1.
Heres a soundclip of a Fender Blacktop Jazz with its twin p's in flat out mode! Sounds like it'll fit your style of music pretty well https://www.box.com/...p2y1612vfjh9dix
that sounds very meaty, i like it, cheers!!
2.
Here is a brand new SB2, with warranty for £303 delivered to your door. http://en.euroguitar...dre/149024.html
thats a lot of bass for the money, a great deal, well found.
3.
Dual P, because putting a lower output pickup in a lower output position never made any sense.
that makes perfect sense but then why are there loads of p/j basses about and p/p's semm to be fairly rare? ill be honest i want to go for a p/p setup but im just cautious because iv only played 1 ages ago and dont really remember what the sound was like properly
4.
I've just read the comment about batteries, which puzzles me. They use CR2032 batteries, which are pretty common here. And they sent me about 5 with the bass, which out to last a year or two.
that is cool if they sent you 5. How long do you get out if a single battery? I enquired a while ago and unfortunately they dont do 33" scale otherwise i would have ordered.I also thought it would be cool to have 2 colours. Amber with green or red for 12th and 24th fret.
5. the fretfx seems like a great product, i have done a bit of research on the matter as i was seriously considering getting some, however they have recently changed their manufacturing process so they can do more bulk orders so less options are now available if you want a standard colour (1of3) for a standard scale length, no problem, anything else and they cant/wont do it. and the batteries are specific too and quite hard to get in the right configuration over here. iv been working on a simple home brew version which can be configured easily to any scale length any choice of colours and has a rechargable battery pack as standard. although im still looking for the right glue which is safe to use on natural/oil finish necks.
6. forum rules state you must have a price in your listing.
7. agreed, its for people who arent in touch with reality, very perculiar folk that think inaminate objects have a personality.
8. Ive been dwelling over pickup options for a while for my upcoming Xylem custom 4 string fretted bass, but its getting close to making the final decisions on pickups before building starts and im still undecided so any opinions or advice would be appreciated. i have already decided its got to have a P in the neck position and a piezo bridge, but for the bridge im undecided a p or a J? (iv specced up a j seymour duncan hot stack for the bridge but i cant help but feel i'd be missing out if i didnt have 2 p's) i love the sound of seymour duncan 1/4lb pickups but im still open to suggestions on makes/models which will compliment each other. the bass is going to have a vol, passive tone, and blend for the magnetic pickups, a seperate vol for the piezo and a 3 way switch (up mag only, Middle both, Down piezo only) and a stereo jack for splitting the 2 signals which will be switched so a mono cable will carry both signals to a single amp. Any ideas or suggestions/expierences would be greatly appreciated, i wanna get this right as its a lot of cash and a long wait. i mainly play metal, prog and heavy rock if that helps http://www.xylembassguitar.com/ Many thanks!
9. g&l sb2 is a great bass(one of the best off the shelf p/j in my opinion) but not within the criteria given, Must be New, £350 max yamahas are great for the money though and you will have a choice of models for that budget.
10. i played a peavey recently in pmt(salford) it had 1/4lb seymour duncans p/j set, a great neck slim with low action too. couldnt fault it and it was £349 brand new dont know the model name but it was one of the nicest playin basses in the shop at any price.
11. i think drums are stupidly hard to play but i do know of at least 2 people who picked it up so quickly its truly scary some people have a natural ability with drums that can be clear on first try so they might think its easy, with bass you have to condition your hands and fingers regardless of any natural ability you may have to be able to stretch and hith the notes accuratley.
12.
I'd love to give one of these a try at some point. I think they have a library you can download from now so may be worth checking on there?
the online library is great for guitar profiles, not so much choice for bass though, and whats there isnt that great, the profiling process itself takes a bit of getting used to if you want great results although its captured my tc rh750 and barefaced s12t very nicely indeed. witha decent community of bass players onboard it could be the ultimate tone tool.
13.
I would argue that some like the Kemper amps would probably have to "technically" the best amps out there. Purely because they can sound like any amp you want them too
iv got one of these, Amazing piece of kit, for bass as well as guitars. i just wish i still had access to a mesa bass 400+ so i could make some awesome valvey profiles there isnt anyone close by who fancies bringing a decent valve amp round for a play is there?
14. theres lost of stuff i havent tried but Mesa Bass 400+ is hard to beat for me, unfortunately mine suffered from weight and reliability issues, best amp i ever got rid of.
15. Barefaced Super 12t, i wouldnt swap it for anything. iv been a sound engineer for nearly 20 years and its the best thing iv ever heard from an engineers point of view, can cut through any mix without becoming too much, used correctly of course.
16. I cant seem to upload pics. If anyone is interested pass on your email address and ill send you some pictures Cheers!
17. Well, i had this for a while now and just cant find the time to learn and space is an issue so if anyone is interested it is posted in the other musical items for sale section http://basschat.co.uk/topic/197432-yangqin-for-sale-chinese-hammered-dulcimer-lancashire/ thanks for everyones input though.
18. i bought this with the intention to learn but dont have the time or space anymore. It needs to be tuned. I never got round to it as i was overwhelmed by the number of strings and lack of knowledge. Price £150. trades considered too. Collection only very heavy. Based in lancashire. Comes with case ( tatty and lock is broken but straps shut and still protects the instrument) 4x hammers, tuning wrench and stand. Great sounding instrument and very difficult to find. Grab it in time for chinese new year! i will post some pics later today.
19. +1 for the pro bass 500, great amp.
20. my 1st bass amp was a peavey mark vi it was super clean, punchy and loud, excellent bit of kit, but heavy
21. iv yet to try a warwick amp that isnt truly disapointing, shame really. unfortunatly this looks to be following the same trend.
22. Sat in a royal mail van on top of a hill out in the sticks, waiting to collect a timed postbox collection listening to a blizzard.
23.
Markbass cabs are marmite - some people love them (Lozz does a lot) some people really don't.
agreed, its not possible to get my sound with a markbass cab, cant stand them. although i know several people who love them most cabs colour the sound in some way so you need to have a good idea of what you are after. my advice is try one out before you part with your cash, whatever you go for.
