5.
So what sort of driver can I get? I had a look at the Eminence website and they only do 10", bear in mind I'm looking for lightweight stuff only!
have a look on the eminence site they've got clips of all their guitar speakers, my personal favorites are the mountain and swamp thang!
 6.
When you say "heaters need rewiring" do you mean a couple of resistors will need changing on the board or you'll need a new power transformer?
completely different pinout according to datasheet
 7.
He he you are right , but the preamp tranny was the only bit of exposed metal that i could touch.................................
preamp transformer? all bits of metal should be grounded.
 8.
I just noticed something! A 12AX7 has higher gain and will distort sooner than a ECC83. Its all about personal preference. So if you want more of an overdriven sound go for Dereks 12AX7. If you want a very warm clean sound, tight lows, but with a reduced top end go for his Harma Retro (ECC83) he also does a Telefunken 7025 (i think STR) recreation which has a very flat response, if you want a bit more top end, its great for mic preamps this one. Just ask him.
12ax7 is the american name for the ecc83 7025 is more similar to an ecc81 or 12at7 in gain. if you want less gain go for an ecc82 don't think they do any valves that have higher gain than a 12ax7 so if you want more gain i'd recomend modding the amp
 9. welcome to the world of new valves! modern ones don't go through the same testing older ones do, i'd get a refund as that one was obviously faulty
 10. i'd totally wack it up on ebay rather than let these guys talk you into doing it for less than it'll go for!
 11. hm-2 would be great for your needs if you can find it!

 13.
They've gone through a lot of transformers on it, also with the recession a lot of suppliers have gone bust that were capable of offering what was required, but they have them now and man are they huge, like nothing I've ever seen, I suppose if you welded 2 partridges from 200w heads together you'd be getting close to size and weight. It will be really stunning when up and running.
Yeah they had to get a pair off john, you should see the iron on his 1000W amp it's ridic.
 14.
Watch it. a lead foot start could put that Hartke head amp through the back window of that Celica! I wish id taken a pic of my Volvo 940 (with boot not hatchback!) with this little lot crammed in it. I won the lot off ebay for £16, consisting of 12 small combo amps and 4 large PA cabs. Worked out at £1 per item!! Pictured below
doom

 19.
I did use headphones for practice for more than half a year, but, even being quite expensive, they're were too boomy, as I discovered after a few months.. Also, there's not that much clarity when practising with amp, as it is with headphones, so it's also an issue, that put me towards an amp.. Thirdly, practising with headphones for long periods, makes me tired a lot faster than practising with an amp, if you know, what I'm saying.. Wattabout amp boominess - it's on two chairs now, and a pillow is under it - I gotta admit, I can't feel the lack of low end.. I think, I'll need to practice with amp for a few more days, to get used to it, cuz now I can't fully concentrate on practice - it seems, that at the times the amp is too loud.. Thanks for input, guys, cheers Faith
you tried eqing the headphones? cut some low mids etc.

 22.
I'm interested in these Skytec Dual lens LED light thingy - I'll take a picture, shines green and blue dots all over the place - it's meant to do red as well but it stopped for some reason and I haven't bothered looking why but it's probabaly a loose wire I reckon- £25 Smoke machine with liquid and cable remote etc - £15
good call, getting a smoke machine was one of the best thing my band ever did.
