2.
I wonder... If it's only 30 watt, do you think it would be class A?
no it uses 4 el84s in pushpull which is AB, you very rarely get a head over 15watts thats class A.
3.
I swear there's 4 weeks in a month?
think its a badly worded way of saying full refund available for up to 2weeks and he'll still tweak it for another 2 weeks after that. some people where talking about these over at talkbass and said some good things! tell us what you think when you get them they certainly look good.
4.
word from ashdown is that the LB 30 watt valve head will be £399 when it becomes available.supposingly its as loud as an abm 500w head!
watts are watts, the ABM will be louder. The LB will probably be able to keep up in a band situation if you aren't after a clean tone or lots of low end.
5.
Many thanks for the replies chaps. I think I'll get my Xmas gigs out of the way and then book myself a visit. £350-£400 seems like a steal for these. Luckily I only live about 30 mins away. Now which colour...? Hmmm...
green obviously big up the mac!
6. nice one mate, those tsl's are horrible amps you definatly got the better end of the deal there!
7. the mark3's aren't a touch on the mark2's build wise. i'd go for it if you have the cash it's only going to be worth more in a few years if orange don't run themselves into the ground
8.
???
haha sorry shouldn't post while falling asleep. I've built a few of these now with a 47k pot on the input, it's great because you can dial in the perfect amount of input signal with any bass that way.
9.
Doesn't hate active basses, this is a misconception. It just doesn't NECESSARILY work AS well with SOME actives. I use mine with an active bass and it sounds brilliant, but I have seen video reviews of it with other active basses and it sounds like an enormous pile of sh*te. There is also a middle ground, where it just sounds slightly off, but you'd be the only one to notice in all liklihood. It depends on individual basses, but if your main bass is an active then it is important to bear in mind that there may be in issue.
its the way the negative feedback works, it's very easy to overload and active basses tend to have higher input signals and lower impedance and thus overload the circuit alot easier
10. i'm sure adding a master volume to the pedal wouldn't be a huge challange
11.
Sure, no problem: http://www.met.police.uk/
are you going to report zvex for making YAFF clone?
12. getting dirt from the amp was my intention, speaker distortion isn't the greatest things with bass. What speakers would you recomend for the enclosure?
13. i very much doubt it'll be the valve, take it to a tech
14. my recomendations for that kind've sound on a bit more of a budget would be - soundcity 120's (bit smoother break up) simm watts 200watter heads, sunn 200s or similar heads (might be hard to get a hold of in the uk) essentially anything with lots of el34s / kt88s and a low gain preamp.
15. ahh good call i'd gladly go for an or120 over an ad200b or anything orange have made for the last 10 years for that matter.
16.
Ohhh I like the look of the "Little Bastard Head"
same here shame it'll probably work out better for guitar than bass!
17. around 800 as far as i can tell how much is the guy offering to sell it to you for? ;o
18. ahh thanks, what do you think of the speaker choice? heres the datasheet http://www.eminence-speaker.com/pdf/swampthang.pdf i'm assuming they'll be able to handle a 200watt and be biblically loud, or would you recomend some other speakers for this purpose?
19. was thinking about nabbing this cab - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...sid=p2759.l1259 and loading it up with eminence swamp thangs - will be used for distortion side of things etc. would this be a good or bad idea or would i be better off getting my mate to build a more traditional 4X12 for this purpose.
20. now on ebay
21. kinda tempted by this
22.
Anyone got any experience or advice? I have been offered one but the compressor doesnt work. Is there anything to be wary of and what is the current going rate? Cheers Dave
in the uk? how much are they asking i'd love to get my hands on one there great for sludge etc.
23. bump again gonna wack this on ebay next week!
24. very tempted it's just the problem of not getting to try it out beforehand, do you do a 2X15 version? i'm after biblically loud (just made the mistake of offering to make a 200watter head for my guitarist)
