1. If y want a good eq i think there is an ea i500 for sale in the classifieds. Great amps and its only about£250
2. Just a bit of drive and a chorus does it for me. And maybe a subtle phaser on gentler sections
3. yup, TC RH750, Barefaced Super 12t, Palm Bay Atlantic 4 string. i have loads of other basses which i record with but this is my only rehearsal/gigging bass.
4.
A venue I used to play on the Holloway Road (now a Costa Coffee) had a Mesa Boogie Bass cab. IIRC, it had a 15", a 10", a 6" and a horn. The cab could be used with two heads - one to the 15", the other to the rest - or as one complete cab, which is how I used it. The sound with my Ashdown ABM and a P bass was breathtaking. Sadly Mesa Boogie don't make them anymore.
ahhhh the old mesa 1516, awesome cab i recently sold one, great sound but as heavy as a small planetoid.
5.
Oh man, you're getting one! I think we need a full review when you get a chance mate Is it being built as we speak? I really want one but it's a little while yet, I'll want a higher spec one so that's a lot of cash. have you seen the ebony top fretless 5 in the thread? Just completely lickable
i put in an order late feb/early march i think. hes due to start the build in nov so still a wait but getting closer. Iv not limited myself for the spec so theres gonna be piezos, inlays and a lovely black walnut top (unique unusual figuring)etc . There are still some bits to finalize before the build starts though im still considering different neck sizing options but it will be a 33" scale 24 frets. Ill post a full review with pics and video when it arrives. its gonna be EPIC!
6. i dont consider myself a fancy player, but i like my basses to look the business as well as sound awesome, although playability does come 1st
There is a difference for me between Fancy and Stylish. I play simple stuff on a stylish chrome Warwick I don't like wood finishes at all, but the huge exception to this is the Xylem basses in the Basschat affiliates thread, they are utterly delicious!
+1 on xylem, im very picky about my finishes but they are awesome, hopefully mine wont be too long now!!
7. 1. Xylem custom ( on order!) 2. Bogart one of the silly colour ones. 3. Some kind of fodera to see what all the fuss is about ( not a singlecut they are crazy) 4. Bc rich supreme 8 string 5. Esh stinger 2
8. i used to have a goliath III it was great and should be well within your budget, mine sold for £300 in great condition awesome cab but pretty heavy
9. its funny really, i cant do it generally even the simplest stuff is too much for me with a couple of exceptions, i find john the fisherman by primus easy and tommy the cat too for that matter, who'd have thought? dont know why though. and my singin voice is unpleasant too. oh well best keep quiet on stage.
10. The current 18'' is a custom eminence which should be available through fender. ( any fender seller should be able to order one) If yours has the original bag end driver i would try to get it reconed as they are far superior to the eminence replacements. But i expect that would mean contacting bag end directly.
11. if you can find one, chevin research A series amps sound are awesome and within budget used, powerfull, efficient and light too.
12. Iv always fancied tryin a bogart( i love the sound and playability of zons but not so keen on the asthetics)But you dont see many about, awesome stuff though. Ill be keepin my eyes open for a used one
13. Great kit, great price id be tempted if you werent so far away. Have a bump. Good luck with the sale
14.
Sorry to go off topic a tad, but does Reaper have midi sequencing? So does it have the ability to program in notes and parts digitally? As my past experience with Cubase, and the fact I know it does have midi sequencing is leading me towards splashing out for Cubase, as I know how to use and set it up which would make it a bit easier! Thanks for the replies!
Yep it has full midi sequencing facilities
15. Reaper.
16. Iv tried this with my super12t and it sounded fantastic. But you definately need a decent eq(15band graphic minimum)
17. i wish i had the cash, selling mine was the biggest mistake i ever made. you will not find a better rack delay in my opinion. great unit have a bump!
18. Cool might have to make it to that one. Great idea
19. im liking sadowsky blue label stainless steels at the moment, but if i cant get hold of any, Dean Markley blue steels will do.
20. I recently got a parker p38 here on basschat for £300 in near mint condition with a case too. The cleans are fantastic and after upgrading the humbucker to a suhr it is now extremely versatile. it plays like a dream with super low action and the piezo bridge has made it my main recording tool.
21. I cant find anythin on the web have you got any pics? I know a very knowledgable amp tech who might be able to provide more info for you.
22. A valve amp for £90! Snap it up if you dont like it ill buy it off you.
23. i remember when metallica were great. that seems like a long time ago.......
24. Disaster! If this had come up last month i would have had it streight off you iv been after one for a while, you dont need any decent compact pa speakers do you? Good luck with the sale anyway, ill be countin the pennies tonight just in case
