1. it depends what kind of sound you like. you could always build it without one add one later if you think you need a bit of sparkle (make sure you leave enough space) if you add one though make sure you have a decent quality crossover and level control is a must.
2. has anyone tried hotcovers? if so how do they compare to roqsolid? my only concern (with roqsolid)is they look a bit thin/lightweight are there any other more heavy duty options?
3. Symphony X - Iconoclast Iron maiden - Seventh son of a seventh son Metallic goodness

6.
This ^ - I've tried all sorts of heads before, during and after I moved from my LMIII to my RH450, and it's all about your ears. Even better would be hanging on till you've got your Super12 and taking it with you to somewhere like Bass Direct (other bass shops are available ) or somewhere they have a good selection of heads where you can A-B (and C and D) till you're blue in the face. Actually, if you wanted to try my RH450, you're welcome to pop over to mine.
i might take you up on that offer when i recieve the cab, i like the fact that it has a compressor and tuner in the head, no extra gear needed. cheers
7. if you can pickup a cheap head and cab it gives you more options for upgrading at a later date, and if you are supporting another band you can always just take your head, less lugging of equipment has always gotta be a good thing, i reckon about 75% of the gigs i do have the option of using another cab already at the gig.
8. Zoom b9.1ut = Awesome!!! i had one, the i sold it with much regret... the bass pedal synth thing is awesome for those geddy lee moments

12.
Really I think you dont need to worry too much about amp power with a super 12, its a very effecient cab. I have a benz genz shuttle 6 and an RH450 and both of these are massively loud with my compact+midget combo and a super 12 would be even louder (about 2.5 db louder according to the specs - that almost twice the percieved volume !!).
bearing that in mind, i have too much choice!! im gonna have to try some out. many thanks
13. ill have to have a look at the ampegs i had no idea they existed, the svt pro 6 was awesome but quite heavy so the 7 sounds killer!
14.
I use a TC Electronic Classic 450 (with a BF Compact) and am liking it very much - I preferred the slight warmth of this over the Genz Benz I tried. The on-board compressor and tubetone are extremely useable.
i like the idea of having an onboard compressor, there dont seem to be many heads with this option. just the tc heads really, i think?
15. i might hang on as suggested by chris_b to get used to the cab first, but im very interested in the TC, genz benz, and it would be nice to see the new GK mb800. im not sure about mark bass, i have tried a couple of combos in shops and they just dont seem to do it for me, i cant seem to get anywhere near a sound i might normally use, but that might have somthing to do with the combo speakers and i have not tried a head yet. its a bit fustrating as no one seems to stock any of these heads in my area (northwest)
16. Greetings to all!, im looking into a bass head upgrade and ive not had much experience with lightweight bass heads so im after some recommendations im currently using a SWR workingpro 700 head with a Rane DC24 compressor and Korg DTR 2000 tuner in a weighty 4u rack the sound is great but if i could achieve similar sounds with less weight that would be ideal i like to play fast finger stlye kinda stuff (steve harris style) for my metal band and i have just ordered a Barefaced super 12 on Alex's advice so i would like lots of power to get the most from it. is anyone using the Genz Shuttle max 9.2, it looks very nice. so any opinions/advice would be a great help many thanks!

21. DR's for me! i thought Elixirs were quite good intill i tried the dr's Even better are dean markley alchemy strings or sadowsky bluelabel, both not coated but very long lasting, amazing feel, very bright and deep and great tone consistency over the set, although i think they are quite hard to get hold of now in the UK
