winterfire666 replied to winterfire666's topic in Other Instruments
Is that similar to a Gu Zheng? If so I know someone else who is struggling with one and I could put you in touch for mutual support. Steve
no its like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6h0UzPNjjk quite a different beast really although i bet that sounds cool they would probably compliment each other well -
shure sm7b = awesome bass sound it captures the barefaced s12t perfectly and can easily handle the spl's makes a 57 or 58 seem feeble and isnt to toppy like the ev's and some sennheisers
-
you dont need one if you are using your gt10b it has dedicated xlr balanced di outputs in stereo, which i believe can be set pre or post effects/amp sims etc.

i have just purchased one ebay and im looking for some tips/techniques or general resources as its completly new to me and im struggling finding much info (in english) about them on the internet. many thanks
That is of course, if you want your profiled amp to sound like a cross between a whale mating and staple gun factory.
sounds like fun, although seriously if anyone has a nice rig that they might wanna try profiling and not too far away, get in touch i would love to try it on an all valve rig.

Kemper profiling amp, Has anyone come across this yet?
Looking forward to that.
a little review here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/176001-kemper-profiling-amp-review/ -
cheers, at the moment i run into my studio monitor setup and a small pa system so i can a/b the sounds for mixing purposes the sound through the pa cabs(logic system)is stunning but i have not tried running into a guitar or bass cab yet for a live stage style setup. when i do ill post my findings here.

just posted a quick review, (first impressions really) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/176001-kemper-profiling-amp/page__pid__1647703#entry1647703

Ok, where to start? i have only had the unit a week so this is a 1st impression really. when i was considering buying a kemper i had some questions that still seem elusive to find the answers to. Can it be used for bass? YES, i found that existing bass profiles were nice enough but just sounded like standard di sounds. so i set up my tc-rh750 into a barefaced super 12t and using a shure sm7b attempted to profile. my rig when running past about 3 on the master volume becomes a massive aggressive wall of sound so i wanted to see if i could capture this on recordings. it worked perfectly! the resulting profile is epic with tight lows and mids that cut through the mix beautifully. im still tweaking my sounds at the moment but i will post sound samples and the profiles when i get chance. how good are the profiles? Mixed, the problem with this technology is that people have different tastes, im quite picky about guitar tones and very few of the user created profiles float my boat, there are some amazing clean and crunchy tones available but the best seem to come from kemper. there are a lot high gain profiles available but only a few seem useable after tweaking. i have done some of my own high gain profiles which im extremly happy with so im sure its just a matter of having a great source to profile and it will only be a matter of time before anything you could want will be aviailable as a free profile download. at the moment there arent that many bass profiles available (mainly mark bass and ampeg) so if you want to use this for bass be prepared to make your own. how easy is it to use? at first look it seems awefully complex for a mere bass player but after an hour of playing becomes easy to navigate, probably due to german logic. there are still some things that i want to do but cant really see how (a favorites list for my evergrowing profiles library) but there is good user support on the kemper forums and the unit is bieng regularly updated with new firmware. for those who like numbers Build quiality - 9 sound quality - 9.5 ease of use - 8 overall performance - 9.5 ive only had this for a week or so but i dont think i could live without it now. ive just got one of these, i got it mainly for recording guitar but i have already used it sucsessfully for bass, there are a couple of ampeg and markbass profiles available on the kemper website. the thing with the kemper is, poeople make a profile which is a single snapshot of a particular amp setting and although you can tweak the sounds ideally it wants to be colse to the sound that you are after in the first place and everyone has their own idea of a great sound. so it can be hit amd miss. however if you have the chance to take your own rig and make your own profile it does recreate whatever you put in extremley well. im still getting used to the kemper but its potential is astounding and you can tweak a sound beyond the capabilities of the the amp which you are profiling. im going to make some profiles of my rig today (tc/barefaced) and if i get chance ill post some audio clips.

that lime green is not for me, but i can heartily recommend these if anyone else is interested in yours.

its epic! to be honest i would be happy if i paid double (although i may not have bought it in the first place without trying it)
I had considered buying that one on ebay, but the seller refused to ship! Would love to have a go on one!
the seller shipped it in a hardcase for only £20! if you are ever in my area you would be welcome to have a go and a brew.

got this off ebay, i hadnt heard of them before but for £300 it was worth a go. it plays like a dream, fast slim neck, extremley low action, mint condition not a single mark on it. custom dimarzios and a 2 band eq, beautiful quilted maple top. its extremly well balanced and lightweight too and tonally it is a monster, i would even go so far as to say its one of the nicest basses i have ever played. has anyone else had any experience with palm bay basses? it would be interesting to know. i love em, probably my favorite readily available strings in the uk at the mo. very bright but with solid lows too and they last extremly well for standard (uncoated) strings.
