Aha .... from this graph http://www.talkbass.com/forum/attachment.p...mp;d=1198345695 It looks like a submarine pedal does the job.
thats a big muff tone stack. it'd be very easy to build a rc filter into a box if you wanted to, you could even have a rotary switch to set the cut off frequency etc.
Aw man I dunno what to do what could it be paired with?
to be fair it'll still do great grindy punchy tones, just not upper bass etc. what tuning do you play in?
Vintage has much thinner wood that gains it some inches, plus much cleverer drivers. I think best plan would be use it as a guitar cab/toppy end of a dual rig, it is what I'm going to do with it when I get my hands on it.
Is what i'd also do, although i've already got a matamp 2X15 that does that haha.

Did a bit more today, mostly today was just shaping the headstock adding the frets and gluing the wings on. neck fretted up various angles of bass with wings clamped on and gluing. Tommorow should be great to get started on shaping it!
Are they the 300watt ones by any chance? 8 ohm each? so if i had two, that would make the cab impedance 4 ohms right? looks like they're £100 each like OUCH!
yeah they are and it would, well if you think about it it's gonna be a hell of a lot better than any comercial cab you could buy for that price.
I guess i'd like a compromise. Im thinking about replacing my head with a bass terror for the time being. (currently have a Trace AH300SMX) But then in the future, i'm definately wanting a Matamp GT200. The bass terror has 500 watts RMS if im not mistaken so that will need to be considered. Also, i may even be looking at getting a sound city 120, obviously less RMS, so sensitivity is an issue also. I think i'm going to have to find some kind of compromise.
trust me with the soundcity and a pair of basslites you'll get far to loud. I get to loud driving a single basslite with a 30watt head!

in that cab, would go for celestion orange labels or eminence basslite speakers since they should both be okay in a sealed enclosure, bit over your budget though
The lad selling it is trying to get more information for me apparently! All i can do is wait and see what price he wants for it! I'm definately wanting to buy it like, but should it not suit me i'm sure there'd be interest for it on here Also, speaker reccomendations anybody?
depends on your budget i reckon. Also getting a ad200 with this cab would be sacralidge!
Alright awesome never used 15's like what should i expect?
man if you don't buy that link me to the dude selling i'd totally be all over that! Speakers in it look like goodmans or something and i'm guessing 50-100watts a piece, i'd definatly respeaker it though.

not sure they're out yet, they do look good though
What he said. Seems fine with both active and passive instruments. A
not ideal but does work, may limit frequency response.
Ok, I think that makes sense. For clarity, the pedal will have less gain ability?....so you'd have to turn up the gain to achieve the same level pre-mod?! Ummm, what if you wanted to attenuate the gate via an added control-knob? Si
The original mod would also lower the gain, but via attenuation rather than feedback. It'll still have more than enough gain though it is a muff after all. Having the pot in series will allow you to control how gated it is aswell and if you use a 1M it'll make for a wider range of sounds!

here you go took me a few seconds to find in google http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:dvWarZd...15f.jpg&t=1
Cheers, will do. I reckon I might need some help on component changes for switching NPN and PNP circuits, adding a blend control and improving bass response. Got 4 boxes coming, 2 * 1 knob, 2 * 2 knob and a 5 knob. I reckon a couple of fuzz faces, (1 AC127 germ and one BC108 Si), a couple of one knob fuzzes (ie colorsounds) and either a fuzz factory or a wooly mammoth clone, although I'm open to suggestions. Edit:- here's a list of the transistors I've got so far to play with. 8 * BD139 (possibly useless for fuzz) 4 * gain selected (2 pairs) AC127 20 * BC108 6 * BC109B (might use a couple of these for modding my Crybaby) 2 * gain selected 2N404 6 * AC176
sounds like a great plan to me! i'll show you the mods i've tried for my fuzz faces once you've had a play around with the circuit -
increasing negative feedback reduces noise and lowers the gain of the stage, to much will make it oscillate though. Bit better than just lowering signal going into the stage IMO. just replace the 470k strapped across the second gain stage with a 100k or 47k resistor with a 470k or 1M pot in series.

Peavey IPR 1600 530 Watt Power Amplifier - anyone tried one ?
umph replied to Soliloquy's topic in Amps and Cabs
i've got one, i've yet to do extensive testing but they do everything they say they do on the tin -
personally i think you're better off changing the amount of negative feedback in the second gain stage to have a kind've gate function

that was the third day, i've split the course over a few weeks though so the next day i'll be doing work is wednesday and then i'll be doing alot of sanding at home.

1) depends on how much you use it 2) adjust to taste 3) most basses are effected tone wise as to where you play in relation to the pick up 4) not got any experience with it. you might get more answers if you post this in the bass guitar section. Also remember not to play with the knobs on full unless you like a scooped sound
