if you want a proper tube preamp i'd look to spend a bit more than £150
-
yeah would it 100% be the cones though? the old speaker was nackered but this one seems to only crackle if you play around A, could it be anything to do with the head, the tone still sounds crystal clear just theres a crackle.
Cool, I might try gigging using a patch cable between bass and amp then
i've heard patch cables lose low end and you should only use titanium reinforced kevlar military grade space continium cables if you want the TRUE tone of your bass

can anyone advise me on who to go to about speaker repair near sheffield, i blew the 15" in my cab last night so i put the speaker that originally came with the sunn cab back into it and damn does it sound good also rated at 100watts and is louder than the 450watt eminence that i had in it! unfortunatly its really crackly i was wondering if this would be fixable? if so who to go to ta!
When did you buy yours? I had mine back in 2005, I've also heard a few other people claim the same thing back before the Nano Stone came out. I'm wondering if they corrected the problem, at the same time that they nano-fied it.
i got mine about 2 years ago second hand so it might be a bit of an earlier one than yours
I think this might be exactly what you’re looking for but you need to make it work in "reverse". If you have two basses (e.g. #1 active-hot output, #2 passive), you need to keep the pedal on when you use bass #1 and off when you use bass #2. Compared to other solutions, this pedal, thanks to its simplicity, does not alter the sound in any way. As far as I can understand, the signal goes only through a passive attenuator, without any transistor-based circuit/component. In a nutshell, apart from a different volume level, the pedal shouldn’t affect the signal or add any noise. I have been building similar pedals (in a smaller size) and users always find them very effective. I hope the above helps.
you do lose some treble bleeding signal to the ground but thats about it

trace elliot v6 > matamp 2X15 very very loud
Sorry can't help you with the Mistress, but I've had experiences with both the Nano Clone and Stone and both the Small Clone and Stone. First I'll start with the Clones - I found the Small Clone to be a pretty nice pedal, it wouldn't go as subtle as say the CEB-3 would but it would go subtle enough for most people I expect. What it did do well, was get a really wet and lush, full chorus sound. Lost no bottom end that I noticed, no volume drop. The Nano Clone on the other hand was just crap IMO, for lack of a better term. It didn't seem as versatile, wouldn't do subtle at all, lost low end and had bit of a volume drop. Simply pants. Now for the Stones - The Small Stone sounds pretty cool at first, nothing mind-blowing, just your bassic no-thrills phaser but it does exactly what it says on the tin...... except it has a really noticeable volume drop. This was a bit gutting for me, since I was really into the sound of the pedal. All was okay in the end though, as EHX brought out the Nano Stone, which IMO sounds exactly the same as it's big brother, but without the annoying volume drop. Perfect Finally, if you ask me, the Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus (big old sky blue metal versions, not the new ones) owns the Small Clone. I like both and would be happy to gig with the SC, I just like the Cool Cat a whole lot more. Does the big thick lushy sounds even better than the SC, but also does the real subtle stuff really very too. No noticeable volume drop or bass loss either.
don't notice a volume drop with my small stone infact when it does the lower end of the sweep it gets ridiciously loud
best valve head over all. discuss. i tried one lastnight and it was so so good. better than the sunn i had.
i've had one, seems to be all low end and no mids or highs, sounds great on its own but once you play with it in a band mix its all mud

my main influences are generally more funk orientated so it doesn't matter if i accidently rip stuff off in my band ;p

The best one i've played through is the matamp 200 watter, lots and lots of growl.
what do you actually mean by "how much roughly" ? Do you mean the price, in pounds ? Or did I miss something ? Price is 1600 euros, so that means about something 1385 pounds... Actually, I'm indeed looking for a high end bass to replace it... Just propose...
sorry missed the price in the sub title!
