1. get a superbass there going for roughly the same amount as orange tiny terrors at the moment and i know what i'd definatly prefer to have for that kind've sound.
  2. The matamp 1X15 cabs are 300watts and 8 ohms each and come loaded with celestions, i'll post a few pictures of them soon - they look the absolute dogs bollocks stacked. if you require anymore information just ask! The cabs sound great - really punchy sounding, especially when used as a pair! looking for around 175 each or 300 for the pair OBO also open to trades for kappalite 3015's. shipping will be fairly expensive for these so i'd prefer pick up. The soundcity cab is essentially an empty upright 4X12 (everyone knows upright cabs have better dispertion and mids) it's very well built and in fairly good nick. i'm after around 30 OBO for this. again shipping will be expensive so i'd prefer to have it picked up. acoustic cab in this picture is sold. The matamp quasar 1000 stereo is a 500watt a side into 4 ohms mosfet power amp. It can be bridged for the full 1000watts into 8ohms. It's in good nick and is behaving as it should be. This amp delivers large powerful low end and is one of the later ones they did before mat mattias passed away and so is built to top dollar specifications, so would also make a great HIFI power amp. looking for 150 OBO for this. this will be around 20pounds to ship within the uk. if you think the prices are to high just shoot me a pm i'm very open to offers, also i'm based in sheffield, but can drive reasonable distances for petrol money and a bit for my time.

    DIY Effects
Just finished a pedal that blends an effect loop with the clean signal. It works great with my chorus and my cheapo Behringer distortion but does not work at all well with my bazz fuss or fuzz face builds. I think this is because they do not have a buffer stage and don't react well to having a buffer before it either. Any suggestions? Thinking of a new build anyway so any suggestions for a buffered distortion or fuzz I could try are welcome.
have you tried eliminating the input buffer? in reference to the power supply i'd go with seperate lm317's and isolate each power output and improve the amount of filtering would be totally overkill but would mean no worries about noisey pedals.

    DIY Effects
Right chaps, whilst the paint on my effects is drying up I was contemplating over the idea of building a dc brick. There are 2 sensible ones I can find. First is tonepad project using LM317 voltage regulator with total cost of around £40 : http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=111 Second is general guitar gadgets using flatpack transformer with total cost of around £30 : http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/gg...ower_supply.pdf To be honest the tonepad project appeals to me more than the ggg one but I might be wrong, wht are your thoughts ? There's also a question if any of you built one ? If you did how quiet is it and is it difficult ? Cheers Jack
i think the GGG one will be easier to set up if you only want 9v and both should have similar noise levels. Personally if i was doing my own pedal power supply i'd go alot more overkill and completely destroy the noise!

  6.
I tried the new Ashdown BTA400 head and matching 8 x 10" cab today - one of only four available in the UK as yet. Big, fat, and bone-crunching. I connected another Ashdown 8 x 10" to the set-up. My ears have only just stopped bleeding. Serious piece of kit.
nice can't think of many other production 400watt valve amps at the minute!
  7. sounds great dude! remember before firing up check everything then check it again to avoid disapointment!
  8. how come you went for a bias control as apposed to input impedence for a silicon fuzz face?
  9. try swapping the at7's out for ax7s that amp should go total fuzz when you crank it!
  10. should be able to get quite alot of drive out of these have you tried bridging both of the channels?
  11.
Hi guys, as title. Anyone use the little B? any good? bear in mind this is for church use and I'm looking for bottom end that doesn't sound muddy or that you're listening to it with half blocked ears. Do you know what I mean here? I'm competing with keyboard, drums and 2 electro acoustic guitars so not your average church! For a cab I'm looking at the Ashdown MAG410T 4x10 Deep Blackline Bass Speaker Cab. Now these are available with blueline speakers as well so which is better? Any thoughts, comments or alternatives very welcome. Bear in mind I currently play a USA Precision or a Jazz. I don't want lots of sliders, eq's etc' because I'd never use them. KISS and all that.
it's not going to do big clean low end unless you get some really effiecent cabs. I.e not ashdown ones.
  12. he should know how it sounds if hes already got one! tell him to keep an eye out for a 15 - 30watt amp so he can really get some power stage distortion going on.
  13.
So is that hand built from chinese components?
most likely, not much stuff is still made in england anymore and chinese components are just as good if not better nowadays. Dave greens leaddress is top bollock from what i've seen though
  14. how come you need a manual to service it? i think you'd be better off taking it to a tech if you havn't got the proper gear or knowledge to be doing it yourself!
  15. made by dave green sounds great! i'm assuming that means they're handing the retail to matamp
  16.
I think there is confusion between "volume" with "headroom". OK there are some idiots around, but most people don't buy 500/800 watt amps to play on 11. If you play a 200 watt amp at 200 watts you won't get a clean sound with a good tone.
a 200watt amp if rated properly will do 200watts no problem clean all day and sound great. If you push it harder it'll begin to distort.
  17. +1 on jack did you use an isolated one, you could've raised the noise floor.
  18.
Just got a present of a memory toy (wow, someone buying me something useful!) and have played about with it for a few days but not sure i can find a use for it, the delay's a wee bit dark for my liking, i really only want a wee bit of slapback or echo. ideally i'd like a trade on this for something like that, a vintagey echo, not necessarily an expensive one, i quite like the look of the wee danelectros (plus a bit of cash my way)! will get pics up tonight if anyone's interested but it's basically brand new in the box with all the wrappings and leaftlets etc!!!
if its to dark i think you'd want to stay away from the vintage delay sounds.
  19.
No, under UK Ebay regs he can't. However it looks like he's advertising this on US Ebay, not UK (the price is in dollars), and Ebay regulations for Septics are nothing like as punitive & extortionate as they are here. Oh & he's a dealer - check out his other listings. He's been tying to punt this for more than a year - I've noticed it coming up in my searches over & over again. J.
it is nice though ;o
  20. 400+ now gone.

    traynor yba-1

thats an alright price for one not an absolute steal, wether it'll keep up with your band though i don't know, guessing the original cab wont cut it at all.
  22.
Just been looking on the Dunlop website, and it looks like they’re going to be taking my pocket money for the rest of the year!! The way huge aqua-puss must be due out soon. Also – quite excited about this – MXR’s custom shop are re-issuing the phase 45. I’ve been after one of these for aaages, they go for stupid money on e-bay, but it’s the only phaser I’ve user used I really like! Hope it’s not too expensive – words like ‘custom shop’ and ‘original 1975 components’ on the website sadly doesn’t sound like ‘affordable’ to me though!
loving your band - my own flag
  23.
Hi, I'm shopping for a valve amp, and went to see a second hand one today. Amp played fine for a few seconds, allbeit through a crappy speaker, but the fuse blew. The guy didn't have a replacement, so he's gonna replace it and I'll re-visit him later in the week. Question is, I'm still interested in the amp, even if it has a fault, as the maker is local to me, but is there a common cause for blowing fuses on an amp? I know naff all about the wizzardrey that goes on inside these things, but I don't think it's a basket case, as it played fine before the fuse blew (no buzzing, pops crackles or anything to suggest it was rubbish) Cheers in advance.
what amp is it? gut feeling would be power valves on the way out.
  24. The electro harmonix bass balls is a twin filter envelope filter pedal (like running two envelope filters in parallel) thats voiced for bass and has two internal trimpots to set the frequency of each filter. great pedal i have no use for it anymore comes with box and manual and all that jazz. unsure how much these are actually worth nowadays and prices on ebay seem to be all over the place does 40inc postage sound good to you guys? pictures shortly when i find my camara.
  25. bump mesa didn't sell.
