just won this! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190269532042 ://http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=190269532042 with a good clean up could be a promising base for the head. lots of sockets etc hopefully still decent transformers. think i may move away from the dual channel idea as i've realised the distortion tone i want is going to come from power amp distortion not pre.
Does anyone know if the Signal Pad could possibly be used with active basses, to make active-unfriendly fuzz pedals usable?
which fuzzes do people think are active unfriendly? the only one i've had problems with is the wooly mammoth and that was cured by rolling down the volume to the point where it stop over saturating the circuit

just power by batterys or use a decent power supply to filter out any electrical interference
-
i wouldn't say gibson were boutique ;< can get much better boutique stuff built to your specifications for the same money!
-
i've tried to make this pedal fail at tracking it even handles you pumping distortion into it so i don't think tracking is an issue! its more if you like the tone of it or not. It can do some great sub bass tones and some organ like sounds but the octave up on its own can sound a little tinyy as said

my trace v6 hasn't sold yet so can't start this whats a good price for a v6? i've been aiming to get around £600 for it i'm not sure if thats aiming a bit to high or not really, can't find much information about these beasts online
that's right... stick with transistor amps because they don't carry lethal voltages Remember kids, it's the current that kills... If you haven't got that fact down umph, you may want to rethink this idea - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=32494
transistor amps are still connected to the mains also high voltages can give you some pretty nasty burns
Don't suppose you might start building and selling them if this one turns out well? Could probably get some good business off here. Zach
i'd love to but its quite a labour intensive process, like 20 to 30 hours depending on the build so i'd not be able to do it for that cheap but if people would be willing to be decently for the labour i'd love to!

new string always make everything sound better!
-
i wouldn't build a valve amp if you have no prior experience in that field as you are working with very lethal voltages! better to buy an amp than kill yourself!
-
time to update! i found an old ROOST amp on ebay that need alot of TLC but it happened to have some partridge transformers (score!). So i redid the power amp and phaser invertor up to HIWATT standards(6XEL34 with an added choke) and then added an orange preamp with an added mid boost and master volume! waiting on new valves now to fire it up and see if it works! Tested the power supply which seems to be putting out a good voltage per say. Now to decide what colour tolex to redo the enclosure in i was thinking of going for racing green and gold stripes might be a little to cheesey though before after
explain the differences?? as far as im aware, the 'signal chain' in an amp head is preamp > effects loop > poweramp correct me if im wrong
depends on the amp some would work as you suggest though. some run the effects loop in parallel with the pre amp so the send comes from after the input buffer.
More new items, I need to fund a new PC before this one dies on me. No trades at the moment sorry, unless its for something ultra-special. ------------------------------- Malekko Echo 600 Bright Delay 600ms of lovely analog delay. Box + Manual. [s]£120 + £5 shipping[/s] Still available, but on hold for two weeks. ------------------------------- EHX Micro Pog Great octaver from EHX. I'm sure you all know about this one - it lets you pick and mix between dry, octave up, and octave down signals. Boxed. [s]£100 + £5 shipping[/s] Still available, but on hold for two weeks. ------------------------------- CoPilot AntDroid Ring Modulator Prototype Bought this a couple of months ago, one of four Antdroid prototypes released at the time. Its a bastard child hybrid of the Antenna and Android, and makes plenty of insane noises. One of the expression pedal input jacks is loose (I believe its broke inside, I'll have to check again), although this doesn't affect normal operation. Two of the controls are mislabeled also, but apart from that it works fine. £80 + £5 shipping ------------------------------- Wren & Cuff Pickle Pie w/ Mid Switch A Pickle Pie fuzz clone from Wren and Cuff. This also has the mid-switch mod, which flattens the mid-scoop allowing for a larger variety of tones. Great sounding pedal. Great condition. Didn't come with a box or manual, so I can't offer either :> £70 + £5 shipping ------------------------------- MI Audio Neo Fuzz Very versitile, modern sounding fuzz. Good condition. No box or manual. £70 + £5 shipping ------------------------------- Ibanez Weeping Demon Great wah pedal, with a large variety of knobs for tweaking your sound. Comes with box and manual. This one is quite heavy so I'll offer shipping through royal mail standard parcels too (£7 inc. compensation cover). Pic #1 £50 + £7 / £20 shipping ------------------------------- Boss FZ-2 Killer fuzz tone. In a fair condition, has that 'beat up boss pedal' look about it, with plenty of little scratches all over the thing, but works perfectly. No box or manual with this one though. Pictures from the eBay auction that I won it, I'll get my own (hopefully better) photos up soon. Built like a tank, like all rocktron pedals. Good condition, with 'box' and manual Pic #1 Pic #2 £15 + £5 shipping ------------------------------- Feelers I also have a Demeter Compulator, Tonefactor Hellbilly, Analogman Minichorus, and B:Assmaster that I may consider selling, so feel free to make me an offer on those. I'd personally like to hang onto them, but if I can't raise enough from the items above I may let them go.. ------------------------------- PM me offers, payment through paypal please. Items will be sent through Royal Mail Special Delivery Next Day (1pm guaranteed). Feel free to ask questions, make offers, etc. Im also willing to send by standard parcels, which should be about half the cost of Special Delivery. Discounts in shipping for those who want multiple items of course. Feedback: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=11475 Thanks in advance! Dave
fancy trading a cream pie for the b:ass master?
isn't plugging the dha into the effects return effectivly the same as running straight into a power amp?
not really.
Cheers for all the help guys. Theres a big guitar shop not too far from me, and I know they stock alot of ashdowns, so i'll probably go and try out what they've got. I think I would rather go for a new, I dunno, thats just me. Talking to a guitarist friend, thats definatly powerful enough. he knows the place where I would play (local band night) and he recons 120watts is around powerful enough (as it can just be mic'ed up). But, I'd rather have too much power and turn it down as opposed to the other way round!
for solid state you'd be looking at around 300watts to have enough clean head room to get those lows out properly at gig volume.
