  1. yamaha rev500 - super clean, far superior for bass than the cheaper spx units and they go cheap on ebay too. awesome unit!
  2. I have a RH750 and i couldnt be happier, there are a massive range of sounds available and it sounds extremly meaty even at low levels, a massive upgrade over my previous SWR rig! ive tried many micro heads now and im glad i went with the TC, to me it is the most versatile and arguably the loudest class D amp out there. also i have directly compared this to the SVT7 pro and the ampeg just cant keep up volume wise, it sounded good but didnt have the headroom for me.
  3. Chevin research - Top quality, lightweight, pro gear! you can pickup a A1000 or A500 used for reasonable money.
  4. for that style the mesa is awesome! i used to have one but it was too heavy:(
  5. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HARTS-Hand-Crafted-FIREDRAKE-6-String-Active-Bass-/250921341904?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item3a6c13d3d0 i cant decide if this is genius or just too much?
  6. primus - suck on this! iron miaden - Live after death
  7. it was a frosty morning in january 1995, i remember it well, 2 days after my birthday. i was playing on my new 5 string when the unthinkable happened. The core of B string snapped at the bridge end and with much horror i watched as the windings uncoiled before my eyes. unfortunate but not the end of the world i thought, untill i realised thet it was sunday morning and i had no spares!!!! AAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at that moment i vowed never to break a string again (or be without spares at a weekend) it took many years to overcome my torment, but we as bass players must be strong willed and vigilant in the face of adversity.
  8. i got the rh750 and i use the footswitch all the time, even when im recording or just having a practice, its very handy! its very well built and nice and compact too!
  9. i got one of those as a backup a while ago, it works great! but if you get one get the latest verion of the asIo4all audio drivers this really helped to reduce latency. ( WWW.ASIO4ALL.COM )
  10. maybe, Mr Bungle - the girls of porn ha ha i almost forgot about mr bungle
  11. just got a shine a10b practice amp for a friend, for nowt! and a case too! many thanks! MB1 is indeed a scholar and a gentleman!
  12. Rush - xanadu
  13. i dunno it sounds a bit steep for me i was after somthing cheaper really. pm'd
  14. i have a mate in manchester desperate for a cheap practice amp, what do you want for it?
  15. barefaced have been around for a while now, if you are interested send alex at barefaced an email (via the website) and he can recommend a cab based on your playing style and needs, i recently did the same and im very happy with my new super 12t, he got what i was after perfectly. and if you dont like it you can return it for a full refund (less postage costs). great service and the best cab i have ever owned, a big upgrade from the swr rig i had previously.
  16. for that kind of budget i would go for a barefaced midget or compact and an ampeg pf-500 amp, very light, very loud, very compact and still getting that ampeg sound, plus you keep the option of plugging into other cabs if they are available. this would be smaller than most of these combos and much lighter.
  17. if you like metal and want to see some excellent bass playin you can catch symphony x tonight at acedemy 3 in manchester Michael Lepond is in my opinon a very underrated player. they dont come round very often so if you like technical/prog/power/melodic/groove driven metal give it a try, you wont be disapointed!
  18. a note on the home 'made feel' of barefaced i have a barefaced super 12t only a few weeks old and the finish is excellent, i was a bit concerned about the finish before i bought the cab but on close inspection it is of a very high quality indeed, i cant say that about a lot of previous gear that i have owned (including peavey swr laney warwick ampeg) plus if you dont like it you can always return it.
  19. i was completly happy with the sound of my previous rig just not the weight (swr Workingpro 700, Goliath 3 and big ben) after dozens of changes i think i may be there now (rh750/barefaced s12t), although im gonna give it another 6 months or so before i commit to that statement.
  20. Sadowsky blue label strings seem to last ages for me, not sure if they do heavy string gauges though.
  21. looks good, i miss my converted transit minibus
