however they all agreed it was money well spent when i showed them the piece. i think if someone likes the designs enough they will pay whatever you ask within reason so its important to have a substantial portfolio of similar work if you want to charge this kind of price so folk will have a proper idea of the quality of the finished result.
15. i think artwork/logos are of paramount importance, as they say 1st impressions can make a big difference, especially in certain genres. im into my rock and metal, sometimes i see an awesome album cover and just have to hear the band, it can be disapointing if the music doesnt live up to the artwork though. i miss the days of double gatefold vinyl, not because of the vinyl i prefere cds, but the artwork has more impact and seems more tactile
16. I just got some el tape for mine, not done it yet but the actuall tape is awesome. Just like the stuff used in tron legacy :^) ill post some pics when i have done it.
17. ha ha, this is classy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CUSTOM-BASS-RIG-BASS-COMBO-CAB-PINK-FURRY-BASS-BEAST-/291148003755?pt=UK_MusicalInstr_Amplifiers_RL&hash=item43c9c5f9ab
18. i have a couple of entwistle guitar pickups and they are my go-to choice for rhythm playing on rock or metal tracks. really good quality for the cash, i would like to try the bass ones out sometime.
19. i love my p38, i wish i had enough cash for a fly though
20. ha ha, i have actually used a car key in the past and a fork :^)
21. i used to have loads of ear blockage problems, eventually i started using a hair clip (those brown metal clips) to regularly scoop out any excess, against the doctors advice of course, i have not had any problems in nearly 15 years now, it works for me although i must advise against it on medical grounds.
22. balls, just spent up too, i would have snapped this up last week in a heartbeat
23. cool, great amps those, ill be lookin forward to hearin it
24. i would love o try one of those out, a real bargain too, im just wonderin if my wife would notice £400 goin missing, and me for a day too to collect......hmmmmmmm.
25. i have tried a russ andrews power cable in an a/b situation while working for a large music shop, i was very sceptical however there was a definite difference, subtle yes, better no, but different none the less, certainly not enough to warrant buying one or even considering it for that matter, especially considering the quality of the power outlets/supplys at a lot of venues where any upgrade would be pointless anyway. i can undersand a hi-fi pureist using one a home with the perfect set up and an acoustically treated room but not for a gigging player.
