thing is for that price you could probably swoop on one of the 'holy grails' - an original mutron or lovetone meatball. That's what I'd do if I had £250 spare.

Probably the most useful pedal I've bought. I can now bypass my effects completely, Loop A is for my regular pedals and loop B is for tone sucky ones or fx I want to interact in parallel with loop A pedals. I've not noticed any loss of tone with this pedal.

^^^ Sorry, when I said design your own bass, I didn't really mean the shape so much as the woods, pick-ups, pre-amp, neck, fingerboard etc; you know -all the cool choices you get to make when you call Jon and ask for one of his custom basses.
-
I think it's lovely - but if your going down the custom bass route why bother getting a copy of someone else's bass when you can design your own - slightly off topic but I thought I'd throw it in there.
I'd seriously reccomend the mastotron, I've never played a b:assmaster so I can't really compare them, but the mastotron can do pretty much any sound, with the impedance blend it loves my active, and it's an mxr size box
For some reason I thought the Mastotron was bigger than than that - I'll have to keep my eye out out for one on ebay.

Thanks Bob, I have an active bass so I can chalk this one off. The search continues....

Hey Bob, how do you find the Cherry Pop? I've been looking out for small fuzzes to potentially replace my Assmaster- (pure real estate decision) and this could be what I'm after.

M-Audio 410 Firewire Interface
burno70 replied to tayste_2000's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
I've had one of these for a couple of years now and it's ace I reckon. Like you, a little more than I need right now but it has more options which may come in handy in the future. If anyone wants a nice bit of kit to plug your bass, geetars, keyboard into your pc this interface it the dogs dong. Good luck with the sale. -
From what I've read I don't think the Diago 18v adaptor would run an original Mutron - different type of adaptor, not sure about the Hazlabs version. You could PM Higgie for a more technical answer, he has one and uses a double battery adaptor thang.
-
I'm running between 8-10 pedals from a diago, one uses the 18v voltage doubler adaptor, no humming whatsoever. Would highly recommend.

This is an excellent, insightful post. I think trying to do as much as you can for yourself is a much better solution than praying for that big life changing deal. Although, whichever way you cut it, it always boils down to attracting a decent following - unfortunately for my band (too many gigs in front of too few people). (I might post a separate thread for this and see what tips I can gleam for increasing your following!) Has anyone looked into site's like sellaband or slicethepie? For those who are not familiar these are sites were, roughly speaking, you post your music (for a nominal fee of course) and if people believe in you they can make a donation which, if you reach the magic number of followers means the site owners will arrange for your band to make an album, PR, video etc. It sounds alright in theory - but I've personally not heard of anyone "making it" via this means. And, following from earlier posts, what "making it" entails is entirely subjective anyway.

As it happens Dood is selling a midi foot controller thang - and because I'm nice, here's the link = http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=40476

NOt sure if that would help - it all depends on what the problem is. Have you tried using any other amps? If not take your bass to your local music shop and pretend you are trying out different amps and see what happens - no twang and it's the amp, not the bass.
Ah yeah. My Meatwad's got a switch to do exactly that, but it seems I'm the only person in the universe who's ever asked for that option...
Damn - if I'd have known anything about loops I would have definately requested this option! I could always send it back to Mario - it has a ground fault and I could kill two birds one stone etc. It's just going without the meatwad for 6 weeks.

Thanks for the reply Dood. I think I'll have to resist until I've bought a lap-top to run samples from first. I thought you sold an M80 recently? I have a brand new one, never been used which I'm willing to part with to fund said lap-top if your interested? I wanted to keep hold of this for recording but the band haven't got any immediate recordings lined up and I'm gassing for a lap top at the minute. Let me know - and thanks.

What's the setting like on your amp?

OK, just back from Star Trek and tried it out. Definately works better with the Assmaster in the loop, no doubt about it. Problem is I can't engage the fuzz independently from the filter which is not an option. I'd need to get a dedicated fuzz specifically to do this and that aint gonna happen - board space and funds etc. I get a nice sound out of it running my overdrive pedal in series before the Meatwad though so I'll stick with that for now - but thanks again for the tip!
Well it looks like you've got the Assmaster and the Hyperpak in series before the Meatwad. If you switch (one of) those on with the Meatwad I would imagine the dynamics of your playing would be flattened quite a lot by the fuzz, and the filter wouldn't quack so much. Whereas if you put a fuzz in the filter's loop you'd still get the sound of the fuzz being first in the chain, but you'd have the benefit of your clean signal triggering the filter, so the filter would be much more reactive to your playing. The benefits are especially obvious if you use a lot of gain on your fuzz. Certainly if I put my Woolly Mammoth infront of a filter, the filter just stays wide open! Whereas in the loop the envelope follower can work properly.
Excellent - that explains perfectly why I don't get a particularly great sound from using the Assmaster with the meatwad as is. I shall try this tonight. Thanks for the explanation.
That jazz looks delicious! If only i could afford
It is delicious. I play this one quite regularly round at Eds, it sounds amazing, plays lovely and I'm totally gutted I don't have the spuds to buy it. It is a total steal at that price. It's a million times better than what Fender are offering for twice as much at the moment - and no I'm not "sticking up for a mate" its the truth. I'm genuinely bitter it's going and not to me! Good luck with the sale kev (well kind off)

Samples added above.

It does eat into the plastic but I haven't heard any hiss although at the same time I've read reports that your sound should improve dramatically from using moulded plastic patch cables and I didn't hear that either. It's just neater. FWIW I didn't really see the set up as a chore or hassle but enjoyed putting it all together.
Not using the loop on the Meatwad?
I already get a really cool sound from it in series and haven't felt the need to dabble with the loop. What are the benefits of using the loop? I'm not that techy - go on, hit me with the knowledge!

^^^ will do mate, it's a Diago, dunno it's name, whatever the smallest board is.

Both mint with packaging and a manual for the LMB. (HyperPak doesn't have one - it only has 2 knobs afterall). The HyperPak is practically brand new - bought it 2 months ago, cost me £103 with the exchange rate, although I touched lucky with customs. I'll take £85 posted. sold. For the LMB - £40 posted. Cheers
