  1. This. Last year I was in a similar position as the OP, I could slap a little but not really great at it. I'm about 1/3 of the way through Clayton's book and am so much better than I was this time last year.
  2. As an old thrasher I find the idea of playing thrash with one finger incredible! That's a serious talent right there. Even Cliff needed two! - you must have a bionic finger!
  3. Yup - me too!
  4. Empress traded. Thanks Ian.
  5. Both reluctant sales but I need to add a DI to my pedal board so they have to go. Would love to trade for a good DI and/or a TC Spectra Comp with cash either way depending on the pedal(s). Otherwise price listed below. Both in excellent condition with Velcro on the bottom and come with the boxes etc. Empress compressor £160. Darkglass B3K original handmade made in Finland version £140. Will get pics up over the weekend.
  6. Yeah not the prettiest.
  7. Thanks Nick. I had assumed that this would be the case but saw a thread on TB referring to the on board volume pedal and looking to had an expression pedal. That's a relief as use my expression pedal way more than my volume pedal.
  8. Hang on. Just read that the on-board pedal is a volume only pedal - not an expression pedal. Is this right?
  9. Ah I see. I thought you were stuck with the colour of effect type type and that was worrying me. Thanks Dan. The Helix sounds perfect for what I want to do. I've been a gig fan of the M13 in all its incarnations for years and this is so much more useful. Will have a think first though - it's such a radical change of gear.
  10. Brill! Thanks for clarifying.
  11. Also, I can't see that there is a pitch glide effect (like the M13 whammy) on the effect list. Does it have one?
  12. I'm thinking of going down this route. It would be a great solution to a number of issues I have at the minute. I'd rather get the LT due to the price difference, but I find the the lack of effect visualization (or lack of scribble strips from the floor model) a bit daunting. LT users out there - is this an issue at all?
  13. Arrr, sad news. I've got a soft spot for Mr Big who I stumbled across following Sheehan's career in the early 90's. RIP Pat.
  14. Thanks for posting this WoT. The dimensions was the first thing that popped into my head. Just so happens this will fit on my BF ST - holy balls! Major gas now!
  15. This is a perfect summary of my thoughts on bass tone.
  16. Well done sir!
  17. I've not tried it at gig volumes and it can do loud in a home environment. But it all honesty it's rated at 30w and I don't think it would would have a chance against a couple of guitars or a loud drummer. Still available incidentally.
  18. Funny, but not for me.
  19. Hall of fame if you're looking at the cheaper end. They crop up at around £60 on here and Ebay. Not much better at that price.
  20. Not sure about that as they're not exactly cheap are they? I had the same rig as you. The BF super 12 is so much better in every aspect not just the weight. It was cheaper than that pairing too.
  21. I was set to sell my entire MB rig as I thought it too dull. It was great for thud but little else. Bought a different cab and the tone was awesome. I still have the amp - it's ace.
  22. Despite loving the Bongo tone and the headstock - I can't get my head around the toilet bowl body shape.
  23. Thanks for your response. Jon made the pre-amp himself. If the passive switch is a possibility I'd be looking to take it to a local luthier. I didn't really want to bother Jon seeing as how busy he is but it might be best to confer with him first.
  24. I have an active Shuker which takes 2 9v batteries. I'm not sure whether the pre-amp takes the two batteries or if one is for the pups (Delano SBC 4's I think) and one is for the on board pre-amp (Jon's own). So, would it be possible to mod the bass to include a passive switch? I wished I'd requested this at the outset but I didn't even know they existed then. If so, how much would this procedure generally cost? Thanks all.
  25. Looks like a Shuker headstock on a Warickesque body. I don't mind the form factor but that moldy cheese-looking burst effect is awful.
