1. you should maybe get your guitarist to sort his tone rather than trying to fill all the frequencys yourself
2. bump
3. really like the look of the cab and i love the stuff that guys done over on those forums. Personally wouldn't buy one because a 112 would never be enough for me.
4.
I don't, I think they are custom hence the fact that they are actually 8ohm for the cab not 6.7ohms called 8ohms But really the proof is in the fact it sound freakin sweet
Would really like to know what speakers they went for, matamp make great boxes but they aren't exactly that up there when it comes to speaker design.
5.
Sealed, infinate baffle and black only, that's how they keep the cost down standard box. I mean this is cheaper than 2nd hand production 6x10's and you know it's going to be awesome. Very similar to my 8x10 but less size and weight but still all the tone.
ahh fairy snuff, i'll see if i can afford one so i can get my DOOM on. Do you know what speakers are in it?
6. pretty tempted by this actually, what colour do they come in and what speakers are in it? Think i may have to get this for drive side of the rig. edit ; totally blind are you sure jeff can't do a few in non black? also are these cabs sealed?
7. that rick is very nice if i could afford it i'd bite your arm off!
8. amazing basses highly recomended especially for that amount
9. b-15 type ones are the only ones that take 6sl7's i guess edit; guess it'd be a pretty big hastle adapting the svt / v4 preamp for them aswell.
10. rebuilding it into a rack unit wouldn't be an impossible task
11. orange don't look right in black.

13. Up for sale is what i assume is a hondo rickenfaker. It has a rickenbacker badge on the top and very similar pick ups and bridge to the real deal. Soundwise i would say it gets fairly close to the rick sound but lacks a little of the high end snap, hard to tell with dead strings on it though! It plays fairly well and has no truss rod/neck issues etc. but does have a few minor dings. One went for £337 on ebay last week so i'd like around 300 for it OBO. I can arrange shipping at cost to buyer. I also have more pictures if you'd like.
14.
Unless you pull them out with your mouth It seems the Little Bastard suffers from the same issues most Mesa 400+'s do, they just shouldn't be putting 12ax7's in the drive section.
83's really aren't the ideal valve for the drive section in any amp, 81's do a much better job, 82's an even better one and 12bh7s / ecc99's even better than that!
15.
I'm from a generation that were told that electricity was dangerous.
theres no danger of shock with changing valves.
16.
I tried one of these out at the weekend. I was really disappointed in it. It was far too distorted for bass (it wasn't mild distortion it was a LOT of distortion). I don't get it - because bassists rarely distort their sound much even in metal or Punk bands. Much more suited to guitar I would have thought
there's alot more distortion going on on bass than you think, try some out for yourself in a band situation. Also try not playing on full to get less distortion.
17.
I'm currently on the lookout for some good bass amplifiers like eden, markbass etc. What is the best sort and what do you recommend? The problem: I live in a country where there is next to no high end bass amps. For instance the best a shop offers within a 50 mile radius is Hiwatt. I play in a medium to large church and i think 500W would be good enough. I'm also moving into the realm of recording professionally and need a set up that will be good enough to kill two birds with one stone! Any help would be appreciated!
whats wrong with hiwatt? Thought they'd nail the church tone kinda vibe
18.
My Dad is a hoarder. Here is but a corner of his spare room... ...yes, that is an AC30. With blue speakers.
ooo nice collection beats mine! think they'll work out as a good pension fund soon.
19.
Besides the fact that this band are an indie pop band, I really like the bass players tone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XECTGXi0dDc I was wondering what sort of amp would get this tone, and what settings, and other pedals I would need to get it. As far as I know he uses a fender jazz bass and either an svt2 or an ampeg classic; it varies between shows. I currently have an ampeg 410hlf, with an svt3 on the way (just waiting for it to be delivered). I use an active precision special with both a p and j pickup. So basically, would I be able to get this tone with my setup, and how? If not, what else can I buy to help? thanks in advance!
you shouldn't have a problem just use the bridge pick up and play near the bridge
20. good old superbass and super PA, one of thems also going to have to go soon first tape echo i owned, i've currently got a re-201 which needs a motor rewind i'll put some more pictures up of amps when i get them uploaded, got a few other prototypes and another reel to reel i've done up and another little giant etc etc. the list goes on!
21. here are a few combos i've owned, my favorite definatly has to be the first wem one, it really made a great sound when you cranked it latest form of the mammothsound200b will eventually get round to doing it properly! heres an old reel to reel i converted into a 5watt valve amp, pretty great when you want distortion at not epic volumes at home A great rare marshall 2001 amp, these amps really are svt killers, unfortunatly it needs a bit of work doing on it still and i really can't justify keeping it anymore though check out the iron on it!
22. Around the same time i got the beck i also got one of the harley benton ga5 valve amps to play around with. It went through a few different stages, it's now a 6v6 based preamp. me and a mate picked up this marshall lead 30watter and cab for 150quid which was far to gooda deal to let go by, ended up selling it for about 900 Then decided i'd try the pre / power route again and got a matamp quasar 1000, really good heads that go for really cheap only downside is the weight. Inca has this now ended up getting a few 400+'s in a deal i couldn't refuse, always found them a little lacking in the low end due to the fender style front end, but great heads none the less.
23. around the time i had the v6 i built my first head - a bassman 5f6 clone which does a really nice clean sound but sounds far to wooly cranked (valve rectification + bass doesn't work) I ended up selling the v6 to fund building my first head from scratch from the carcass of an old roost slave, still got it and it sounds the dogs dangleys (toot my own horn here haha) I then started prototyping the MS200b Then i got a beck as my home practice amp (absolutely mint amp, great sound for home and got loud if you needed) can't remember who i sold it to but i hope hes enjoying it now!
24. will post in chronological order, first i started off with an ashdown electric blue 180, which was a bit naff and when i started getting a bit more serious i moved up to this warwick with a sunn o))) 1X15 with a basslite speaker in it(still got it it makes a great noise) From this i went to a simm watts 200PA which i really regret selling and don't have any pictures of, the problem i had with it was that the practice room we used was up 5 flights of stairs and i could handle carrying it up the stairs on my own haha. went to a soundcity 120 after that, one of my favorite heads, shame i sold this to went to a mesa strategy 400 power amp after that and used a cream pie as the pre amp, it was a great sound but i got offered a v6 in a trade so couldn't turn that down v6 was great but a little bit wooly and i'd just got into building heads.
25. change the title to post your vintage gear so i can perv over other peoples valve amps
