1. this is brand new, the memory boy is essentially a scaled down version of the memory man so no tap tempo and presets but it still does some nice chorus and delay sounds. i'm getting rid of this because i really need a delay with a tap tempo since my drummer hopeless at holding a steady beat. so i'd like offers for this there about 100squids on dolphin atm or trades for delays with tap tempos other intresting pedals. i'm gonna wack this on ebay in the next few days

  3.
the oranges are wicked, can't comment on the 200b but i owned a 140b for a bit and it sounded awesome when cranked no need for distortion at all! i can only imagine the 200b is the same but louder? also im using a TE v4 at the mo, while my peg in for repair and that sounds really nice to thru my 610hlf. and i know someone with a fender bassman 100 which sounds killer! andy
the one you had will be in a completely different league to the new ones, the old matamp ones are completely different amps
  4.
Went to visit Geoff and Aiden at the factory last week and had a blast. My guitarist fell in love and so did I, want to get two GT200's and two custom bass 4x12's when I have some cash.
get them to make you some 6X12s more is more
  5.
Also, I thought Sound Citys were well know for clean sounds. I've got a Pork Loin and a Big Muff to dirty things up, but I want a slightly gritty sound just from an amp, and the pedals to add some more drive.
matamps are known for clean sounds to but do nice distortion when cranked. if you want full on amp distortion at every gig i'd look for something around 50 - 100watts max as apposed to 200 watts as thats gonna be epic loud when cranked just keep an eye out for something with el34s, no valve rectifier and big transformers.
  6.
the other day i recieved 2 Peavey Mark 3 heads in the post. i've been very happy with them, they're plenty loud and just the right sound for me. however today i was just playing along, not loud at all but suddenly one of the amps starting feeding back making almost oscillation noises. it then cut out and all i could hear was sizzling coming from the amp. what could it be? i hope its not too serious i'm just rather angry as i sold my soundcity because i wanted something that wasn't so delicate, something that was a complete workhorse and after only two days this bugger has decided to call it a day! Matt
soundcity to delicate? those things are tanks! with a SS amp of that age you still gonna have the same amount of problems as you'd get with a valve amp of the same age minus valves, only problem being SS amps are harder to work on if anything does go wrong
  7.
I don't know if this will be of any interest to anyone but as some of you know I have commissioned Matamp to build me a GT200 (with extra bits) and an 8 x 10 sealed cab and now a 2 x 12 sealed cab. I have been involved right from the off because I wanted the new gear to be able to emulate the sound of my Simms-Watts as well as do lots of other tones/sounds. So today I have spent most of the afternoon finalising the spec of the amp and cabs... Amp: GT200 Line Out with level (for send to desk) Black reptile tolex Black hardware (corners) Black faceplate with illuminated Green Matamp Logo non-ported 8 x 10: Black Reptile tolex Black corners Black steel protective grilles 8 off 300W 10" Celestion neo drivers non ported 2 x 12: Black basketweave tolex Picture framed front with silver fender cloth Dimensions and "feel" of cab to match Simms-Watts PA100 2 off 12" 300W Celestion ferite drivers vertically stacked Pictures and progress reports to follow and as I will be helping to make the cabs probably pics of me glued to the eyeballs and bits of tolex stuck everywhere
;o
  8.
Can you ressurect PCB's? I lost my patience, i was 3 components away from finishing it.
it depends what you've done to it? have you ruined all the tracks?

    old pedal

i love vintage italian effects they seem to have a nice charm about them, my guess is that it will likely be very similar to a coloursound supastain pedal. If you could open it up and get some good pictures, that'd be very useful!
  10.
So it wouldn't neccesarily be good for stoner/doom type sound? That's what I'm going for. Supercollider would be ideal I think. My issue with the Muff is that it's seriously big and heavy (physically as well as sonically ) and I'm getting sick of carrying it around with me to practice and I want something a bit more compact for my pedal board, which I plan to put together soon.
you want to play doom and you can't be arsed to carry a pedal around? ;o please don't tell me you play doom on a littlemark II aswell! by the way this is all merely in jest ;<
  11.
My DS-1 has arrived from the states, including a mod kit. Heres the original TB thread: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.p...&highlight= Im going to have a play with it as stock, then i might get abit done before work. Also my AMZ MOSFET booster has arrived: But thats for another day.
ey up send us the ds-1 and i'll get it back to life again if you want! i've got an urge to play around with one.
  12.
When I had a DHA VT-1 EQ Drive thingy, I also tried the Muff'n at a music shop, and it seemed to lack a lot of the power and overall tone that the DHA had. Hard to explain, but I knew straight away when I turned the Muff'n on, the DHA was a lot better. Just my two penneth.
The DHA isn't valve clipping though its diodes ;<
  13. the bass micro synth does all those and more
  14.
Karmic balance restored. Carry on!
+1
  15.
Matamp GT200... job done ...although the 1K is 300 short and it wont go down to 2ohms
+1 on this, its a beautiful hi fi amp! sounds like your not really after a valve amp though from your list
  16. its more about it providing a buffered high impedence signal so theres less signal loss on long cables and the signal is less likely to pick up noise. the active eq is a useful side feature
  17. you can make a really good passive one for extremely cheap depending on the quality of transformer you want to use! http://www.whirlwindusa.com/i1/dischem.jpg - that is essentially all you need alot more simple than it seems

    Dummy Pedal
Ask DHA for a DFA pedal
a bit of DFA really brings your out in the mix

    Dummy Pedal

haha sounds great have you not considered doing it yourself? you should just have one big knob labelled suck
  20.
and me Dunlop have put a demo on Youtube now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGT9IVvR8sM
nice tash haha, not a fan of mid cut on my distortion though
  21.
Before you commit to Orange just go to Huddersfield and try a Matamp 8x10... I have and I was blown away by it, mind you I was using the GT200 to drive it
bet that simm watts sounds beautiful for the 4X10 you have to ;p

    bazz fuzz
I think duplicating the Mammoth is an issue in itself, rather than just buying one, but profiting from duplicating it is wrong to me. I'm surprised people are doing stuff like this. Maybe I'm naive. Al - knowing you from elsewhere I'm surprised that you'd be doing this.
zvex didn't design the pedal themselves, also its a fuzz face clone thats been modded for bass anyway
  23.
The guy who owns it is my oldest mate and is a leccy engineer. He reckons a failing valve is making another run hot. He also thinks some of the components like caps and resistors may need replacing as it's a bit noisy. He knows a fair bit about valves and related electronics but doesn't want to tackle this himself. So, can anyone recommend someone good nearish London who could fix it? He also wants to know how much it might be worth to gauge how much to spend getting it fixed. Thanks as always, Nigel
hi if one side isn't getting the right bias and the other sides running hotter i'd recomend you take it to a tech asap, because in my experience that can get very costly if you let it keep on running like that
  24.
Here's a link to a guy in Nottingham making 1000 watt valve amps. 1000w valve amp He's using just 4 813 transmitter valves as opposed to the 20 or so 6L6s you'd need if you were to use 'ordinary' valves. I'm surprised we haven't seen more manufacturers going down this road. The only downside seems to be the rather frightening 2500 volts on the anodes but having said that, 400 volts will kill you just as dead....
i've seen this beast the pictures don't do it justice, you should see the new one hes just made with 20 807s its even more of a beast!
  25. the dude in incubus uses a pretty complex rig to get his sound i think the bass only plays a small role in his sound
