  1. Going in the bin when I move house in a few weeks if no one wants it Collect from The Level area in Brighton
  2. Found that Goldo bridge btw, if you want it you can have it for postage.
  3. I think spacing could be anything 19mm or under to be honest, I keep mine at that with no problems. Pics attached so you get an idea of what you'd be looking at for the end of the neck
  4. The bridge on mine (the red one) was one of these Goldo bridges from Thomann- https://m.thomann.de/gb/goeldo_hw50c_bass_3d_steg.htm?o=88&search=1604047006 Since then I swapped it out for a HipShot KickAss which is much nicer and also has adjustable spacing. One thing I really didn't like about the Goldo is that it has those grub screws that set the saddles in place by tightening into the channel in which the saddle sits and they're a pain to set up. I really don't know why a few booteek builders use them, I would rather a cheapo BBOT myself. Are you going for 17mm spacing because that's what the original bridge has? Mine is set up as 19mm so it's the same as my other bass and plays just fine. The KickAss would allow you to experiment though, so still gets my vote.
  5. This will probs be my solution for a 30, as I love the bronco neck. It's close to my ideal profile. That is an enormous help! Just bought two of his last three I dont know how I missed these when looking through eBay.... Hmmm... Not a bronco, as they're all maple. Maybe a Jag short scale? If so it's a very nice neck.
  6. I'm considering my first bass body build but I'm not yet ready to make a neck. Thing is, I mainly play short scale, and there seems to be a real lack of aftermarket 30/32" necks. Right now my only option other than buying a whole bass and nicking the neck off it seems to be Warmoth, which would probably be slightly dearer than buying new 32 Ibanez Mezzo or other budget shorty/ medium scale. Anyone know of another option out there? I can't imagine a luthier custom built neck coming in under the price of Warmoth, even with import fees.
  7. If ever you find yourself worrying about the price of a custom pedal or how much money you stand to lose if you decide to sell it on, take solace in the fact that you didn't decide to "save" money by learning to build your own effects. That's the true money sink I think this looks dope, and a whole lot of fun. Hope it works out for you!
  8. I'll throw in a vote for the DiMarzio DP123 Model J set. Clear, slightly grindy warmth and a fair price. Also available in sweet, 1970s cream finish which is a bonus if you're as vulgar as I am!
  9. No need to apologise, it was a genuine enquiry. Always wished there was a naked brass version. Nowt wrong with them as they are though, quality stuff. GLWS
  10. Are these zinc baseplates and saddles in a gold finish? I didn't think badass bridges were made of brass?
  11. Well, guess it's all my fault, that was a typo. To think, this could have all been avoided if you hadn't gone.. well, whatever this nonsense is. I'm going to ask this thread to be locked, so please get any snide remarks or comments in ASAP, I don't want to be accused of censorship.
  12. For the record, yes I put £200 as an offer. £120 for the bass, £40 for insured postage, £10 for materials and £30 for my time Yep, it's a lot, but that's because I don't want to post it
  13. £60 posted was silly and you know it. I also put in the advert that I'm not going to post it. I made a perfectly polite offer to post it and you seem to want to trash me for it? You're the time waster, not me. Thanks for making this public, too. Stay classy, kid I've amended the listing to remove any silly pleas for sale. They're clearly seen by some to mean I need money desperately and it's time to try and exploit that. If anyone wants to pick it up they can, but mods can lock this thread for all I care.
  14. Well, she needs a lot of setup work as it's a newborn bitsa, and I somehow messed up wiring a God damn precision(?!) but it seems fairly stable and hasn't exploded. Why would a precision explode, you ask? Well, the bridge on this bad boy isn't your standard BBOT.... I've never even seen another Hipshot trem system in real life, so the chance to play with one is just fantastic. I'm going to come back to this thread when I've had a few more days off work and a chance to do a bit of a spit and polish, maybe even a demo, but for now I couldn't wait to show it off. This has been a lot of slow, stressful work and having a vaguely playable bass is very, very exciting! Please, someone be half as excited as me!!
  15. Oh that's super pretty. I've come to realise the Bronco neck is just perfect for me, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Congratulations on a really beautiful build.
  16. To be clear, are we talking just gluing a bolt on neck into the pocket? Was any work carried out to lengthen/ strengthen the neck joint?
  17. After much messing around with milk paint and briwax, I'm happy with the colour and finish of the body... Great if you can't use spray paint for whatever reason! Going to give it a week for the briwax to at least start curing before I do anything else. In the meantime I made a custom thumb rail for the scratchplate out of some old offcut material Really happy with this, it's all but invisible from a few feet, but is super effective!
  18. I thought I just got used to them, but had these on my bass maybe 4 weeks and I'm now totally in love with them, give them some time and hopefully they'll break in
  19. I think some cold light of day close up pictures of "the bad" might help move this, I'm curious and more than a little tempted, but it's impossible to say without knowing exactly what I'm getting into. That said, I dig your vision on this project, it certainly looks cool as Christmas from the pic!
  20. Sure, why not! Cool little idea, and I've learned a lot from this site since I joined... 9 years ago?? Jesus I'm getting old ...
  21. How does the plywood body effect the weight? Also is it wired up as a passive bass now with the pickup change?
  22. Also, i have a bridge with adjustable spacing on my Bronco and have it set to 19mm spacing just so it matches my other basses. It's a touch tight but totally fine. I think 18mm is ideal for the neck though.
  23. If you're planning on stripping the paint off it before the respray, dont bother with paint stripper, just use a heat gun and scraper. There isn't a chemical on earth that will even touch the sides of an affinity paint job! Trust me, I have been there and tried it....
  24. It can be set up like any two point Strat trem, either floating or flush to the body. I'll try floating though because it sounds more fun/ ridiculous! I'm as curious as anyone to see how this turns out... According to reports, full on dive bombs are on the cards, but these seem to be rare and there isn't much info out there.... Perhaps anyone foolish enough to fit one are killed when the bass inevitably explodes and that's why there are so few user reports...
