I have only one name for you BFM cabs!! I think Mr. Fitzmaurice is familiar with them. I got my hands on an Omni 10 (2x10) and I can't recommend them more: - Lightweight to the point of uncredibility. - They sound pretty much like your amp wants them to sound - I can get more volume with this 2x10 than the same TVX your using (and I was using for that matter) Right now I'm in bass heaven and can't believe it (This is the equivalence to dying and receiving 72 virgins that look like Jessica Alba, Christina Hendricks and Megan Fox) Yes they are that awesome!! Here are two youtube reviews of the PF-500 and PF-350. They sound great and the price makes them even more attractive. Ampeg Portaflex PF-350 bass head £269 http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~A...ad~ID~14719.asp Ampeg Portaflex PF-500 bass head £346 http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~A...ad~ID~14720.asp

Here is my Korg Pandora, it's a terrific piece of kit, this is a reluctant sale but I have to fund a new project. It's yours for £65 posted. I accept paypal. From the Korg site: The PX4D packs both guitar and bass functionality into a single unit (a first in the history of the Pandora series). Numerous high-quality effects using “REMS” modeling technology are built in. Contains a total of 158 effect types ranging from realistic amp sounds – including high-quality cabinets – to sophisticated effects. Provides 200 programs (100 preset / 100 user). Use up to seven effects simultaneously. Knob-based interface for quick and intuitive editing. The Phrase Trainer function offers a great way to learn by ear or to practice soloing. One hundred rhythm and bass patterns cover a variety of styles with realistic PCM sound. AUX IN jack lets you play along with external CD, MD, or MP3 audio sources. Key Transpose lets you shift the key of an audio source that's being input. The PX4D provides a Bass Canceller function that removes the sound of the bass from an external audio source. The built-in Auto Chromatic Tuner also provides a Mute function for silent tuning. Semi-transparent LCD illuminates the characters in inverse video when backlit. Two-way power supply lets you use either batteries or AC adaptor (sold separately).

Mcgiver69 replied to Beer of the Bass's topic in Accessories and Misc

You should look at Acoustica Mixcraft it is cheap and even easier to use than Reaper, believe me I never thought I would find something easier to use. It is cheap and easy on the CPU. http://www.acoustica.com/mixcraft/ The software goes for £46 and has loads of drums patterns, loops, and vst's. That's what I'm using now and it's great.

This is a very good one, it only contains tabs (unfortunately) but the information is great. http://wheatsbassbook.com/ It is a complete bass method covering theory and practice.

Well our mate Ed Friedland already reviewed one and it sounds absolutely great!! Enjoy!!!

Mike Mills is in my opinion one of the most melodic bass players along with Macca and Colin Moulding. His basslines fit the songs like a glove and tent to embelish them beautifully. He is one of my favourite bass players.

Paul Simon Turns His Back On Bass....
chin up boys... its not like any of us were in line for the gig. invent your own lines and send it in to the man... you never know
That is the best idea I've heard in the whole week. I think I'll arrange some bass and send him a copy by email that will put a smile on his face. -
I think these are good ones: For those who can speak spanish this one is great too.

When I hear the sentence "Monster bassline" I only have one thing in mind. Willy Weeks in Donny Hathaway's "Little Ghetto Boy". That's what I call bass playing.
Duffy - sounds like she's on helium.
You forgot to mention that she sounds like singing through a "Tremolo" effect on her voice. I can't stand her voice one bloody second.
-
Well here is my list: For Windows: - Express Scribe (free software that helps you to slow down, learn and play along to any song) - Reaper (For all the reasons said before) - Mixcraft 5 (a ton of features for $75, even more features than Reaper) and dead easy to learn. - Audacity (enough said) - Hydrogen (Drum machine for free with tons of features) For Linux: - Hydrogen - Audacity - Ardour For Linux I like the Ubuntu Studio package or the AV-Linux which is the one I have installed at the moment.
She's great! May I ask why you mention Gaga? Have you put them both in the same basket perhaps? They are like chalk and cheese, incomparable. You may as well say you prefer free range eggs to oak floorboards. Gaga works extremely hard too you know, there is a human being under there, working just as hard as Ellie, and oak floorboards. Just thought I would point that out
Sorry but if you go back and read my statement I simply expressed my preference I didn't belate Gaga, even thought I believe that she is 40% talent and 60% PR. If that is the way she made it more power to her, but I find that Ellie doesn't rely on gimmicks or pandering to achieve what she has achieved, that's why made the "honest pop" reference. I don't know why all of you got so worked out about that!
I don't know her personally but to be honest I prefer her music to Lady Gaga's. She looks like a young lass working her butt off to make it. I like "Guns & Horses" it sounds like good honest pop.
80's pop you said? I have two words for you "Cutting Crew" they new their way around pop.
