  2. Am going on the Sunday if anyone fancies meeting up.
  3. I didn't look. I remember it being £1199 on release.
  4. It's quite simple really. The "Doom" knob only gave an overdrive towards a slight fuzz tone to my ears. You could get a much better sound with just an ABM and a pedal. Say something like a Wounded Paw Battering Ram EQ or a Cog Effects. So let's look at this objectively regardless of sound. Unless you're a Geezer Butler fan (I am as it happens), you'll probably not buy this due to several reasons. Weight being one. Cost being another when you could get say a Darkglass A/O head for about the same price at £1100. That's just one head with an overdrive built in!! That's before we list others and there are quite a few. Hence my comment of it not being worth the money. Dismiss my views all you like, that's your right and I'm not bothered. I should say that I was very interested in the Geezer head until I tried one and didn't really like it (especially for £1200). Just my opinion and all that. I have no particular axe to grind here on Ashdown at all. Some of your stuff is great, some not so much. Like quite a lot of bass amp manufacturers.
  5. Maybe Mark King has confused endorsements with Pokemon. In that he's trying to get them all. Mesa, Ashdown, Trace Elliot, TC Electronic, Markbass. Not many more to get now is there? I'm waiting for the 10th model Kingbass from Status with baited breath as I'm sure that a whole bunch of middle aged Level 42 fans will lap it up before playing slap bass less than an inch under their chin then flogging it for a marginally different one 6 months later. I must admit I find that more funny than his constant endorsement round robin every 6-18 months. Every time he's on tour and plays something new the phones must ring off the hook at Status. This time it was the t-bass and everyone went out and got one of them. Is there anyone else who inspires this level of rig copying? Especially on the instrument level. Just bonkers.
  6. Pity it sounds like a second rate fuzz pedal that costs £60. It's not great for the money.
  7. John Entwistle. It's simple really. He developed the strings in cooperation with Rotosound in the first instance. Secondly, anyone who suggests Billy Sheehan, Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, Steve Harris should probably realise that they were all influenced by John Entwistle to a greater or lesser extent. Taking away his influence alters rock bass playing in an incredibly negative way. The world of music would have a lot less excitement and lightning in it and more dreary, boring playing where no chances are taken. Nobody has played like him since and that is the mark of a true innovator.
  8. That orange bass is amazing! Nice work!
  9. Some of us got in before the hammer came down and don't have to paint ourselves blue and rock in the foetal position worrying how much Alembics might have went up in price by next year.
  10. The correct answer to the question is no-one cares what colour it is. All that people care about is how does it sound played in drop E through loads of Darkglass pedals by Nolly Getgood. Does it djent? Does it sound "sick?" We'll never know the answer to these questions if we stop to think what colour it actually is depending on what angle the light strikes it at.
  11. Honestly, don't waste your money. The Warwick buzzard is garbage. Warwick's pricing is tonto as well.
  12. This fact isn't taking into account the one thing all the Warwick buzzards had in common. They're crap. If you've played both, the status version is superior in every way.
  13. Nobody would care about them if they were on a Dingwall. Mainly because the only questions that would be getting asked is "I need everything made by Darkglass now!! How much will that be? How do I sound like Nolly Getgood? Does lime green Djent? Will it downtune to drop F?" The fact that the pickups might look like my 4 year old son's attempt to draw a triangle would be of little importance.
  14. That's not a buzzard. It's a B2. Here's my buzzard. The last one ever made thanks to a certain div in Germany who shall remain nameless.
  15. Thats what he tells you now Mick. I can just picture the scene now. Your mates wife saying that he can only get the cheap one. He convinces himself it's better to mentally soften the blow. Then a few days later it hits him. He cracks and has to go upstairs to his bedroom and cry whilst hugging a pillow and sobbing the word "why" over and over almost indecipherably through his blubbing.
  16. I tried the axe fx a few years ago and actually didn't like the amps or distortion very much for bass. However, the rest of it was great. I hasten to say that was the ultra and things have moved on somewhat since then I bet. I hope their stuff does well, it just seems like that's a bit steep price wise for what it is in this one case. As for line 6, I did give serious thought to getting a full helix, but then realised unless I put it in the studio, I'd never need that much. Pretty much the same for all 3 full fat units. I'd probably get the stomp for live work. I enjoyed playing the kemper and it's great. I'm not sure who has the biggest share, but those 3 have something for everyone.
  17. My thoughts entirely. Fractal can go and do one.
  18. Right, photos time. My Stanley Clarke.
  19. You're welcome to pop over whenever you want squire.
  20. Clearly, you don't remember playing my Stanley Clarke?
  21. Not to mention SGD Lutherie. If you fancy a bit of pickup fraud that is.
  22. Yeah, that's true Si and I have and do do that, but for whatever reason the whole fusion genre just turns me off.
  23. Yes, but the Mesa Boogie stuff is expensive due to West side Distribution being price gouging creeps. Darkglass stuff is made in Finland which is still in the EU so why would we be getting battered for that?
  24. I hasten to say, I don't subscribe. I'm puzzled by the lack of rock/metal stuff. All the content I've seen is jazz or fusion based and is just too polite for me and much too clean. However, my indifference to the genre probably has a lot to do with this viewpoint.
