I must admit, I agree. I can imagine the line from Lock, Stock being used, "If you don't want to be counting the fingers you haven't got or sharing a bed with the antichrist....." There will probably be someone who can't afford getting ripped off who will know a few folk, then it'll all go south for Mr. Mason.

It seems that this has gone way past "a couple of sansamp pedals." It does seem that defrauding venues is now on the agenda as well as bands. Whilst I appreciate that the Cops are immensely constrained in terms of budgets and personnel, surely we're getting to the point where they have to take notice as we're now talking thousands and thousands of pounds, not just a couple of hundred quid on scamming people on pedals. Since the guy is stupid enough to do this stuff and have his address freely available on the internet, I'd imagine it's only a matter of time before things turn nasty and people pay him a visit in light of no legal action being taken. Or they might just do that anyway.

It's got a jazz nut. So, not for me.

I hope Rob is fully in remission and that he enjoys his semi retirement as he put it. I would imagine that they'll be outsourcing instruments and some form of announcement will be made in the near future. From a personal perspective, I've met Rob and Dawn a few times and they're lovely people. As the owner of the last status Buzzard, I'm happy that he made that bass as to me it is the greatest bass ever made. The irony is the week before they stopped taking orders I was going to order a Stealth. I had the email in draft and was just mulling over an option or two. I've literally been awaiting them to take orders again. I guess I'll have to see what goes on. One thing is for sure. If the brand comes back it won't be "Status by Warwick" after the Buzzard debacle in 2005.
-
Yeah. I just think it's a bit too pricey. Then again, I thought that about the Geezer head as it really wasn't that great when I tried one. The 2 ohm thing was an observation as my GK Fusion 1200 cost a lot less than that and does 2 ohms. As does a fair amount of EBS stuff as well. The Ashdown stuff of old used to do 2 x 575W. Not anymore it appears. I have nothing against Ashdown as they make some great stuff, but the hit/miss rate of things they have is now being compounded by a whopping price increase which had started to happen as far back as the B-Social debacle.
-
I saw that the other day. £1500 for that is total crack pipe territory. Its not light, it doesn't do 2 ohms and appears to be not that much different from recent models. I appreciate that Ashdown are trying to reposition themselves as some sort of musical lifestyle brand what with headphones and studio monitors. However, they're not Darkglass and won't sell many of them.

Status Basses are not taking any new orders for now
Wolverinebass replied to joe_geezer's topic in Bass Guitars
Yeah. I played that at the Bass Guitar show. I remember being quite excited until I realised that the top wing wasn't the right angle to lay your elbow on like the buzzard. It's just a touch too low. I remember it was tuned very low like G#, but it was in some open tuning that I can't quite remember offhand. It wasn't a bad bass in any way, but it wasn't the environment for trying it out properly with everyone slapping themselves within an inch of their lives. I guess we'll see in what format it comes out in. The one I played was a bolt on in matt black with the body being alder if I remember right. Maybe it might be neck through or one piece graphite. We wait and see. I remember Status put up a picture of a Barracuda bass in salmon pink just before they stopped taking orders, so that's probably a thing as well. The Electro 4 has been in redevelopment for almost 2 years, so maybe that as well? Who knows. -

I would imagine that they'll do the Alex Venturella bass. I mean, I played it at the bass show almost 7 years ago. I await the Kingbass v10 with (affects high pitched squeal of excitement) "everything just like Mark has it!!" Yes, that is sarcasm. Please, some sort of Buzzard replacement?! Like was suggested might happen in 2007 when I took mine to Rob for a service. The Level 42 thing has now become very grating. I wonder how many Chris Wolstenholme variants with people playing Hysteria badly rather than Mr Pink it will take before some form of new model may come out. Hopefully not fanned frets either. -
That's most definitely not true. I play metal and my action is lower than the Mariana Trench. Frankly, as Janek Gwizdala plays a bass that looks like a melted plastic bath toy, I'll take his opinion with a skip load of salt. Plus, it depends how you define "articulation." For me it's hearing every percussive click and snap of my playing. You will never get that with a high action.

Aguilera have already been ruined by their absolutely insane pricing. £1700 for a 4x10?!! Jog on.

24 years of playing bass and still getting fired
Wolverinebass replied to Bobby Aaron's topic in General Discussion
Sounds like the lead guitarist is a tosser. I'm surprised he still has his own teeth. Don't get upset. Find something where what you do is respected and valued. -
My band Terbium put out our debut single!
Wolverinebass replied to Wolverinebass's topic in Share Your Music
Although we've not announced it properly yet, our 2nd single comes out in a few weeks. -
Okay then, here we go. Nuts slimmer than 42.5mm. Necks which are massively thick from front to back. Necks that have a massive taper in them. Single cuts. 3 point bridges. Coil switching. Bolt on necks with massive heels and little upper fret access. Crap tone circuits. Specifically, Spector Tonepump being a classic example.

I am so happy I got a Gallien Krueger Fusion 1200s a few months ago. Means I don't have to say I'm tempted to get one. Wouldn't mind trying one though.

So, last Friday, my band Terbium put out our debut single "Hey Ya." It's progressive material per se. For those of you wondering, I'm playing a Wal. As a second shameless plug, I also produced this (recorded/mixed/mastered) at my own studio (www.eraxsound.com). If anyone needs anything done, basschat discount applies.

I had the 61 key version of that about 15 years ago. Is Doug not involved with Darkglass anymore? From watching the reviews, it does seem more than a little underwhelming to say the least, especially being almost £900.

He's one of my Facebook friends as well and a thoroughly lovely guy. It's always great to chat to him.

The best one for me was when he started slating Entwistle. I then found a video of his band playing 5:15. Badly. He was also playing the bass part very badly. I remember laughing so hard I felt I could asphyxiate as I could play that song better when I was 19. I mean, all of us here know what we're good at and what we're not so good at. That's regardless of what genre or style of player you are. I'm happy to admit my technical and professional failings. In truth, I miss his "Legend in his own mind," crap as it's so risible.
-
I miss JTUK. His constant proclamations of being amazing and what his vastly excessive tech requirements were for foldback monitoring. Then you find out he's playing "The Tickled Trout," in front of a massive plasma screen showing the FA Cup replay of Stoke v Crewe. How he only played with "named professionals," and was so amazingly talented at bass he could sneer at some of the greatest players to ever pick up the instrument yet provided no evidence of how he was apparently better. What a tool.

Or just turn up and don't care.

Funnily enough, I'd be after a Stealth, but I'll see how much stuff goes up in price.
