That makes sense, lowering the pickup will decrease the magnetic pull effect on the string thus letting it vibrate more freely.
-
I had the same problem and changed the pickup for a Status MM Pickup, they are made with bar magnets instead of pole pieces and have way less magnetic pull which means that the strings can vibrate more freely. Now my G string is present. The John East preamps are a great option.

Here is a review of the Harly Benton amp, I know it's in german but at least it contains some sound samples. I used google translate and could read the review almost perfectly... Well a big almost.

Here is "DavidsinRocks" playing a Tuscany Jazz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sur-H7seMg&feature=related They seem to be a cheap line from Frudua which is a good thing in my book. -
Peavey Tour into Barefaced Big One - I was more than happy. Into Barefaced Dubster is just immense, I can make concrete floor at work vibrate Sound good imo as well.
That's another great combination, I saw a guy playing a Tour 700 into a barefaced, don't know what it was but that sounded immense.

Or you can do what I did and get a BFM cab which is WAY lighter than any other cab. I play a Tour 450 and couldn't be any happier with the setup.
Yeah we played the Kings Head in Buggers Hill a few times, the landlord was a complete a**hole. The first time we played there he said we had to finish by midnight because of noise restrictions, so we ended the set at quarter to, and did one encore taking us to 11.50. When we went to get paid he said he was docking us £10 because we finished 10 minutes early! So we added £20 to our fee the next time we played there They had us booked in another 4 or 5 times this year too, which of course have now been cancelled. but that place has had problems for years apparently, lots of violence etc. I did like it for the size of stage area (not raised but large enough) and the fact it was 10 mins drive from my house, but it was a bit of a hole really. What band are you in then Mykesbass? we are probably playing a lot of the same places!
I think you're refering to Bob which was a tricky B@sst#!@!! he used to aggree a fee and then pay you whatever he thought was appropiate. That was just a recent phenomenom only present when the pub started going downhill. I've been drinking there for the last 9 years and I never saw a fight until recently. The last good landlord was Phil, not the smoothest of guys but he loved live music and he is a bassplayer too. BTW guys the Brewers Arms and the Cricketers are trying to take the KH place now. You can go around and drop a card if you're looking for bookings.

I own a BB415 which I fitted with a EMG BTC 2 band eq and that thing is "Evil", it is capable of decapitating small animals or even newly born babies. My only problem is the body, too big for my taste. Still a ton of bass for the money. If anyone has a BBN or BBG 5 and wants to swap I'll be more than happy, that's the bass I've been lusting for ages.

That was my local and the first place I gigged.. Really sad day as the Kings Head was a kind of institution. All of us new that things were not going to last as soon as Phil left the pub. Real shame.
LJ is great but not one to follow as his style is very much his own..plus he beats his hands up so much that you'll be storing up so much trouble for them later, IMV But sure, his work with Quncy Jones' production house was defintive of the time, pretty much.
Not to mention you'll need a new bass every 3 months.. That guy beat the hell out of that MusicMan.
Paul Rogers version of 'Good Morning Little School Girl' (tribute to Muddy cd) is quite disturbing and sounds (to me anyway) very sleazy. I skip over that track as I find it uncomfortable. However, Muddy Waters' redition, on the Anthology cd, causes no such concern. It was 'Claire' saying to her Uncle Ray that she wanted to marry him, not the other way round on Gilbert O'Sullivan's recording. Nothing untoward there.
Now that you mention Paul Rodgers what about "I'll be creeping" that's a very disturbing one.
I'm currently using a Peavey Tour 700 and Warwick 1x15 and 2x10 cabs and am quite happy with that for the time being. But if Roland were to re-release their DB-210 combo and powered extension cab then I'd be very tempted...
I've been using the Tour 450 into a BFM Omni 10 (2x10) and it super fantastic, lightweight and powerful. I have an extra Warwick 2x10 that's been collecting dust since my Omni arrived. I haven't need anything else even for big venues. Those Peavey Tours are great!
Beck is my fave 'rock' guitarist ever - tone to die for and a massively original style, exquisite phrasing - great taste in bass players too: Tal, Doug Wimbish, Pino, Mike Mondesir, Randy Hope Taylor to name but a few - Vinnie Collaiuta ain't too shabby either
I was about to post something in the same line but you - as usual - beat me to it. I can only point out the Vinnie is a great drummer with a great taste on women too, he's supposely Tal's boyfriend. Lucky B@st@rd!!
