  1. I've played a Jeff Ament 12. The neck was pretty much the same as the B12L Chaparral. It weighed a ton though and the body is huge. I was glad I didn't buy it. I remember it was £1600 and that was about 7 years ago. There is a guy in Spain who did a copy (Nosiglia guitars), might be worth a punt. Certainly Mike Lull would do a good job.
  2. They're awful, hateful things. I remember playing though one 12 years ago and I still feel scarred by the experience. It made my status buzzard sound like a rubber ball being bounced on a wet bathroom floor. The fact that it could do that to without a shadow of doubt the brightest and most cutting bass I've ever played says it all. Total and utter crap.
  3. It never used to be a special order. If one were being cynical, I would say it's been removed so they can give it a revised price after the latest Mark King pimping.
  4. The Status T-Bass has been reissued for about 10 years. This isn't anything new. At least it's better than cranking out a TENTH version of the kingbass.
  5. Ha! That was great fun. 😜 For those concerned about power handling, we smashed 530 watts at 8 ohms into it and it didn't compress at quite insane volume especially for a 1x10. Some manufacturers say things continue to get louder as you turn the volume up. Mostly this is just marketing crap. In the case of the One10, that's actually true.
  6. Nah, Merton popped over to my studio for a play of a few basses and as well as his acg, he brought the barefaced to try.
  7. Someone I know had one of the anniversary models that was like 3 grand. I played it and still thought it was crap. Admittedly, because it's for people who don't use any treble, which obviously isn't me.
  8. I played Merton's 1x10 and it was really good. Weighed nothing, surprisingly loud and had a very high treble extension for a cab with no tweeter. I thought it was great.
  9. Everyone knows you shouldn't burn Hofner basses as they're made of potatoes and dead cats. Much like DFS sofas.
  10. The Paul McCartney setting most definitely did not send me into an eBay frenzy looking for Hofner violin basses....
  11. Manual is now on Tech21's website. Curious that there's no John Entwistle setting considering what the pedal does. Unfortunately there's a McCartney setting..... euurrrgh. On the plus side there is a Cheap Trick, Muse and Yes settings. This is going to be brilliant.
  12. Traveller. The "p" is for piezo in regards to the tweeter.
  13. I'm really excited about this. As someone who likes his dirt/grit/filth, this is going to be quality. Now of course, all of us have to do reviews when we get the beast. As many different basses as possible. Videos as well will be fun. 😀
  14. I was hoping that everyone would subsidise me down to a fiver. £7.50 is price gouging and totally unacceptable. Do you work for Westside Distribution?!!
  15. @Tech21NYC I have a question. I was hoping that the manual would be out or that a video demo would address this. Is it possible to turn the unit on straight into mix mode or does it always default to the clean channel when you press the on switch even if you've turned it off in mix mode? Just curious.
  16. You've forgotten me! I was first on!
  17. I played through the ultra version at the bass show in Saturday. I thought it was brilliant. I would say as well on an unrelated note, I was one of the first people in on Saturday and as such played the darkglass stuff while the place was quiet. The cabs are good. I tried a lot of permutations of fx and and settings and the vast majority of them sounded good. On the other hand, I was playing a dingwall, so stuff should sound good. It was also quite funny that the two said to me it was refreshing that I didn't immediately start slapping. I started playing something I was working on. "Tool isn't it?" No, that was me actually, I said. I've always liked darkglass stuff and for the sorts of things I do now it works perfectly. Then again, it should as I'm their target "progressive metal" bass player. I had a word about midi and they said they would see. Hopefully, but they seemed to suggest that I was in the minority wanting such functionality. That's a pity, but still, really good cakes.
  18. True. That which cannot be named. On a serious level though, how many are they going to sell at those prices? How did we get to the point where that was even remotely okay? Naturally if one could get away with it you'd continue, but it's still way too expensive. I find it funny that people moaned about Alex putting his prices up but yet they're nowhere close to this nonsense and nobody seems to bat an eye.
  19. Let's be fair, at £1760 for a 4x10 and (if memory serves) almost £900 for a 1x12, I'm pretty sure Aguilar can afford to be there. What I thought was especially funny was that if you walked 2 stands along, Peavey were selling their 4x10 for £350. Five times better? I doubt it is, but that pricing is tonto. Nobody with any sanity will pay that much. Aguilar are now having a laugh.
  20. That guy is a world class tool. I hadn't been aware of YouTube idiots as I never really watch things like this, but, a tool who plays variations of the same 5 slap licks is nothing more than he is at least on cursory glance. I'm happy to avoid it. However on a lighter note as he's known as Davie504, it does conjure up images of science fiction dystopia where people don't have full names and have bar codes tattooed on their arms. I seem to have went off reservation there, but seriously, if anyone uses that idea, I want royalties.
  21. If the amp doesn't go to 2.6 ohms wouldn't it be reasonably likely? 8 ohm and 4 ohm cabs creating undue stress on the amplifier. Still, Ashdown are giving a very curious response to this. One that there is no way I'd be taking.
  22. That's some of the best crap I've read in a long time. "We've made a mistake which could have blown up your amp. Pity..... However, if you give us some cash and swallow our immensely condescending comments, we can fix this terrible problem for you which had nothing to do with us" Pfft. Jog on.
  23. Fixed for you squire. 😜
  24. Superb! Really nice playing squire.
  25. That's brilliant! What's it made of? I can't quite tell from the photo.
