+1 "They may have to travel a distance without the room for gear.....there's many reasons why they wouldn't have an amp"" There are no reasons AT ALL for a band to turn up without the proper kit, barring accidents on the way. Even then, they should call ahead and say that they cannot play. I wouldn't lend my gear to anyone I didn't know well, and I've only done that twice.
When we play out of town gigs, theres no way we could bring all drum stuff, 3 cabs, 3 heads and pedal boards all in one car and its just not economical to bring two. some people do have good reasons sometimes! No need to be a total grump
I keep this around for any such problems. "The sound man said I could borrow your amp" "Yes you can, I'll just go get it"
you run the risk of some guy making that amp sound amazing though and totally showing you up

first gig i played lent my amp to the other bands, they turned everything on full and wrecked it, then complained to me about how it was crap! Don't lend gear out anymore unless they're nice about it or has been agreed before hand. My current rig is fairly bullet proof - great thing about valve amps, they don't explode when you crank them!

ooer shame about all those mullards being fooked, looks like that'll be why it wasn't working though get a new quad of JJ's and fire her up! Partridge OT aswell, looks like a nice find!

Please don't tell me this sounds like a blown speaker...

best way to test is to play and get your head right next to the speakers and listen to see if its distorting or not. -
hey hey, yeah the balance and bias leds on the back of my svt keep going on and off, and dim sometimes, usually if i flick the standby switch or sometimes when playing. whats that all about then? it still sounds the same though.
valves pull current when there pulling signal which shifts the grid current and changes the bias reading.
very I'm playing with a Trace 2x15" V-type cab which has a fantastic bottom end but I don't get a great deal of zing out of it but with the 4052H connected to the link on the back of the cab or using the biamp function of my GK head with some special cables it totally opens the sound up.
don't they have inbuilt high passes so you don't need to biamp them.
I have an Ampeg SVT solid state head that I use more than my 1978 Fender Bassman head. Firstly it's lighter and secondly there is less to go wrong. I think I am acknowledging I'm getting a bit older
less to go wrong than a bassman? Theres barely anything in a bassman! @henry - Thats a beautiful amp i'd be gutted getting rid of it, can see why you'd want something lighter and more modern though!

umph replied to DesertBunker's topic in Amps and Cabs
Hi All the title says it all really. A guy who has just refurbed his guitar shop in my home town and stocks mainly Matamp and some Orange gear has a 1970's Orange OR120 Slave Unit for sale just been fully serviced and rebuilt by Matamp so a bit of a bastard child, still though my main question is, will it run with my AD200b and is his asking price of £490-£450 a fair estimate? Thanks in advance!
where is this shop? ;o His price is very fair that'll easily fetch 300 - 500 on ebay depending on condition -
I saw one sell on ebay in Italy WITH a knackered truss rod for £650 so I think mine in this superb original condition is priced fairly, but it really is a subjective matter,If someone is interested and they take the trouble to come look they can try it against my Rickenbacker...........I hate to say this but it plays better,it sounds as good only in a different way,and its better weighted...I need to sell either this or the Ricky..Hand on heart I would prefer to let the Ricky go but I have little control over who buys which. In an ideal world I would be keeping both and my Gretsch (see pic)which I also have advertised........................................... Unfortunately life is not that fair at the moment.. And as for your being rude...You are not...you like I are entitled to your opinion.. Just a Thought what would a 74 Ricky in such good shape fetch????? Thanks T Whoops a 65 Jaguar slipped in Not for sale though
loving the jag! sea green like the famous bass VI in spinal tap
