1.
The JJ's seem to be pretty tough. A friend of mine techs for Killing Joke and we put JJ's in Geordies amps. If he cant break them then I say they were good enough for anyone. The rest of the JJ stuff seems pretty consistant too, I've been using them for most of my amp servicing work with very few problems. The thing with valves is that there is an allmost endless list of brands but only a finite number of actual manufacturers which must mean that in many cases your buying the same thing in a different box with slightly different bulls**t written on it.
not a fan of the jj kt88's they don't seem to have a very high success rate of not blowing up. I got a quad that actually broke from vibration of loud playing! Not very doom at all
 2.
does the orange terror bass do a clean sound and how well does it do it ?
Well its a 500watt amp so aslong as you aren't overloading the preamp it'll do clean and loud pretty well
 3. great amps. these are essentially soundcity 120's so sound the dogs dangleys with bass!
 4.
Thread duly moved. Take it easy on him though guys, his intentions in posting were benevolent and we all know some people out there have difficulties with writing. It would have taken a little bit of bravery to contribute knowing there was a risk people might criticise. Mike - welcome and thanks for posting. Nice to have a collection of people here with an interest in these amazing amps!
sorry dude i thought it was someone taking the mick, i have nothing but respect for the burman amps ;o
 5. still need to work on your grammar
 6.
Don't fanny around, just fit a passive volume control to one channel of your a/b box. Could barely be simpler.
problem with doing that is if the input on the amp is high impedance you can end up with a bit of a dull tone

 8.
What was the technical bollock he dropped? I watched part of the vid and most of the cabs sounded the same through my headphones!
really? there were some quite obvious differences between the tweetered and non tweetered cabs.
 9. i think he gets a great groove going on, you wouldn't hear half of the ghost notes if it was a bit lower in the mix and it wouldn't sound as busy
 10. how old is the ashdown? I really doubt this is a valve problem. It could be a power supply problem.
 11.
It's funny that he's got more strings and frets than all the other bassists put together and yet he sounds like complete arse.
he did have a nice groove going on
 12. nice, i like how the salesman guy is wearing a musicman shirt
 13.
Yes I certainly will. Please let me know. Is that what you do then; fix amps?
fair does chap i'll let you know how long it'll roughly be soon. Yeah i do alot of amp restoration at the minute, i'll be posting a few more threads soon of ones i've done up
 14. thought about pedals if your after gain?
 15.
You spoke to Adam from Flatlands? I don't know is his is still knocking around. Needs a little TLC (the amp, not Adam).
yeah he sold it for fook all to someone bit gutted about that
 16.
Can anyone recommend any helpful ways to improve on playing in odd time signatures and poly rhythms? I know this is a general question but I'm just looking to improve my sense of timing when things aren't played to a straight 4/4 3/4 beat.
Best way i can recomend getting into it is to do it. It's what i did with my band, We find it alot easier to bust out a groove in 5 or 7/4
 17.
Yeah it was £38. Thanks again for all the help! I've learnt from this, but still feel so silly . All I had to do was flick a switch at the back and i'd be fine!
not a bad price, replacing the power caps is always a good thing to do in the long run anyway though so saved yourself some hastle there!
 18.
reckon you'll want that Bassman 135 head that's for sale right here now for less than £400 the back pain will be worth it. and a 1x15 cab as per what you see to the left now. goes amazing with a P Bass.
back pain? they're not that heavy
 19.
I have thought of that but they're very hard to come by
keep your eye out on ebay, also i may be getting a few to do up soon, if i do want me to drop you a pm when they're done?
 20. will be fine, wont cut much of your low end and will sound gnarley if you crank it!
 21.
Nah, mine was cheaper including postage and everything. Or it was before I do this repair. I bought mine from craiglists (bit risky, but I did know the guy from ebay with a perfect seller rating). By the way, any idea how much this might cost to repair? Dood, you're beginning to look like a bit of an expert on the amp front to me!
depends on what you've fried, if the PT is fine i shouldn't expect it to be a to hefty bill.
 22. sounds like a mutron to me. Great song btw, ta for that.
 23. i've done this before, it's hard to watch lots of auctions at once
 24. why not get a treble and bass again? They're great heads and you could invest in a nice compressor to go along with it that'll be useful for other things
 25. considered going for a pre/power set up?
