i only use seel strings and dean markley blue steels are far superior in both tone and longevity, plus they are not coated and arent silly money, rotos just die too quick for me

the tc nova sysem is excellent, if i had the spare cash i would upgrade to one in a flash, having said that i got a zoom b9.1 when hey were goin cheap and i cant really fault it, i dont use drive or amp sims and found the delays, reverbs, modulations filters etc do sound great and that z pedal is great for wierd stuff plus its not noisy and the pedal synth feature is handy too. still want a tc though

Awesome suff,I think Moff was thinkin of comin anyway, it hows it goin with Slander? -
i used to work in a shop dealing with pa returns, unfortunately the srm450 v2's (and the mackie bass bins of the same era too) were probably the worst offenders in the whole time i was there, always the same fault too. mackie built their reputation on the earlier models which were of a higher build quality (with rcf drivers too)but when the factory moved QC went away and they seem to just play the numbers game.

these are epic, and a great price too http://basschat.co.uk/topic/225953-mesa-boogie-powerhouse-4x10-15-for-sale-l495-price-drop/ from your list i would be on the lookout for an SWR but the mesa is easily as good if not better.

its actually based on this which is an awesome bass, the whole idea was to improve and customise every aspect of it. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:141450]
I wasn't very taken by it on acoustic, but on electric it reminded me of a Hohner Clavinet. That could be fun for certain kinds of part. It's not going to revolutionize the instrument, but it could be a fun thing to pull out for an overdub.
That is pretty much what i had in mind personally. -

no,i dont think so, i can see it bieng a creative tool, just like an ebow or thumb picks, used springly of course. you still need accurate left hand skills and precise right hand co-ordination -
I'm quite interested to hear how the SPB-3 brings out the harmonic over tone being paired in with the SPB-4 and being closer to the bridge than normal.
yeah me too, expect a full range of sound clips and a video review when i get me mitts on it :^)
-
yeah, i did lots of experimenting of pickpup positions and found classic p position (neck position) and the position on my home made frenkenbass (bridge position) suited best for my playing, i dont like em too close to the fretboard or too near the bridge. it was a bit wierd when i relised they were so close together but im confident it will sound massive :^)
-
yeah, a bit of a punt on the steve harris one as i have never heard one in real life but i reckon it'll do the job. i have a thrown together frankenbass with a SPB-3 in that exact position and it sounds excellent, it really nails the tone im after but if im not happy its easy enough to swap em out, i did consider the SPB-1 but dont have as much experience with that pickup. ill have loads of tone options there though, especially with thepiezobridge too.

a couple of pics of the body, next its carving time, thats where the magic happens :^)

Carefully disassemble and take the affected panels to be re powder coated. Its not that expensive and the only way to get it perfect. Additionally you can get a groovy different colour and it'll look like a pro factory finish too. I have been considering this for my rh750 :^)

ss every time for me, they have that lovely zingy top end.

Need help with a wireless system please!
winterfire666 replied to mikegrovesmusic's topic in Accessories and Misc
you could always try one of these, i know a couple of bassists using them with nothing but good comments. silly cheap too. http://www.gak.co.uk...-wireless/88573 i have a samson airline (ap1b) at the moment, no noticible noise problems here though. it works fine, i would like to go digital though -
best one i ever used (by far) was the Rane DC24, one of the only pieces of gear i regret geting rid of.
