  1. Lovely config! Charcoal for me too.
  2. I practice pretty much everyday, even if it's only for half an hour - you get greater gains in your technique that way. I'm splitting my practice time between a couple of instruments right now so I have to be strict and have a good idea what I'm going to go through and that I touch on everything. For example I go through a warm up routine I got from a bass book which is great for strength and endurance, then I'll hit slap techniques for a while, going through riffs I've learned then finishing on the latest slap riff I'm currently learning. Then I'll move on to a Jazz bass solo I'm working on then play through some band numbers or riffs for a new song.
  3. I know it's a shorty - but that looks tiny. Or is that bloke dead big?
  4. Go on Kev, buy it so I can have a go!
  5. I'm interested as I love the Stingray tone but prefer short scales these days. I hope the price is right - if it's a good bass of course. Most shorties are budgeted towards the cheaper end the market and it could be a classier mainstream alternative.
  6. I have a Marusz.. short scale Elwood and it's awesome. It's now my main home practice bass. I'm tempted to get another to leave in the band's rehearsal room so I can gig with it.
  7. Another vote for the PJB Bighead. A bit spendy but so worth it if you can afford it. I've had mine for a couple of years now, use it almost every day, and still absolutely love the tone I can get out of it.
  8. I like a bit of slap. It takes discipline like any other style or technique of bass and when it's done well sounds great to me.
  9. No worries - good luck with the sale!
  10. Lovely bass - I want it very much, but lack the funds. Interested in any trades at all?
  11. I've had both but there were many years between the two. The Spectracomp is way more versatile. But I think comps are set and forget pedals for a lot of us so this may not be an issue. The EBS is still a great pedal.
  12. Awesome amps these!
  13. Playboy was the best jazz mag I ever come across.......
  14. As ever with Ibby's - that's a lot of bass for the money.
  15. Great news! Terrible effort between Polar and GK though.
  16. Thanks for your quick response. Can you point me to Lugs custom IEM's? I can't find them. Thanks.
  17. Agreed - I only discovered these this year and they are my string of choice now.
  18. After the band recently converted to IEM's I've found that I seem to be the only one not enjoying the experience. The issue seems to be that my Sure 215's don't fit that well in my ears and are always loose which means I have no bass end. The other band members are saying they can hear the bass fine so it's just me. I end up switching my amp on so I can hear myself which completely defeats the purpose. What's the best solution for this? Incidentally I don't get on with ear buds either for exactly the same reason - I must have crap ear holes. I note that mouldies are an option but these seem to be outside my budget, although I've not discounted this option yet. I really don't fancy wearing cans. Any ideas?
  19. I'm gassing for the 4 string version but am determined to hang fire for now - not quite ready to make the leap to fretless yet.
  20. Man, that would break my heart if it happened to my Shuker. It's a stunning bass and I'm sure Jon will have it fixed up good as new.
  21. Wow - that's a lot of guitar for not a lot of money!
  22. Some lovely basses on here. I used to hate headless but I've come around and would actually like to own one at some point in the future.
  23. Ooof - stunning bass - Jon's work is truly awesome!
  24. Congrats on your new bass. I think Ibanez basses are generally amazing value for money - brand new and even more so 2nd hand - as unfortunately they don't hold their value at all. I love short scale bases too - more comfortable with having small mitts and T-rex arms!
